Anno 2205 - Change the text language from russian to English

Introduction

For centuries mankind could not solve this problem. And then one day, there was HE who could!!!! How did he do it!?

You have two options:

• Easy: Follow the link to the Google drive(See comments), download the archive, unzip it, and transfer these files to the 📁 "Steam\steamapps\common\Anno 2205\maindata" folder with the replacement.
  
• Hard: Use the method described below.

Briefly

In the folder 📁 Steam\steamapps\common\Anno 2205\maindata there are files 📄 data1.rda, data10.rda - data18.rda, in them there are localization files on the path data\config\gui\texts_*.
1. You need to unpack the files 📄 data1.rda, data10.rda - data18.rda.
2. You need to take the contents of the 📄 texts_english.xml file and copy it to the 📄 texts_russian.xml file in the 📁 data1, data10 - data18 folders.
3. Pack the folders 📁 data1, data10 - data18 back into .rda format using RdaConsole.
4. Generate a new 📄 file.db file.

1. Follow the link - https://github.com/lysannschlegel/RDAExplorer/releases
2. Below we find RDAExplorer-1.4.0.0.zip, download and extract it
3. Follow the link - https://github.com/anno-mods/RdaConsole/releases
4. Below we find RdaConsole.zip, download and extract it

Unpack the files - data1.rda, data10.rda - data18.rda

1. Create a 📁 data-update folder somewhere.
2. In the 📁 RDAExplorer-1.4.0.0 folder, open 📄 RDAExplorerGUI.exe
3. On the top left select File -> Open, go to the 📁 Steam\steamapps\common\Anno 2205\maindata folder, select the 📄 data1.rda file, press Open



4. Next select Tools -> Extract All, select the 📁 data-update folder, MUST wait until the black bar at the bottom is completely filled in







5. In the 📁 data-update folder, we will have a 📁 data folder. Rename it to data1
6. Repeat steps 3., 4., 5. with files 📄 data10.rda - data18.rda.

Result:

Take the contents of the texts_english.xml file and copy it to the texts_russian.xml file

Take the contents of the 📄 texts_english.xml file and copy it to the 📄 texts_russian.xml file in the 📁 data1, data10 - data18 folders.

1. Go to the 📁 data1\config\gui folder. You need to take the contents of 📄 texts_english.xml file and copy it to 📄 texts_russian.xml file. That is, the 📄 texts_russian.xml file should contain only English text.



2. Do this with folders 📁 data10 - data18.

Pack the folders data1, data10 - data18 back into .rda format using RdaConsole

1. Go to the 📁 RdaConsole\build folder.
2. Point to an empty space in the folder, hold Left Shift and press RBM, then press Open Powershell window here or Open command window here. The console will open.



3. In the 📁 data-update folder, rename the 📁 data1 folder to data
4. Enter the console command:
For Powershell:

.\RdaConsole.exe pack -f <data folder> -v 2 -o data1.rda -r

Example:

.\RdaConsole.exe pack -f F:\Games\Anno\data-update\data -v 2 -o data1.rda -r

For CMD:

RdaConsole.exe pack -f <data folder> -v 2 -o data1.rda -r

Example:

RdaConsole.exe pack -f F:\Games\Anno\data-update\data -v 2 -o data1.rda -r

5. Repeat steps 3. and 4. with folders 📁 data10 - data18. (Don't forget to change data1.rda to data2.rda in the console command at the end after renaming the 📁 data2 folder to data, etc.)

Result:



6. Go to the 📁 Steam\steamapps\common\Anno 2205\maindata folder and delete the old files 📄 data1.rda, data10.rda - data18.rda and move here the new 📄 .rda files, which are in the folder 📁 RdaConsole\build.

Generate a new file.db file

1. Go to the 📁 RDAExplorer-1.4.0.0 folder and open 📄 FileDBGenerator.exe
2. In the program select the folder where 📁 maindata is located - 📁 Steam\steamapps\common\Anno 2205\maindata
3. In the Output file.db line, select the same folder - 📁 Steam\steamapps\common\Anno 2205\maindata
4. Press the Generate button

Done

As a result, we will change all the ruzzian text to English, but unfortunately the voiceover will remain ruzzian.
You could do the same thing with the voiceover, but the problem is where to find all the files of English voiceover. In the pirate version there are not all files of English voiceover.

You can simply disable the voiceover in the settings.
