SILICON RISING - Solution For Connection Interrupted (New Fix 2024)

This guide will show you how you can play SILICON RISING in 2024. Following the guide requires ownership of the game on steam, I do not have solutions for any other platforms.

The Issue

Since at least December 2022 this game has been impossible to play due to a connection error that pops up shortly after launching the game. It seems like this game was programmed to validate ownership or some kind of DRM with a server which has now been shutdown.

This game was also banned on steam for review manipulation on June 5, 2021. This means it would be impossible for the developers to ever upload any official fixes to steam.

The Solution

Luckily this ownership / DRM check ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ didn't always exist in the game, making it possible
to download an older version of the game directly from steam and play it without issues.

The DRM connection feature was added in Patch 1.9.7 (29 February 2020) and was included in every build that released after that. Sadly all the fixes and enhancements that were added in these later patches seem to be lost forever. This includes smooth locomotion and snap turning.

How to download an older version of the game

• Press Windows key + R and enter steam://open/console
• Paste one of the depot codes from below for the patch you want to play on.
• Wait for download to complete. The console will tell you when its finished.
• Grab the downloaded files from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content
• Right click this game in your library > Properties > Installed Files > Browse...
• Delete or move the existing files and then paste the new game files inside.

1.9.4 is the release build, 1.9.5 added index support and 1.9.6 is the last working build.

I have no idea which build is the best or if any of them contain major game-breaking bugs so I thought I'd just include all the builds that work without getting the connection interrupted error.
