How to fix Racemenu mod not working
От Ketchup Enema
Racemenu is installed properly but not fully functioning

This guide is intended to help with the installation process for the popular Racemenu mod. The mod itself is fairly easy to install. Just use your favorite mod manager (Vortex or MO2) to add Racemenu and of course the two prerequisites SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) and SkyUI. Current SKSE version is 2.2.6 and Skyrim Special Edition should be 1.6.1170 (without Anniversary DLC) or higher (with Anniversary DLC).

Assuming you installed these 3 mods properly you might still run into an issue where Racemenu doesn't fully work. When you bring up the racemenu either with the showracemenu console command or by starting a new game, you don't see the advertised features such as new sliders and the preset loader tab. You might see two new tabs labeled as "Extras" and "Expressions" or they might appear as "$".

How to fix Racemenu
Assuming you've installed SKSE, SkyUI, and Racemenu and have run the game at least one time, you can do the following steps to fully activate Racemenu.

1. Go to Steamlibrary/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition/Data/Interface
2. Locate a file called racesex_menu.swf.
3. Delete this file.
4. Close the folder and launch Skyrim through your mod manager.
5. Bring up the Racemenu by either using the console command showracemenu or start a new game. Congrats you should now be able to use the Racemenu mod as intended.

If you are starting from a new game, I'd recommend using the Alternate Start mod that way you immediately see the racemenu and skip the lengthy intro cutscene.

What is racesex_menu.swf? I honestly don't know but what I do know is that by deleting this single file Racemenu can now fully function.
