Forest Strider

Fauna disguised as Flora, it uses its tree-like appearance to find prey, usually test subjects that happen to wander into the forests of the test rooms. they catch prey through a large proboscis-like tendril that stabs the victim, then bringing it up to their flytrap-esque mouth, where it is instantly digested through the use of highly corrosive acid that melts flesh. it then throws the spare bones out and relocates to another hunting spot. while their demeanor indicates it being a tree, it is instead a living organism that simply uses trees and other local plants to disguise itself as the trunks of trees. from within the undergrowth, their legs would look like ordinary trunks, where they would be unbeknownst to the larger whole up above the roof of the forest. despite it not sharing likeness to plants in any way, it is still highly flammable, ad will still catch on fire quite easily. entire hunting territories of these faux-trees can be wiped out with a single wildfire. due to this fact and the overall volatility of the test rooms, these giants of the forest are almost at the brink of extinction. however, a humble few have taken to raising a couple specimens in captivity in order to insure their survival.
