Basic Controls and Inventory Tips
Controls:
  • Movement: Use the arrow keys or WASD to move your character around the environment.
  • Interaction: Left click to use your primary interact with objects and characters. Right click to use your secondary interact which gives descriptions of objects.
  • Menu Access: Open the game menu with the 'Esc' key.
  • Inventory Management: Access your inventory using the 'I' key, where you can manage items, equipment, and resources.

Tips:
Managing your inventory
  • CREATE STORAGE BOXES WITH RECKLESS ABANDON! They only cost 16 scrap to produce and getting an early inventory system will be a life saver.

Auto-Stack
  • Once you have at least one of an item in a box you can use the "Auto-Stack" button to quickly deposit all of an item in the box, useful for quickly unloading your inventory. One of my most used features. You'l see it below with a red square highlighting it.
Inventory sorting.
  • I primarily use this to know the value of items, as gathering money in the beginning can be DAUNTING. Here are the 3 different methods for sorting.

Workbench Storage
  • There is a storage box attached to your workbench. Anything stored in it will be used for any crafting. Super useful to prevent dozens and dozens of little trips running around your storage area.

Splitting Stacks
There are several ways to split item stacks in "Little-known Galaxy":
  • Left Click: Will automatically move the entire stack the first available slot of inventory
  • Shift+Left-Click Menu: Will pick up the entire stack and allow you to place it where you'd like in inventory
  • Right-Click : Will pick up a single item.
  • Shift+Right-Click Menu: Will split the stack in half
Captain Levels and Rewards
Each quarter, the player is evaluated in five different categories: mission objective, crew morale, ship improvements, resource production, and microbe research. Different actions contribute to leveling up these categories, which in turn increase the captain's rank based on the average of all five categories. As the player progresses in each of these categories, they obtain higher captain levels. The player's current rank can always be checked in the captain menu, but ranks are only calculated at the end of a quarter. The specific points needed to reach the next level are set in-game and are not visible to the player.

Mission Objective
The mission objective bar increases every time the captain completes a main story quest, achieving progress toward their primary mission.

Crew Morale
Crew morale rises when the player interacts with crew members for the first time each day, gives gifts, or completes bulletin board quests for them. This essentially increases with any action that boosts friendship points, earning the trust of the crew by building meaningful relationships.

Ship Improvements
Ship improvements progress when the player builds new structures, upgrades the captain's house, restores objects using the restoration ray, or upgrades their tools. Fixing the ship by restoring rundown areas, completing ship upgrades, and tool upgrades all contribute to this category.

Resource Production
Resource production grows when the captain creates items, harvests crops or Xeno products, and collects items produced by machines like recyclers or refiners. This category considers both the value and quantity of crops, contributing to the ship's economy by producing and crafting items. Placing machines or panels on the deck does not add experience to this category.

Microbe Research
Microbe research advances each time the player successfully catches a microbe using the microbe detector, thus monitoring the health of the ship's microbiome by capturing these items for research.

Farming
Farming in Space!

Ahoy, Captain! Ready to transform your spaceship into a lush, floating garden? Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build and manage planters to grow crops both inside and outside your ship. Farming is the most reliable cash source in the game.

Planter Power

We've got two types of planters. Each type comes in two handy sizes. Just check the icons at your workbench to see where each planter belongs—indoors or on the outer hull.

Indoor Planters (Captain's Deck) & Outer Hull Planters (Outer Hull of the Ship):
Crop Planters: Perfect for your veggie dreams. These little guys are small but mighty.
Tree Planters: Go big or go home! These are larger and ready to grow your own mini space forest. But me mindful, these take A LOT of soil to build

Sunlight and Power
Your planters need a dose of artificial sunlight to thrive. Keep those babies powered up by placing solar panels on the hull. Bigger panels = more power. If the power icon flashes, it's a signal from your plants—they need more juice! Keep an eye on your energy needs in the upper right corner of the UI.

Tending to Seeds: The Basics
Space exploration isn’t just for fun; it’s for seeds! Different planets offer different seeds at the store, so get out there and explore. To plant your seeds, make sure your planter is powered, then interact with it while holding the seeds. Water those seeds daily until they’re ready for harvest. Each crop has its own growth timeline, and some are overachievers that produce multiple crops before needing to be replanted.

