Intro
Configuring An X-Box One Controller for Supermarket Together.

While controller support has not officially been announced on the game store page (as of August 26 2024), the developer has said a recent patch made this possible. I can confirm through my own testing and frustration) that yes you can set up your X-Box One controller to work with Supermarket Together.

I put this guide together because not everyone likes to use keyboard and mouse for movement. After a lot of experimenting I finally got something that worked for me and hopefully it'll work for you.
Configuration
How I set my controller (your mileage may vary).

Go to OPTIONS:

Max out the X and Y Sensitivity setting it to 5x. It's still not as fast as the mouse but it suffices.

Be aware the X/Y sensitivity setting is global and will affect the camera pan and tilt movement. That means if you want to switch to your keyboard and mouse, the mouse will be very sensitive. On the flip side if you left the X/Y sensitivity at 0.6x it will be extremely slow on the controller. In other words, you have to pick your poison. Do you want use your controller, or keyboard and mouse?

CAUTION
Due to the nature of the X/Y sensitivity sliders, setting it to the maximum (5x) might cause motion sickness if you switch to using a mouse. So a mouse works best at 0.6x and controller thumb sticks work best a 5x.

Next go to CUSTOMIZE CONTROLS

In the CONTROLLER COLUMN it is broken down into what is essentially character and camera movement.

NOTE 1: I have found using the left thumb stick for character movement in combination with the right thumb stick for camera movement to be more difficult. It's why I personally chose the D-Pad. If you want to use both thumbs you can

NOTE 2: This section was pretty confusing to me when configuring the controller because the Action names were not conventional are the same for keyboard and controller. This is how I have movement set (leave the boxes that have the refresh icon blank).

NOTE 3: There is a 5 second timer you will see popup. The first one you can ignore, but the second 5 second timer is when you press the button. If you make a mistake, just remove or replace the button and try again. The dialog box is not shown, but you will see it pop up when you click on the blank box. Again wait unit the second 5 second pop up occurs.

SETTING THE CONTROLS:

Move Forward
Move Forward+ D-Pad Up (click in the box wait 5 seconds then press the button)
Move Forward - D-Pad Down (click in the box wait 5 seconds then press the button)

Move Horizontal
Move Horizontal+ D-Pad Right (click in the box wait 5 seconds then press the button)
Move Horizontal- D-Pad Left (click in the box wait 5 seconds then press the button)

CAMERA MOVEMENT (panning and tilting) using the right thumb stick

Mouse Vertical
Mouse Vertical+ Right Stick Up (click in the box wait 5 seconds then move the thumb stick up)
Mouse Vertical- Right Stick Down (click in the box wait 5 seconds then move the thumb stick down)

Mouse Horizontal
Mouse Horizontal+ Right Stick Right (click in the box wait 5 seconds then move the right thumb stick right)
Mouse Horizontal- Right Stick Left (click in the box wait 5 seconds then move the left thumb stick left)

Click on DONE located in the upper left corner of the dialog box.
Saving
Next SAVE your configuration (located lower right on the dialog box)

NOTE 4: I did not include the X,Y,A,B, Triggers, Bumpers and the middle controller buttons because those are flavored to your taste. Configuring those buttons is the exact same process you just did above. So just follow the same steps to configure the remaining buttons.

Finally go into a new game or load you current store and test it out.

NOTE 5: Don't forget to program one of your buttons to allow you access to the menu so you can make changes. If you forgot, just press ESC on your keyboard.

NOTE 6: This might work on other X-Box controllers (360, Series S and Series X) but you'll have to test those out because I do not own those controllers. I don't want to assume.
Conclusion
While this guide is detailed I tried to make it as simple as I could to avoid confusion. Now go build your supermarket empire!!!

I personally ran into issues with the Steam input, and really that won't fix the slow rotation of the camera. Perhaps I can revisit that and see if there is improvement.

Remember the game has yet to fully adopt controller support. Hopefully with all of the updates being released lately that will finally be addressed.

A good way to get it as smooth as mouse is to do it your way except that you setbup a steaminput only for the right joystick to act as mouse

Doesn’t work once I get onto ordering stock though as left stick doesn’t do anything on it for some reason

You are welcome Edward. Keep in mind though the camera movement is slow compared to mouse and keyboard. There are a few more options I didn't cover in this guide, so feel free to experiment. If you do get it as smooth as keyboard and mouse let me know and I'll update the guide with the additional specs.
