By Burger and 1 collaborators
You thought this was a casual cozy game? HAHAHA! Well, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥' wrong, pal.
Wanna see some OPTIMAL movement tech? BEAR WITNESS!

Did you know Webfishing is one of the deepest movement platformers ever conceived by mortal hands? Here's the proof.

Introduction
Okay, so, you may be thinking to yourself: "..."

And to that, I agree. Okay? I agree with you. Bear with me here.

For many many... Hours? Uhhh for how long has this game been out again? Let me check. OH MY G OD. A DAY (as of writing)?? Whatever.

Players are always moving. Many don't know this but it's true, and to you that may sound fine, but the bad part comes when they aren't moving fast. If that doesn't ring a bell: They don't move Correctly.
The biggest crime of all, not always being 100% effective with your movement... How suboptimal... Who would ever want such a thing...

Well, FRET NOT! For I; "Burger", will guide you in this guide of TOTALLY 100% OPTIMAL MOVEMENT OPTIONS that you should ALWAYS be doing regardless of context.

I INTRODUCE YOU TO THE ULTIMATE-DEFINITELY-FISHING-RELATED-MOVEMENT-TECH, THE:

I've been pioneering some movement tech within Webfishing, it is similar to animation cancelling in the sense that a dive can be stance/animation cancelled into another dive jump, with no limit to my knowledge EXCEPT for the existence of the item change animation, beyond that you can fit as many dives in the air as you can use with the limits of the cooldown.

How it works fundamentally is: you can USE animations such as item switching and fishing rod throwing to cancel into extra dives after jumping.
The good
So, I bet you're convinced, eh? Well I sure am, I think I talk good.
Now, I'll be highlighting the good, the bad, and the less bad to you because, as perfect as this technique is, it's not perfect. But it still is perfect. Don't get it? You will soon.

With that out of the way, the GOOD parts of practicing and doing this is:
  • It's a bit faster than normal movement.
  • Spring Jump Tech to send yourself a little farther with. Because why not.
  • It'll probably win you a race or two, just in case you ever have any.
  • Instead of spamming spacebar and having them hurt, it splits that same pain between several fingers, essencially eliminating it.
  • It makes you look like a badass.
  • Applicable IRL to a degree (IRL means In-Real-Life)

I'm just now noticing how big the player model's heads are. They look so funny. Thank you Iamedeveloper
The Bad
Okay so I'm gonna drop the act this whole thing is kind of... Uhh...

PERFECT...?

I am yet to see a downside to this technique, trust me, I tried, it just won't budge! It refuses to be bad!

Now, this tech is still very early in development, as I myself see the potential for an even greater Webfishing movement scene, maybe it'll turn into quake one day? Who knows. Animal crossing is already a lot like quake anyways so it's not a far fetch.
The Less Bad
There is no "The Less Bad". All of this is good.

This opens potential for maximizing general grounded locomotion speed.

This is the formatting of notation I will utilize from now on to describe my points:

  1. J = jump
  2. D = dive
  3. Ch = change item
  4. . = button combination
  5. Land Tech = utilizing Ch to prevent character from sliding.

Wisdom
Notation for different techniques:
This is the main aspect of "Bcancelling", the trunk of the Webfishing movement tree.

The Long Jump
for jumping the farthest in one go.
forward.J -> D -> Ch -> D

Unfortunately, the item change cooldown prohibits you from doing a Land Tech, so use this technique wisely.
Throw in a quick getup after belly sliding to start moving again, but beware of the item change cooldown.

The Sprint
for fast, consistent speed.
forward.J -> D -> Ch(Land Tech) -> loop this

This has some VERY specific timing. You have to be fast enough as to fall on your feet instead of belly, but precise enough so that the animation doesnt prevent you from animation cancelling your next dive, this is the Land Tech.
Like this:
As you can see here, we are not sliding on the floor, this is because the slide slowly loses speed, and even if you use an early getup to prevent the slowdown, the de-acceleration will have kicked in too much already.

The Spring Jump
By utilizing the Bcancel technique at the PEAK of your spring jump once or twice, you are able to increase your distance significantly.
Unfortunately, I've found that 3 or more Bcancels do not add any extra speed to the jump, so you'll have to either ask the dev to buff Bcancels (please) or stop doing several in a spring jump... Sorry...
Application
Putting in practice
You're gonna come across some things that will seem impossible to beat at first, but with my teachings and wisdom. It'll all work out. And I believe in you.

That stupid ass water path you can't jump over UGHHH

So, normally, you can't do ♥♥♥♥ about this besides sit on your ass and cry, but with MY TECH. You can Bcancel over it with ease.

There is no other way to make this jump. Trust me. Don't try other methods.

The Lake

This HUGE jump you're seeing here is a really good example of this tech's practicality, under any normal circumstances, this is a completely possible jump in vanilla with springs because they launch you just the right amount, BUT, if you do use the tech, you can actually go a big farther.

By utilizing the "Burger Cancel Spring Extention" technique (in the peak of jump -> Ch -> Dive) you're able to go like idk 3-4 meter farther, and that's a lot!

The Ultimate Guide
THIS IS THE TAB FOR THE COURAGEOUS. THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND IN THEIR MOVEMENT AND ALSO NOT MOVEMENT. THOSE WHO ARE UNMOVED BY THE CRUELTY OF THE WORLD. BEHOLD. ALL I KNOW:

Redirecting
It is possible to redirect your momentum mid air by diving in any other direction after Bcancelling.
forward.J -> D -> Ch (before belly touching the ground) -> (any other direction).D

Telekenesis Fishing
This isn't movement but like if you pick a fish from a fishing buddy WHILE reeling in fish your character will start utilizing strange mind powers to reel in the fish.

Money Maximus Cash
This isn't movement either.
By utilizing the challenge hook and purposefully slowing down how fast you're reeling in fish, you can maximize how many minigames you get, which means more money. Yes. Cash
Yeah

And uhh yeah I think that's it?
Thanks for reading my guide! This was made with nothing in my mind and 24+ hours awake. make sure to drop me 100$ paypal!

The water path (beach river area) is jump-able with a well timed jump dive at the last second while somewhat in the water, no special tech required. I did it before I even found this guide.
