Start of the Night
Before the night starts it is recommended to setup some stuff before starting. you have an infinite amount of time to do so as the night doesn't actually start until you accept / deny the tutorial promt on the PC (This does NOT apply to Nightmare mode, in which the night automatically starts 13 seconds after gaining control of the player)
Grabbing the Flashlight
The Flashlight will spawn in one of the following locations:
  • On the bedside table
  • On the computer desk
  • On the round table next to the front door
  • In the living room, on the TV stand
  • In the bathroom cabinet
  • On the table behind the couch
  • On the kitchen counter
  • In the bedroom, on the cabinet next to the television
Turning off Lights
How lights affect Threats:

More Lights on:
  • Smaller chance of Noir spawning in areas with light on
  • Increased Lucas laser search time
  • Increased Mr. Delfalco search time

More Lights off:
  • Bigger chance of Noir spawning
  • Decreased Lucas laser search time
  • Decreased Mr. Delfalco search time
Signal Booster
Placing the signal booster reduces the amount of time it takes to repair cameras and sending reports depending on where you place it

Multiplier:
Green spot: 0.1x
Yellow spot: 0.5x
Red spot: 0.8x

These spots randomize every 1080-1500s real time on Casual mode, every 870-1575s real time on Normal mode and every 840-1545s real time on Nightmare mode. There are a total of 2 green spots and 4 yellow spots on Casual / Normal mode and 1 green spot and 3 yellow spots on Nightmare mode in the building.

Threat: Male Noir
If you're in your apartment, he can spawn every 590-1100s real time on Casual mode, every 1025-1855s real time on Normal mode and every 810-1640s real time on Nightmare mode. If this timer runs out while there is another threat active he will stall for another 120-180s on Casual mode and 205-300s on Normal / Nightmare mode. After he has spawned, he has a 15-99% chance (depending on his position and difficulty. The closer he is from the PC the higher this chance gets) to kill you every 60 seconds on Casual mode, every 40 seconds on Normal mode and every 30 seconds on Nightmare mode you're sitting at the PC. He will also instakill you if you leave your apartment while hes active

Spawn locations
  • Right outside the kitchen, infront of the PC [^^ Image]
  • In the living room, in front of the couch
  • In the bathroom [Shadow will be visible from your PC]
  • In the bedroom [Shadow will be visible from your PC]
  • Directly infront of the PC [Cannot happen while you're sitting at the PC]
  • By the elevator in a hallway [Only Happens while you're in the hallway]
  • On the roof by the satellite control panel
  • On the roof by the elevator

Countering him
Flash him and then face your back to him for 10 seconds. Make sure you don't get too close to him as that will kill you.
Threat: Female Noir
She will spawn somewhere outside of your apartment, and has an infinite amount of time to be dealt with. However if you see her and go away (ex: by taking the elevator to a different floor) she will instakill you

Spawn locations
  • On the far left of your hallway [^^ Image]
  • In the middle of every hallway
  • On the roof infront of the elevator

Countering her
Once you see her, slowly approach her, DO NOT SPRINT as that will instantly kill you, once she slightly tilts her head, face your back to her for 10 seconds [Start counting once you hear her say "Don't move"]. While facing your back to her make sure your character doesn't move AT ALL during that time. I recommend picking up your mouse so it can't accidentally move on it's own. If you're walking out of your apartment and she is on your left make sure to NOT get pushed by closing the door as this will most likely result in getting killed, since the way the game checks if youre running is that theres a certain speed-threshold that has to be exceeded for it to set your state to "running", and getting pushed by the door exceeds this threshold in most cases.
Threat: Lucas
He can spawn every 565-925s real time on Casual mode, every 385-730s real time on Normal mode and every 355-700s real time on Nightmare mode. If this timer runs out while there is another threat active he will stall for another 265-333 seconds on Casual mode and 265-473 seconds on Normal / Nightmare mode. If the timer runs out while you are NOT in your apartment, the hallway on the 9th floor or on the roof he will stall for another 180-300 seconds. If you take the elevator without closing your front door, he has a 40% chance on Casual mode, 60% chance on Normal mode and a 70% chance on Nightmare mode to instakill you in your apartment, no matter what his timer is at.

