Intro
(Note: for Windows only. No idea what to do on another OS.)

Many of us who have played Artifex Mundi's games have experienced a major problem when replaying the game to get achievements: if you mess up, you have to play through the rest of the game episode before you can reset to the beginning, because there's no in-game way of resetting mid-game without resetting your whole profile and losing all your in-game achievements.

Well, I'm here to tell you that I've discovered a reliable way to do just that, and it felt wrong not to share since I don't know if there are any similar guides for Artifex Mundi's other games.
Steps
1. Turn off Steam Cloud for the game, of course.

2. Go to the game's save file location at %AppData%\Artifex Mundi\Enigmatis_TheMistsOfRavenwood\CE\profile\<string of numbers>

3. Back up all the non-bak files by copying them to another location on your computer.

4. There'll be one or two save files for each profile: Save_##.cub is for the main game, SaveCE_##.cub is for the bonus episode.

5. You're most likely to want to restart the main game, so delete the Save_##.cub and Save_##_bak.cub files.

6. Open the game, click "Play," and choose to play the main game. You should see the new game cutscene and be back at the start, with all your earned achievements intact.

7. Exit the game and go back to the save file location in step 2.

8. Copy all the non-bak files (or copy them too, but the non-bak files are the important ones).

9. Go to the folder where your Cloud saves for the game are stored on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steam ID>\<game ID; in this case 284770>\remote\profile

10. Paste the copied files from step 8 into the folder, overwriting all of them.

11. You should back up all the new files into another location, overwriting the old backups if you wish.

12. You should now be able to turn on Steam Cloud without losing your reset. I'd suggest going into the game after turning it back on to check.
Conclusion
And that's the end of this guide (my first one, in fact). If you have any issues or questions, let me know in the comments. (P.S., This guide cannot be applied to the first game, since it saves differently. I'll likely make a separate one for that game in the future.)
