Hello there. The purpose of this guide is to explain what to expect in Garry's Mod, from gamemodes to the people.

Introduction

If you are reading this, you are either going to buy GMod (Garry's Mod), bought GMod but you are new, or just reading this because you are bored. Anywise, this guide will show you the essential things you should know about Garry's Mod.

Gamemodes

There are a variety of gamemodes in Garry's Mod. Here are some gamemodes you are likely to join.

Sandbox

Sandbox allows you to build anything you want (with a limit to which games you have mounted). You can build a base or spawn some NPCs or spawn weapons to shoot said NPCs.

GMod Tower

GMod Tower is a gamemode that lets you relax in a giant tower, where you can do lots of things, from throwing parties to playing arcade games. It also has its own subgamemodes in its gamemode ports area.

DarkRP

DarkRP is a type of RP in which you pick a job and try to roleplay as the job you choose. You can be a cop, a hobo, or even a gundealer. However, there are rules you have to follow, so read up while you download over 3,000 add-ons.

Trouble in Terrorist Town

Trouble in Terrorist Town or TTT puts you as either an Innocent, Detective, or Traitor. The Innocents must survive a set amount of time. The Traitors want to kill anyone who is not a Traitor.
The Detective can try to find out who is a Traitor and kill them before they strike.

Murder

Murder modifies on the TTT formula a bit by pitting one Murderer against the Bystanders. One Bystander has the gun and other Bystanders can get guns by gathering clues. The Murderer can gather clues, too, and can use it to disguise as a dead Bystander. They can also toss their knife. By the way, if you haven't made a habit of looking behind you, do so. Very often.

Prop Hunt

Prop Hunt puts you as either a Hunter or Prop. As a Hunter, you must kill the Props. As a Prop, you must survive until time has counted down.

Stop It, Slender!

Stop It, Slender! is the GMod gamemode equivalent to a multiplayer Slender game. Find eight pages and escape.

Cinema

Cinema takes you to a movie cinema where you can watch movies, YouTube videos, or Twitch livestreams. You can go to either a public theater or a private theater.

SeriousRP

SeriousRP can be set in any universe and abides by any rules set in such universe, with the most popular one being Half-Life 2 RP. The rules vastly vary depending on which universe you end up ending up in.

Kinds Of People

There are just so many people on Garry's Mod. Here are some people you will most likely meet in Garry's Mod.

Squeaker

Squeakers are little kids that play video games with the ability to use a mic.

Mic Spammer

Mic Spammers will use their mic to try and annoy anyone nearby.

Kid Admin

Kid Admins are kids that somehow have become admins.

Bad Admin

Bad Admins are just full-on imbeciles. They either don't know how to use admin commands or they can't tell an offence from normal gameplay.

Admin Abuser

Admin Abusers know they are bad. Not only do they usually let trollers and trouble makers reign, if things don't go their way, things will go their way, because they can use their phys gun to move you away or drop you from a high ledge. They almost always ban people for little to no reason.

Prop Killer

Prop Killers use their phys gun as a weapon and the props as their ammo.

The Stereotypes

The Stereotypes perpetuate a type of people to the extreme and are most common in SeriousRP servers.

Hacker

Hackers are the people you do NOT want to get mad. Although, it is important to be able to tell apart an actual hacker from a squeaker.
