Overview
In this short guide I will show you the exact required experience for leveling a weapon from 0 to 20.
Mastery levels
How to read the table: The weapon starts at mastery level 0, for example to reach level 1 you need a total of 5850 experience.

Experience gained per difficulty
Disclaimer: The mission modifiers do not affect the experience gained at the end of the level.
Example: A mission completed on heresy without any modifiers will give 24000 Experience. If that mission has Hi-Intensity Engagement Zone and scriptures you will still get 24000 experience.
My recommendation is to pick Low-Intensity Engagement Zones if you want to level a new weapon fast so it will be easier and you can get a feel for your weapon.
You also do not get a bonus if you choose quick play and the bonus experience for the curio also does not work. So pick a mission that you enjoy doing.

The only thing in my testing that reduced the experience gained was the new mission Rolling Steel, for this I do not have the experience values.

Sacrificing a weapon
Attention: Make sure you sacrifice the same weapon type, you get a massive experience bonus.
Example: If you sacrifice a combat axe while trying to level a heavy sword you will only get about 1600 experience while if you sacrifice a heavy sword you will get about 9000 experience that is almost 6 times more experience.
Also the rarity of the item does not matter, a 350 rating transcendent(yellow) item will give the same as a redeemed(green).

If money and platsteel is not a problem, you could buy and upgrade the items to redeemed and then sacrifice to Hadron.

The most expensive item I could find was about 11600 ordo dockets, the upgrade with platsteel was 103 and it gives 7590 experience points.

So with an average of 11600 ordo dockets, 110 platsteel and 8000 experience. you will need a total of:

Average platsteel
Total number of items to purchase
406000

Thank you.

The number of kills or the time you use a weapon should not matter.

In my testing I got the same amount of experience for both weapons at the end of the mission.

Nice guide, you did a good job with the numbers
The only thing I'm still interested in is whether the number of enemies killed and, roughly speaking, the time spent with weapons in a particular mission depends on the amount of experience at the end?
I noticed that running for 5 minutes with a primary weapon towards the end seemed to gain almost more experience than spending the entire mission with a secondary one. It's possible that I'm imagining it, but while I was mastering psyker staffs, I rarely used a sword, axe, etc., but it felt much longer than any primary weapon.
