Tin Can Takedown Achievement Guide
By TheLaggingGamer
So, a few days ago, I started trying to get home runs in Tin Can Alley for the Tin Can Takedown achievement. No matter what I did, I was not able to get the achievement despite hitting multiple inside-the-park home runs a game. However, this achievement requires a lot of luck and a little bit of patience.

There is a specific spot in the ballpark on the right field area that is hidden from view that if a ball is hit in that specific area, the ball will sometimes become glitched and will result in a home run instead of a ground-rule double. This results in the achievement being given and it counts as a Home Run.

It also helps to have your hitter be one that hits as a righty and has a lot of power (IE Pablo Sanchez, Jocinda Smith, Keisha Phillips, etc.). It also helps to have the batter be in the "closed" batting stance as it helps them to hit towards that specific spot.

This can be done in any general setting and works with pitch locator on. You cannot use power-ups as stated in the achievement flavor text. You can also save the game right at the start with those three batters listed and if you don't get the home run with any of those three, you can reload the saved game and try again!

The image that accompanies this guide shows the location that you need to hit it to for the achievement to activate!

Hope this helps!

This achievement took several games, but I finally got the glitch to happen with Billy Jean hitting one off the top of the dumpster for a home run.

I thought people dug into the files and found Jocinda has middling power but perfect contact.

Any idea if it has to be in a game or will Batting Practice suffice?

I got this achievement on pure accident not knowing I was supposed to hit it there to get it. I had a team filled with power bats (Pablo Sanchez, Achmed Khan, Kiesha Phillips, Mikey Thomas, etc.) and the one who finally hit the home run was somehow Angela Delvecchio so I think there's a possibility that using someone with too much power may lead to hitting it too high to hit the glitched spot.

Oh, right. Silly me. Sometimes I'm just not very observant.

Just for clarification, Aluminum Power Bat will not give you the achievement. You have to hit the home run without power ups as stated in the achievements text.

It's pretty easy to hit a home run in Tin Can Alley with the Aluminum Power bat. In order to acquire a power-up, you would have to strike out while batting, which would give the pitcher a pitching power-up. Then, when the pitcher throws a pitched power-up, try to hit the powered-up ball; if you succeed, the team at bat will acquire a batting power-up and there's a chance that Aluminum Power might be the one you get, though I wouldn't necessarily count on it.

Thanks for the tip!

I've seen some videos on youtube showing the ball glitching out in straightaway center as well (where the left hand side of the trailer meets the top of the screen), but it seems to be much harder to pull off due to the greater distance. It was hit without a power-up.

It was also either the '01 or '03 version of the game, though, so no guarantee it works in '97.

Thanks for the guide. This will probably take me ages but I remember doing this a few times by hitting the ball out on the left and right without a powerup on the 03 version. I'll just have to get lucky with this or what I mentioned eventually lol.