Tree-rrific
To unlock the tree planter you must complete the mission: Growing Desert Dunes crops . Tree seeds need the big planters. Plant them, wait 28 days, and then enjoy the fruits (literally) of your labor every 10 days. Patience, captain, patience! Plus when you do harvest them you get 3 crops at once.

Waterpacks for fun and profit
Your waterpack is the primary method to water plants for most of the early game. At first your pack can only water a single plant but it has incredible reach! You can water as far as 4 tiles away without moving which can allow for some really fun garden designs. You can also upgrade your pack to allow you to water more plants at a time BUT your proximity to the plants is much more important, often requiring you to be right next to them.

Water pack upgrades
Pros
Cons
No upgrade
Can water crops up to 4 spaces away
Free, requires no payments
Only waters 1 at a time
Very Slow
Holds only 40 water
1st upgrade
Waters 3 at a time
Holds 60
Inexpensive upgrade
Requires you to be next to crops
2nd upgrade
Waters 6 at a time
Holds 80
Gets pricey to upgrade 1500 credits
Can be tricky to change water pattern configuration
3rd upgrade
Waters 9 at a time
Holds 100 water
So, so expensive at 4000 credits 10 gold & 10 titanium blocks
Can be tricky to change water pattern configuration

Water, water everywhere and bots to give plants drink
Don’t forget to water your plants every day. If you miss a day, your plants won’t die, but they’ll delay their growth. Pictures and info fromhttps://lkg.wiki.gg/wiki/Farming

Hydration Station: Water your plants with a trusty watering pack or let the watering bots do the work. These little helpers come in three tiers and are specially designed for indoor and outdoor use.

Garden bot waters 4 squares, you can change the pattern it waters by right clicking before you place it.

Garden bot waters 8 squares, you can change the pattern it waters by right clicking before you place it.

Garden bot waters 14 squares, you can change the pattern it waters by right clicking before you place it.

Outer bots work the same as interior bots
All Crops Guide
Here is Skeldi's min-max excel guide[docs.google.com]. An awesome resource!

Below will be my advice
Best raw crops, based on value per day.
  • Grey Planet - Corn 7/day
  • Blue Reef - Cucumber both Watermelon 6.67/day
  • Desert Dunes - Beans 8.67/day, Tomatoes 8.4/day
  • Iceladus - Broccoli 5.3/day
  • Lava Lakes - Pepper 6.5/day
Best juiced crops, based on value per day
  • Grey Planet - Carrots 10.33/day
  • Blue Reef - Cucumber 11.17/day
  • Desert Dunes - Tomato 7.75/day Still better sold raw
  • Iceladus - Squash 10.83/day
  • Lava Lakes - Strawberry 4.2/day (Turn to wine)
Best fermented crops, based on value per day
  • Lava Lakes - Strawberry 11.69/day
  • Store - Rice 9/day
  • Xeno - Nectar 8.33/day

There are a lot of different options on how you could best go about doing this, I can only tell you what has worked for me so far. I have multiple advanced garden bots. These seem to be the most economical since silver ore is decently easy to find/buy. I have 10 bots set up and most are growing cucumbers that i refine with juicers. This is definitely a mid-late strategy, as juicers require a decent amount of supplies(but all purchasable) to build and require a lot of energy. But with my 20 juicers i am making 1.6k every 2 days. Mind you, my main play through hasn't reached lava lakes yet.

I prioritize my fertilizer to my raw sold ingredients like tomatoes sine little benefits from "super" versions.
Exploration
General Tips for Exploration
Upgrade Your Tools:
  • Prioritize upgrading your blaster and shovel first, as they are essential for breaking obstacles and digging up items. BUT, remember it takes a few days to upgrade them which can so you down considerably so be sure you have other things to do those days.
Prices for upgrades
1st upgrade
500 credits
3 aluminium blocks, made by placing 5 ore in furnace, found on grey planet and blue reef
3 scrap metal blocks, made by placing 10 scrap metal in furnace, found everywhere
2nd upgrade
Credits × 1,500
6 Copper blocks, made by placing 5 ore in furnace, found on blue reef and Desert Dunes
3 Silver blocks, made by placing 5 ore in furnace, found on desert dunes and Iceladus
3rd upgrade
Credits × 4,000
10 Titanium blocks, made by placing 5 ore in furnace, found on Lava Lakes
10 Gold blocks, made by placing 5 ore in furnace, found on Iceladus and Lava Lakes

