GUN / FIRING MODES
Instead of zooming in Yamato has a different firing mode when she presses right click. It's quite hard to describe when to use each of these modes, a lot of it is about feeling which will naturally come as you play more games. When starting out, left clicks will be a lot more consistent and easy to land.

Left Click

Your normal attack, always use this when you're trying to shoot orbs. This has faster fire rate and bullet travel speed. Left click is generally easier to land and more consistent damage at medium ranges.

Right Click
  • Uses 3 ammo per shot (you can still use it with less than 3 ammo).
  • Does more damage per shot but has a slower fire rate and slow projectile speed.
  • Feels best in close range, they're OP to use in melee range battles.
  • Does more damage than your left click at long ranges, but the slow projectile speed makes it harder to land.
  • When you have your enemy low in lane from spamming them with Power Slash, they'll probably back up under their tower. Spamming these can help keep them pressured.
  • When shooting at long range, try to have the bombs land at your enemies feet, they will definitely explode then, if you aim for their body and miss, the bombs will just go past them and won't explode anywhere near them.
  • Has a small AOE, if an enemy is hiding behind thin cover (like the signs next to their guardian in lane) you can shoot the edges of the sign and damage the enemy behind their cover.
  • Really good against characters with big hitboxes like Mo & Krill or Dynamo.
SKILLS
-----------------------------------
[NEW SKILL ORDER SEE NEW BUILD]
-----------------------------------

Always take this first. Power Slash is what this build is all about, so I'll talk about it the most.

Follow ability point order & max this first. Once this is maxed it will do a lot more damage, you can farm really quick with this too. Try to position yourself to hit as many creeps as possible when farming. Maxing Power Slash instead of taking 2 points in Flying Strike (like a gun build Yamato might do) also stops you from feeding before you become really powerful.

The way you use this skill changes as the game progresses.

In lane & pre-Improved-Reach:

You'll need to be quite close to land this skill. Try to predict the enemies movement, when they might try to punch a creep for example. You can time it to land on them as they punch. You also fall slowly while charging this & you can usually get a better angle from above. Being on the bridge or double jumping before you charge can really help.

Keep in mind, the strategy below is the ideal scenario and certain lanes (mostly 2v2 lanes, if you play well most 1v1 lanes can be easy) you won't be able to dominate hard.

The ideal scenario in lane is to be pressuring your enemy back underneath their own tower. (sometimes farming close to your own tower can be easier, but pressuring is better). You do this by landing a lot of slashes. If you can land 2-3 full slashes in the first couple of creep waves you're in a position to dominate the lane (for 1v1 - it takes a bit more in 2v2).

If you get them underneath their tower you can start hitting creeps with your slash too. Killing 1-2 creeps quick with a Power Slash or Crimson Slash definitely isn't a waste. It helps your creeps get closer to the enemies guardian so your opponent has to panic. When you have a creep advantage under their tower and they're panicking to last hit them all, it makes it even easier to continue slashing them. Keeping them low while your creeps hit their guardian is an easy way to win the lane.

If you need to shop, get Healing Rite, Mystic Reach, Mystic Burst to help you do the above even better. Healing Rite into Torment Pulse is an extremely greedy rush, but it can be good as described in the item section.

Mid to Late game with Improved Reach:

Improved Reach is such a good item for Power Slash (you can extend even further with Mystic Reverb). It allows you to position yourself a lot better. Using the same strategies as in lane still works, but you can also start playing more on the outside of fights and sending in huge bursts of damage regularly.

Be aware: Power Slash will do a LOT of damage with this build, but when it's on cooldown your gun will be pretty weak. Be careful when picking your fights, the build is more about burst damage with your skills than consistent damage with your gun (you can upgrade your gun later). Try to fight with your team mates. Having your team do some consistent damage with their guns will make it very hard for your enemies to deal with your massive burst.

Always take this second.

This doesn't do a lot of damage, but having a bit of free life steal in lane can help you win trades.

The healing from this becomes huge when you get it levelled up.

The fire rate slow from this can help a lot when fighting heroes like Haze, Wraith and Infernus.

When you have it maxed, spam it as much as possible in fights, the low cooldown will give you a lot of healing.

You have to be quite close to land this skill.

Take this third.

This skill is really important since to be effective with Yamato you need to be close (with Improved Reach you can poke from a distance more). Flying Strike allows you to chase down enemies very easily.

