A Comprehensive Guide to Crypto Miner Tycoon Simulator
By Thanos
A comprehensive guide to the game Crypto Miner Tycoon Simulator! I have compiled all the information I learned by playing the game from beginning to the end. I love the game so I thought I should share my experience and information as I learn it. I am writing this guide as I progress through the game and have completed the Latin America and North America scenario so far on the first try. A lot of my thoughts and ideas come combined from other information on the discussion forums and a lot of the answers from the developer Bigosaur himself. Hope you find it useful! I have created this guide in a way to explain different mechanics of the game separately so, happily jump and refer to different areas of this guide, free of spoilers if you want to understand a specific thing or drop a comment if I missed out on anything. I will keep Story and Lore related spoilers to a minimum and offer help at the end of the guide in-case you are stuck, with spoiler boilerplates.

Introduction
I will try to create this guide without spoiling the story as much as possible and explaining the game's mechanics from the beginning. However, I will add additional information regarding story plot as spoilers at the end of the guide to help in-case you are stuck since I saw a lot of discussion threads of people facing issues with things here and there. Please let me know your thoughts or anything that I miss in the comments that I can add to the guide as time goes on!
Gameplay Basics
The game simulates actual real-life crypto currency prices from 2010 till 2025 (and beyond, I think). Additionally, the hardware associated to the time-period also comes out regularly as the years progress.

If you play the North America scenario, you will also get a guided tutorial on how to get started mining crypto. Don't get overwhelmed because the beginning of game is pretty slow since you are getting used to setting up your mining corporation but after playing a map or two you quickly realize what you need to do to get started and become a crypto mining overlord! :D

The Controls
Everything in game can be managed through the use of a mouse, however you can use helpful keyboard shortcuts (viewable only on the main menu screen) as I often do for time controls and tile information.

The game is very cleverly designed as an idle automation game, where you cannot control your character's or your employee's movements, but manage the work that they then automatically do.

NOTE: When you hover over any object or button in the game, a helpful text regarding what it does/what you can do it is displayed at the bottom of the screen. I'm not gonna be explaining each and every mouse key or control since the game does a better job at it than I do. ;)

Money and Stock Values (Top left)
The amount of money you currently own is displayed on the topmost and leftmost side of your screen and is followed by several short-hands for stock values for the some cryptocurrencies. It is good to keep a quick eye, not only on your money but on any big changes to the stock prices without opening the Stock Market screen (more on that later, jump to ~~~Stock Market~~~).

The Sidebar (Right side)
The sidebar to the right side of your screen in-game has 8 green buttons on the top which allows you to access (from left to right, top-down)-
  • the Shop, to buy hardware and furniture
  • the Garage, a pocket-dimension to access items you own
  • the Stock Market, only place to buy/sell your crypto-currencies!
  • your Phone, to access your messages(story related), the bank for loans, access games and pay bills
  • your Employees, to manage and hire more employees
  • Marketing, to hype up/down different cryptos
  • Scenario Target, to keep track of the story progress (certain objectives only)
  • and finally the Settings, press [Esc] to access the same menu.
They are followed by 5 green buttons to access the Time Controls, alternatively, you can use [1]-[4] and [Space] to control time.

Finally, there is what I call, the Facilities View which shows a list of all facilities/properties you own and rent.

Below the Facilities View, there is a button to Add Facilities, to buy more properties and Idle Automation, more on that later. (jump to ~~~Automation~~~).

Overlays (Bottom left)
The overlays are a very important tool! They allow you to visualize each tile's dust, heat and noise levels in the form of a color gradient and numerical values on top of each tile in the room itself.
You can turn it on (yellow) and off (green) by hovering over each one for more details.

I personally prefer using the keyboard shortcuts that you can edit in the main menu - [D] for Dust, [H] for Heat and [N] and Noise. You can also manually select a color gradient and a text value separately from one another, for example - if you want to show the dust level values and the temperature color gradient at the same time, etc.
The Stock Market aka Crypto-Currencies aka Coins Screen
There are several different types of crypto-currencies in the game. Some of them you may know, some of them were new to me though. You can open the Stock Market aka the Coin Menu to view the current currencies in play on the map that you are on. You can also use this screen to buy or sell cryptocurrencies.
Some of them are described as follows -
  • Bitcoin - BTC
  • Ethereum - ETH
  • Monero - XMR
  • Litecoin - LTC
  • Dogecoin - DOGE
  • Chia - XCH
NOTE: There may be some more or less currencies in play depending on the map you are playing.

When you are on the Stock Market screen, you can view the tab of each cryptocurrency and view important information. I will use the example of Bitcoin to explain more with examples.

Price : It doesn't say price anywhere on the screen, but the number next to the name of the currency, in this example, $0.06182 - is the Price of Bitcoin if you were to buy or sell it right now.

You have : shows the current amount of bitcoin I own, including bitcoin bought and mined. Let's assume hypothetically, I have 1.00 BTC.

Value : shows the value of the current amount of bitcoin I own. So if I currently owned 1.00 BTC, I will have You have x Price = 0.06182 in Value The game does it automatically for you, so you just need to look at Value to know how much you will get if you were to sell all the currency that you own in one go (There is a limit buy/selling of 100,000 coins of any currency at a time).

Network : This one is a little bit technical but I will explain the Technical Details at the end of this section. In short, network shows the amount of processing power or hash rate that is currently being used AROUND THE WORLD by everyone, including you to mine Bitcoin. Currently, it is 7420.2 MegaHashes/s in this instance.

Your hash rate : This is the amount of processing power you are using to mine a specific crypto currency. I have just started a new game so currently since I'm not mining, it is non-existence.

Technical Information

Now, the explanation - In the real world, some cryptocurrencies have a fixed amount of *blocks* while others have variable amounts to *mine* and upon mining a certain block, you get rewarded with a miniscule amount of that cryptocurrency for decrypting the *hash block*. Even in this game it is pretty similar, but presumably the amount there is infinite and in order to gain profit from any given crypto you need to learn some simple mechanics -
  • Every hour there is a fixed amount of each currency *block* that is distributed. It slowly decreases at time goes on. In order to know, how much of it is currently being distributed, you can open the Software and Mining screen and hover over the Mining section of a currently actively mining rig/device (NOT A FACILITY, if you open this screen from the Facilities View, it will not show you the the following image).

  • In this example, you can see that for me, the Current Block Reward is 150 BTC per hour. This Block gets distributed to the Network depending on their contribution. So how is this useful? Let's assume that the current Network of BTC mining is 100MH/s and my Hash Rate is 1MH/s (Network already includes my Hash Rate). That means every hour, I will get the Current Block Reward x (My Hash Rate/Network Hash Rate) = 150 x (1/100) = 1.5 BTC per hour.

  • Now since I get 1.5 BTC per hour, and using the previous image from the stock market, the Value after 1 hour of mining in-game will be Price x Amount I Own = Value => 0.06182 x 1.5 = $0.09. Of course this is just an example and the real game is much more lucrative than that. But I wanted to use a simple example to explain it. The game automatically does the math for you and tells you your current profit if you mine a certain coin. I will explain some strategies I used or recommend during a new playthrough towards the end of the guide.