Manage Your Energy:
  • Always keep an eye on your stamina. Use energy-boosting forageable items like seaweed from Blue Reef or space radishes to keep going.
  • Coffee costs 32 credits and restores 35 energy. You can buy it in numerous places and it is at least liked by 21 crew members! It's a loved gift for Frances and Stewart. Only Kendall and Sprout don't like it.

Exploration by Planet Zone
1. Grey Planet:
  • Objective: Build a strong farm by gathering soil, then clear exploration areas for Sprout quest and reward.
Key Activities:
  • Mine for aluminum ore and other basic resources.
  • Help Soot in a cave by growing 3 corn, 3 soybean and buying 2 food rations from Chip's Cantina
  • Stockpile resources for future missions and for the trip to the next planet
2. Blue Reef:
  • Objective: Complete mission from the king.
Key Activities:
  • Grow 10 ginger plants and make 12 vitamins(need 70 minerals and medicine machine).
  • Collect seaweed and other unique marine resources.
  • Focus on grinding copper, it is sparse and it'll be a while before you can buy it from the vendor
3. Desert Dunes:
  • Objective: Craft items and gather resources for missions.
Key Activities:
  • Grow jute for burlap fabric.
  • Collect scrap steel and silver.
  • Upgrade your blaster and shovel to clear exploration areas more efficiently.
4. Iceladus:
  • Objective: Grow crops and craft items for missions.
Key Activities:
  • Grow cotton for fabric and squash for missions.
  • Bake blueberry muffins and gather other cold-weather crops.
  • Upgrade your quarters and gather necessary resources like aluminum and silver.
5. Lava Lakes:
  • Objective: Gather high-tech resources and craft advanced items.
Key Activities:
  • Grow irradiated peppers and pineapple.
  • Collect titanium and craft nanobots.
  • Use the microbe detector to find rare resources like carbon nanotubes.
6. Viridis:
  • Objective: Focus on farming and botanical research.
Key Activities:
  • Explore lush environments and gather diverse flora.
  • Complete botanical research missions.
  • Utilize the resources gathered for advanced crafting and farming enhancements.

Tips
Uncovering the transporters can take a lot of energy but if you find rocks side-by-side horizontally you can often stand between them and shot them both for less energy!

Resource Stockpiling:

Always stockpile essential resources like aluminum, copper, and silver before moving to the next planet. It takes a couple days to transition and you'll want to keep your machines processing the whole time while you microbe hunt.
Romance Characters
Romancable Crew

Quick tip, once you hit "Friend" with a romancable character I strongly recommend buy a date invitation for 400 credits from Roberts store. A steep price early on BUT you gain sooooooo much friendship, they are super cute and they are one of the best ways to get to know the characters better!

Making Money
Farming
  • This is the way to make money for most of the game. See my crops section for a detailed guide on how to use farming to make money. I recommend carrots for the first week or two, then corn with fertilizer. Once you get to the 3rd planet you'll want to focus on tomatoes, they have a super high sell value raw which is optimal, though each seed costs 50 credits so be sure to save up before you get there!

Microbes
I really enjoy the finding of microbes. I really hate the mini-game. In the menu you can go to settings and slow the game down or even disable it entirely. I disable it so I can't give many tips of completing it other than to upgrade your microbe finder ASAP to get more game leeway.
Microbes are decent for cash, ranging on average from 6-25g each
Remember that some microbes are using in crafting recipes
Health Tonic
  • Ingredients: Probiotics x 1
  • Workbench: Recycler
  • Time: 10 hours
  • Sell Price: 20 credits

Premium Fertilizer
  • Ingredients: Probiotics/Good x 1
  • Workbench: Microbe compost machine
  • Time: 20 hours
  • Sell Price: 7 credits per unit
Good bacteria makes 2-4 an premium fertilizer, the super versions of them create even more fertilizer, i usually get 7.