After maxing Power Slash, upgrade this twice. After upgrading this twice you should wait until last to max it. You need he increased cast range from the 2nd, but the bullet damage bonus you get from maxing it isn't that important, since this is a spirit build.

When you play as Yamato, you can't be afraid to commit. Use this skill to get close and hit your enemy with a fully charged Power Slash (the slow from Flying Strike should make it easier to land your slash).

Of course, don't fly into a 1v6, you still need to consider whether you'll make it out alive.

Obviously you'll take this last.

There are a lot of ways you can use this skill. Essentially it's a Debuff Remover and Ethereal Shift, then you get temporary invincibility after.

When you press the button, any debuffs will be removed from you. Some examples are:
- Infernus Afterburn
- Bebop Sticky Bomb
- Warden Lockdown
- Seven Static Charge (if you're low or outnumbered use it before you get stunned)
- Vindicta Stake
- Pocket Affliction

After you've transformed though, they can apply these effects again (even if you're still in your form, careful against Infernus).

You can't take any damage while you're transforming, so timing this right can make a Haze ultimate useless against you (for example). You can also dodge the explosion of an Infernus ultimate.

After you transform all of your ability cooldowns will be reset (not items). For the duration of the skill you can't die and you'll charge all of your abilities faster.

It's really good to have some lifesteal with this skill, then you'll be able to wait until you're quite low before using it, then lifesteal back up to being healthy. The lower you are when you use it the more effective HP you'll get from the skill, don't be too greedy though because you might die and look like a fool. If you're going to get stunned soon, consider if they'll be able to kill you while you're stunned, if they can then use your ultimate.

Casting your ultimate resets all of your other cooldowns, you can use that aggressively but be careful if you do because you will be able to die afterwards. You should only really consider this if you're already in a stronger position and need your spells again to secure a free kill.

If you're outnumbered or in a big team fight it probably isn't a good idea to aggressively ultimate, in that situation you'll want to extend your life as long as possible or avoid as much damage as possible.

You still have to care about your life. Especially with this build, your lifesteal will come in big chunks instead of a steady source. If you can't lifesteal enough in the duration try to kite and juke your enemies until you can get another chunk of health back.
KEY ITEMS
-----------------------

-----------------------
Healing Rite - This item gets a special mention since a lot of players might think it's bad.
  • Always buy first, you want it anyway & you never know what might happen to cut you off from your shop. If you don't have this & you're too weak to get to your shop, you'll be really sad.
  • In the lane it will be very useful for trading with your Power Slash, since you can tank some damage to get a slash then heal yourself back up.
  • After lane, getting 370 health back every minute can help you take more fights and keep farming without having to go back to base. Topping up on health will always be useful.
  • When you have this active you'll get +2 sprint speed. This is so good for moving between lanes to help your team mates.
  • TLDR: Using this will help you play the game more.

FINAL TIPS
Some things to keep in mind to not grief the game:
  • WATCH THE MAP. So many people in this game don't look at the map enough, when it's actually the most important thing. You should look at the map every time you finish farming a creep wave or winning a fight to decide where to go next.
  • Always prioritise creep waves in the lane over creeps in the jungle, especially when they're safe and free to farm. Killing lane creeps make you richer AND puts pressure on the map, enemies will be forced to respond and clear them.
  • Outnumbering enemies is the easiest way to win a fight. Never choose to fight when you're outnumbered unless you absolutely have to. Again, watch the map to get an idea of how many enemies are around you.
  • Same point - If you can see an easy opportunity to help your team mates and outnumber your enemies, do it.
  • Split pushing can be good, but if you do it, try to do 2 lanes (one inside one outside). Doing only 1 lane is a waste. Moving between lanes is so quick, you can easily get waves on both lanes. Don't go too far, 1 or 2 waves is good enough. Regroup with your team and don't feed.
  • When split pushing please remember, 6 enemies pushing your walker are probably gonna take it quicker than you can take one on your own. Don't be greedy because they will kill your walker, boost back and kill you for free. Be careful when you can't see them on the map.
  • PRIORITISING THE JUNGLE IS THROWING THE GAME. You should only jungle if you have nothing else to do without feeding. ESPECIALLY IN LATE GAME.
  • In the late game try to be close to your team mates. If you get caught alone and outnumbered then one death can really throw the game.

Hope you enjoy.