Spawn locations
  • In your apartment
  • On the roof

Countering him at your apartment
Once he spawns, you have 90 seconds on Casual mode, 65 seconds on Normal mode and 40 seconds on Nightmare mode to stand up from the PC, if you fail to do so he will snipe you. However if you do manage to stand up in time, you have to go hide for 10s + [8s per light] on Casual mode, 7s + [16s per light] on Normal mode and 11s + [11s per light] on Nightmare mode. If you stand in his laser for 4 seconds on Casual mode, 2.5 seconds on Normal mode and 1 second on Nightmare mode, he will snipe you. While hiding you have a maximum peeking time of 4s on Casual mode, 2s on Normal mode and 1.5s on Nightmare mode before he snipes you. Make sure to not have your flashlight on for 3 seconds on Casual mode and 1.5 seconds on Normal / Nightmare mode, otherwise he will once again snipe you. If his attack timer runs out while your door is unlocked and you're in your apartment, you will get instakilled the next time you sit at the PC.

Countering him on the roof
If he spawns while you're in the back half of the roof, you will need to hide in one of the roof hiding spots. If you stand still for 5 seconds or have your flashlight on for 3 seconds on Casual mode and 1.5 seconds on Normal / Nightmare mode he will snipe you. Since there are no lights on the roof you will only have to hide 10s on Casual mode, 7s on Normal mode and 11s on Nightmare mode every time. If he spawns while you're on the front side of the roof, simply exit through the elevator and he will immediatly despawn. If you stand still for 5 seconds or have your flashlight on for 3 seconds on Casual mode and 1.5 seconds on Normal / Nightmare mode he will snipe you.
Threat: Mr. Delfalco
Mr. Defalco is only active on Normal mode and higher. He can spawn on the camera 555-1015s real time on Normal mode and 1155-1735s real time on Nightmare mode into the night, once he spawns he will take 180-360 seconds to despawn. Once he despawns he will spawn again after 25-50 seconds. If you look at him for more than 0.75 seconds consecutively he will move onto phase 2. Once he is in phase 2, he can spawn every 510-1320s real time on Normal mode and every 410-1220s real time on Nightmare mode. If this timer runs out while another threat is active he will stall for another 212-425 seconds. There is another line of code called "DelfalcoHuntTimeReRollWindow" that stalls him for another 120-240 seconds, but it hasn't been figured out when this activates. He can also (randomly???) spawn in a hallway.

Countering him by hiding
If he spawns while you're in your apartment, he will play a quiet whistling sound. Upon hearing this sound you have 20 seconds to hide. If you fail to do so he will instakill you. Upon entering your apartment you will hear the doorlock turn off and the door opening. DO NOT exit your hiding spot from this point on until you hear the door open a second time indicating that hes gone. While you're hidng he will check a total of 28 spots [-2, 4, 5, 7 spots for each light turned off] before leaving. If you peek for more than 2 seconds he will kill you. If he spawns while you're on the roof, you will hear a second elevator ding. Upon hearing this sound you have 20 seconds to hide. If you fail to do so he will instakill you if you step over certain areas. Upon arriving to the roof you will hear another elevator ding, DO NOT exit your hiding spot from this point on until you hear yet another elevator ding, indicating that hes gone. If you peek for more than 2 seconds he will kill you. While you're hidng he will check a total of 28 spots [-2, 4, 5, 7 spots for each light turned off] before leaving.

Countering him by running
If you go on a floor that hes on, he will come sprinting out of the far back door after around 5 seconds, or once you're past the middle of the hallway. once he has spawned, run to the elevator, if you manage to reach the elevator it will automatically take you to the 9th floor without the need of pressing anything. If catches you, you're dead. Triggering him in the hallway will reset his attack timer.
Threat: The Breather
The Breather is only active on Nightmare mode and higher. He can spawn every 600-950s real time plus an additional 300-600 seconds on his first arrival. If this timer runs out while another threat is ative he will stall for another 205-300s. If the timer runs out while you are outside of your apartment he will stall for another 120-300 seconds.