Refining

Juicers:
Convert crops like soybeans into soy milk. You unlock it through leveling up your captain level. All the parts to create it can be bought in Edwards show and it only take 2 energy to power BUT it takes 44 hours to convert 1 cucumber to a juice. Not a bad option but a lot of materials for low output
  • Value Increase: Soybeans (10 credits) to soy milk (45 credits).
  • Unlock: Unlocked by captain lvl 5, materials purchasable from Edward's shop.
It takes a long time to unlock, captain lvl 5, but once you do you'll change up your whole setup. I currently have 125ish crops and 80 juicers, i grow squash and make 6k every few days. I've been on Lava Lakes for a few days but have over 20k credits sitting in the bank.

Metal Processing:
Smelt ores into refined metals. I usually recommend keeping all building components but if you do sell metal it sells for much more as furniture, less as blocks and even less as ore. I'd recommend waiting until you have the advanced furnace before even considering this option.
  • Unlock: Unlocked as part of the early crafting quests.

Fiber Weavers
Convert raw materials into fabric.
  • Unlock: Unlocked as you progress through the mid-game crafting missions.
A lot of things can be tossed in to create refined cloth that can be valuable. The cloth itself is usually only worth a very small price increase just some of the furnishings can be worth a decent amount. Still easier to just work with farming though.
Still under construction!
I know there is still quite a bit missing.

I plan on adding a walk through of main quests and an explanation of events/locations but I am currently not yet finished with the game and it feels wrong to look up that info to make a guide >,<

Feel free to leave comments and things you think I should add! Any interesting tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!!

See you out there!

Xenos
Xeno-palooza: Your New Best Space Buddies!

Hey there, future Xeno parent! Get ready to welcome some out-of-this-world critters onto your ship. Meet the Xenos: your new lovable, hatchable space pets. These little guys start their journey as Xeno eggs. You can find eggs from shooting grass or you can snag a specific species egg or roll the dice with a random species egg from RoBuy. Once you've discovered a species from the random egg, you 've unlocked them for future purchasing.

Patience, dear captain, is key. Xeno eggs need five whole days of cozy incubating before they pop out. After hatching, they go through three adorable growth stages. With a little TLC, they might even surprise you with a top-tier version of their base item.

Our little Xeno friends grow into their teenage years after ten days and blossom into adults once they hit thirty friendship points. (Think of it as space puberty but way cuter.)

Keep your Xenos grinning by feeding them plant material daily. Happy Xenos mean happy products! Don’t worry, they won’t kick the bucket if you miss a day or two—they’ll just give you the silent treatment and withhold their goodies.

Housing your Xenos is a breeze! Choose between the small pod, which fits four Xenos, or the large pod, perfect for eight. Both come with the option to upgrade to an auto-feeding system that pulls plant material straight from a feed repository on the captain's deck.

So gear up, get those eggs, and start your Xeno adventure today. Your ship's about to get a whole lot more fun and fuzzy!

Quick gift reference guide
Get ready for the ultimate space buddy guide! Here’s a delightful list of all your favorite characters, neatly alphabetized, with their most beloved (and easiest to find) gifts. Think of it as your go-to cheat sheet for making friends in the cosmos!

Her are my personal recommendation and tips for how i maxed out.
- I keep a chest with their favorite items near the exit on the captains deck
- On Monday/Tuesday I spend most the day giving gifts and chatting.
- The characters schedules reset on Sunday but they can be in weird places on the weekends.
- During the rest of the week I will chat with anyone in proximity to my other activities but if you seek them out you'll find 1/2 to 2/3rds of your day gone. Gotta set priorities.
On Friday I double check that I gave everyone 2 presents, if not i try to tick those off before the week resets on Sunday.

@Geekette828 I did give them credit, in multiple places, including the introduction to the guide. This is from the guide description "A lot of the info in this guide comes from multiple wiki pages but primarily from https://lkg.wiki.gg/wiki/Little-Known_Galaxy_Wiki
They have absolutely fantastic materials and I highly recommend you check out their page !"

A lot of this was pulled directly from the wiki, some of it word-for-word. Generally you should give credit if you're using a source for your article... and not pull it word-for-word.
