When you see this pop up on your screen just pull over and click start and go to Photo then jump into your Drone and start ascending up to the sky. Depending where you are on the map you may have to drive further up the road and try again if you're in the Mountains. You will spot the collectibles fast and easy where ever you are. @AtomixBlazer just keep driving around the ENTIRE map, some are even close by to each other so you might be able to see 2 when you use the drone. I just found 2 that was literally down the road from each other. Explore the map more even the off road locations.

what do i do if i never get that a collectible is nearby >?

I use map for this. Collectibles usually visible on it, but sometimes they spawn under bridges.