Countering him
Once he spawns you have 50 seconds before 1AM and 20 seconds after 1AM to check your hallway camera, if you fail to do so you will get instakilled once you sit at the PC or open your apartment door. If you do manage to check on him in time, you will see him walking down the hallway. Once you see this, you have 20 seconds to brace your apartment door, if you fail to do so you will get instakilled once you sit at the PC or open your apartment door. When you're bracing your apartment door he will try to open it between 4-8 times for. When you see him pushing on the door, hold it down until you see it move back again, you have 0.8-1.2 seconds to do so, if you fail to react in time he will burst through the door and instakill you. Your stamina fully drains 7 refills 2.5 seconds, so you cant hold down the door forever. After every push he will wait 3-8 seconds before making another attempt at pushing. Once he has ran out of pushes, you will hear him walking away and take the elevator, indicating that hes gone.
"Threat": Lady Lotus
Unlike all the other threats, she can't kill you. She can get angry every 1440-1980s real time on Normal mode and every 1400-2580s real time on Nightmare mode (She is still active on Casual mode, but she will never get angry). This timer resets when you report a high value object to her. If the timer runs out she will get angry and break every single camera. This will reset her timer
Mid Game Ramp Up
After 1AM on Normal / Nightmare mode all of the timers (EXCEPT KILL-TIMERS) of the threats decrease by the following amount:
  • Noir: 60s
  • Lucas: 30s
  • Mr Delfalco: 30s
  • Breather: 30s [Already listed in his section to avoid confusion of what his "kill timer" is]
  • Lotus: 200s on Normal mode and 100s on Nightmare mode

Dead Signals
Every 1050-1450 on Casual mode, every 940-1070 real time on Normal mode and every 785-955s real time on Nightmare mode your signal will go out, making all cameras inaccessible until you fix it

How to fix Dead Signals
Go to the satellite dish on the roof, unlock it and turn it until it turns green again (also indicated with a sound cue). Make sure to lock it again after you're done fixing it.
Elevator Breaks
On the roof you will find a switch next to the elevator for the elevator breaks. If the elevator breaks are turned off you will be much faster than usual, but the elevator has a 1% chance every time you use it to crash, which will instakill you

@Danklord Not sure if that is the case, however i have never seen an instance of Male Noir not spawning for more than like 2 hours on Nightmare mode, which is barely above the absolute minimum time for Noir's timer to run out twice without being stalled. I only have very limited access to the code atm, and have basically non-existent knowledge of Unreal Engine, so i cant really check if that is true or not (imo this information isnt really important tho towards beating the game so i wont really bother with that). What could have happened to you when you got that said death, is that you got pushed by the door when you were closing it and the Female Noir was in the Hallway. This results in death since the way the game checks if youre running is that theres a certain speed-threshold that has to get exceeded, and getting pushed by the door exceeds this threshold in most cases. Also getting killed by Female Noir actually plays the jumpscare of the Male Noir smashing your head.

I would l like this guide to be the definitely "up to date" version, because the other ones don't have the right information for me to properly attempt Nightmare mode

pretty sure the game just picks a binary number to spawn either Female Noir or Male Noir when the respective timer is up, but this makes me confused on why they both end up spawning in my hallway after a dead signal, and package delivery. Upon closing the door behind me to deal with female noir in the hallways I immediately get my shins kicked in by male noir.

amazing game and I wud like to suggest a one too

@Bagwork Yandere Dev Im not entierly sure. There isnt any interval with "Noir" in its name that isnt already used for the Male Noir (except "NoirFemaleLookAwayTime" for the time you have to look away from her). My best guess is that she uses the same timer as the Male Noir but doesnt fully reset the timer, and instead uses the "NoirReRollTime" mechanic (adds 120-300s to the Noir Timer). I will properly look into this when i have time.
Bagwork Yandere Dev Sep 30, 2024 @ 7:13am
how does female noir spawn work? does she have her own timer or smth?

@EinAqd There are no problems, but it’s strange that you didn’t find this wording strange.

@thoumi yes, i have noticed that aswell with other people. Im not sure if that is a bug or not but there is something that reduces 30 seconds of his timer(s). I have an idea of when that could trigger but im not 100% certain. Will update the guide as soon as i find out when this happens
