Udes 15/16 — Class: light tank.

Brief historical background:

UDES 15/16 is a project that combined the best features of two competitors.

Work on it began in November 1974, and by January 13, the first developments were already available. The combat weight of the three-man vehicle was 26 tons.

The thickness of the front armor reached 70 mm, and the turret was reinforced even more — up to 125–160 mm. Despite its considerable weight, the use of a Scania DS14 diesel engine allowed for a power-to-weight ratio of 20.9 horsepower per ton, theoretically enabling a maximum speed of 70 km/h.

From UDES 16, the vehicle inherited a system for swimming across water obstacles.

For various reasons, neither version was realized in metal. The most that was achieved was the construction of a wooden model of the UDES 15/16, which differed somewhat from the initial project. Work on the project then ceased.
