Intro
If you try to persuade Serana to cure herself before completing all of the main storyline quests for Dawnguard, before killing Lord Harkon , her cure option may become unavailable. I will show you how to fix this so you can cure her.
Curing Serana after you've messed up the talks with her.
Using the console, you can toggle some NPC variables for Serana, essentially resetting her dialogue and interactions to the moment immediately after you've killed Harkon. This will allow you to ask her about curing her vampirism again if you previously messed up the conversation and she refuses to discuss it further.

Open the console with Serana in view, click on her to select her RefID (or type prid 02002B74 if she's not in view), and then type the following commands:

  • setpqv DLC1NPCMentalModel TalkedPostQuest_var False

  • setpqv DLC1NPCMentalModel ToldPlayerSheDidntWantCure_var False

  • setpqv DLC1NPCMentalModel CutOffCureDiscussion_var False

NOTE: If Serana is not near the player when setting these commands, teleport her to you after entering the commands but before closing the console window (use moveto player).

Close the console, and Serana will automatically start the conversation she had with you right after killing Harkon. When asking her about curing her vampirism, select the following options (these are roughly what is available):
  • "You could live your life again / the way it was."
  • "Whatever you decide, I will support you."
  • "Can I come with you?"

Serana will tell you she'll go to Falion to get a cure, but that she must do it alone. She'll meet you 'back home,' which could mean a few different locations. Typically, she will return to Fort Dawnguard (if you sided with the Dawnguard), but she has been known to go elsewhere.

Wait three days (or sleep, whatever), and if she doesn't show up in Fort Dawnguard or next to you, just teleport her back to you again (prid 02002B74, then moveto player in the console window).

So far, I haven't encountered any bugs, but if you do, please reply... and thanks for reading!

If you're looking for a stable and reliable modlist for Skyrim Special Edition 1.6.1170 (Current steam build) try out A Dragonborn's Fate! I use it personally with some minor tweaks to give me the core Skyrim experience. They also have guides for other Bethesdia owned titles such as the Fallout games.
