What is Doom Morph?

Doom Morph is the 4th Doom Power made available to the player after unlocking Shadow's White Space open zone, it is unlocked with the Doom Gear obtained from defeating the Metal Overlord boss battle.

Doom Morph sees Shadow take the form of a squid-like Black Creature, allowing him to homing attack purple Morph Balls and quickly swim through the goop-like Corruption. Activate Doom Morph by attacking a purple Morph Ball.
While moving normally through Corruption Shadow will swim at a medium pace; slower than the boost and more akin to his standard skating speed, press the boost button to create a temporary burst of speed. This can be used to rocket off purple slopes and ramps, launching you high and far.

Doom Morph is also contact-sensitive, touch any regular surfaces or homing attack anything outside of Morph Balls (enemies, springs, etc.) and Shadow will unsquidify, requiring you to find another Morph Ball to transform again.
How to Swing
Not only does Doom Morph allow you to ride along Corruption but it also acts as a cross between a grapple and slingshot, while in squid form Shadow can interact with Morph Balls in two different ways:

Grappling

With the homing attack's crosshair locked onto a Morph Ball hold down the attack button (Square on PS, X on Xbox, Y on Switch) and Shadow will begin automatically swinging from the target as pictured above. Do NOT let go of the button as Shadow will automatically unlatch from the Morph Ball once the grapple arc is complete. The arc doesn't account for speed or momentum and will swing you in the same fashion every time.

Slingshotting

Once you have the attack button held and Shadow has begun his grapple LET GO of the attack button to immediately launch upwards into the Morph Ball as pictured above; your position from the Morph Ball determines the angle which you will launch in, use the connecting line between Doom Morph and the Morph Ball as a guide while aiming. For example, if you let go of the attack button while directly underneath the Morph Ball you will launch straight upwards whereas if you let go while at an angle you will launch diagonally upwards.

Aerial Locking
If you are grounded or airborne in squid form and homing attack a Morph Ball you will begin swinging from it as previously stated. However, if you try homing onto a suspended Morph Ball as regular Shadow you will be unable to swing.

Per the in-game tutorial, you may only latch onto a Morph Ball if already in squid form, homing attacking a Morph Ball as default Shadow (regardless of it's in the air or on ground) will simply put you into squid form and drop you.
If you are airborne as Shadow and wish to grapple or slingshot then you must be in a position where you have access to two Morph Balls at once - homing attack the first to activate Doom Morph and only then will you be able to grapple from the second Morph Ball.

“flinging your squid” sounds wrong tbh.
