Introduction
WARNING: This guide contains spoilers for nearly all of the content in Super Dark Deception.

Need help collecting any achievements in Super Dark Deception? Well, you've come to the right place! There are achievements scattered throughout the entirety of the game, so let's break them all down.

If you wish to use this guide for help, ensure you are on the latest version (v1.2.4). To check your game's version, refer to the upper right corner of the main menu.

There are no missable achievements in this game (as in things you would need to reset the game for if you happen to not receive them). REPLAY mode (third option on the left in the main menu), will be your way of netting any missed achievements during the main story. Fortunately, this works for obtaining every single one tied to the campaign. Your choice of difficulty also doesn't matter, as everything can be obtained in easy mode (including S-Ranks).

NOTE: While Super Dark Deception keeps getting updates featuring new levels and content, this guide will be incomplete and a work in progress until the game is finalized. It currently goes up to the "Stranger Sewers" level (end of Chapter 1). As such, this guide will be constantly changing until then. When the next chapter drops, this guide's contents will constantly change as new information becomes available.

Also, some players have had issues getting certain achievements that are indeed possible. If you think you met the criteria (and it isn't on the above list), try closing and reopening the game and it should pop up during the intro.

Eyesore
Agitate Malak's eye.
At any point after completing Monkey Business in the main story, head up the stairs in Bierce's Ballroom to Malak's door. Run around in front of his eye until you hear him say "I see you." He can also say "I'm going to enjoy watching you suffer.", but it's not required for nabbing this achievement.

Sixth Sense
Find a secret room.
Every stage has at the very least two secret rooms to discover. Refer to any of the S-Rank achievements for specific locations, as finding secrets is a required component of S-Ranking levels.

Sacrificial Mortal
Die 10 times.
Chances are you'll be dying a lot in this game, and you're rewarded after ten times. Not much else to say here other than that the giant ring altar in the Archive Room's center also displays your death toll as a game stat.

No Turning Back
Complete Chapter 1.
Completing Stranger Sewers marks the end of the game's first chapter. Whence you're back in the ballroom and see the Crazy Carnevil portal activate, Chapter 2 begins.

Competent Mortal
Obtain all Chapter 1 achievements.
All of the achievements in this guide currently comprise the Chapter 1 achievements, so start hunting for them!
Monkey Business

Service, Please!
Ring the service bell 10 times.
For those who played the original Dark Deception, you'll recognize this one. At the very start of the level, head up and interact with the service bell. After ten rings, the Monkey cutout should appear, prompting the achievement to unlock.

Monkey King
Earn an S-Rank in Monkey Business.
The description says it all. A strong piece of advice is to use stereo headphones, which can help clue you in on the locations of monsters and how close they are.

Secret Locations:
Secrets #1 & #2 (Zone Gameplay):
Both of this stage's secrets are hidden behind unlocked doors in the hotel. Simply interact with the doors to the correct rooms, and they will open. Unlike the original Dark Deception, rooms housing secret files aren't always on the minimap. Consequently, I've provided map guides for each stage that show the exact locations for every secret in the mazes.

Map Guide:
Elementary Evil

Top Student
Earn an S-Rank in Elementary Evil.
Beating Agatha at her own game with an S Rank will net you this achievement. With this being the first level with two zones, it's important to note that there is double the number of bonus shards and secret files to be found.

Secret Locations:
Secrets #1, #2 & #3 (During Zone 1):
Similar to Monkey Business, all of this stage's secret files are behind unlocked doors. Look below for the correct locations.

Secret #4 (During Zone 2):
Given how much on the offensive Agatha is in this zone, it's highly suggested you immediately gun it for the secret file, which is north of where the zone starts.

Map Guides:

Deadly Decadence

Death From Above
Killed by one of Titan Watcher's axes.
Dying this way is actually a bit more difficult than you'd first imagine due to how aggressive Phantom Malak and the supporting Gold Watchers are. While Titan Watcher does throw his axes a bit randomly sometimes, a fair strategy is to lure the enemies to one side of the courtyard, and bolt to the other side to for a bit more control.

Fancy Lad
Earn an S-Rank in Deadly Decadence.
Besting the Gold Watchers with excellence is not an easy task, but ultimately a satisfying one to complete. Traps are the newest addition to this stage, and failure to be keep careful with them will cost you dearly.

Secret Locations:
Secret #1 (After Zone 1):
The first secret is found next to the hedge maze on the right side. Open the gate, be wary of the traps, and snatch the file.

Secret #2 (During Zone 2):
The second secret is found on the left side of the manor's interior. Interact with the wall to make it raise and head inside.

Secret #3 (During Zone 2):
The third secret is found behind another walled-off area. Interact with the walls and go around the corner to find the secret. Interestingly enough, this and the next secret have soul shards to collect in their secluded areas.

Secret #4 (During Zone 2):
While one of the more complex secrets, the process is nothing too obscure. First, you need to pull this lever to unlock the gated-off, northern area of the maze (a brief cutscene will play when you do this). Next, head up through the now accessible area and you should find the secret on the upper left side.

Map Guides:

Stranger Sewers

Dirty Dancing
Dance with a hidden group of Dread Duckies.
Check further down on the guide for the location of the third secret. After riding down the lift, you'll see some harmless, dancing Dread Duckies. Idle in front of them for 10 seconds to join dancing alongside them. It's also worth noting that you can only do this achievement while playing as Doug Houser.

Sewer Surfer
Earn an S-Rank in Stranger Sewers.
As the game progresses, enemies evolve beyond simple chasers. The duckies are the first of many monsters with the power to stun you from a distance, and level hazards (such as water that slows players down) are becoming more present.

Secret Locations:
Secret #1 (Before Zone 1):
At the beginning of the stage, head up and raise the wall. After climbing the ladder, you'll be face-to-face with the first secret file.

Secrets #2 & #3 (During Zone 2):
The remaining secrets are found through keypads scattered in the sewers. Interact with them to ride down the lifts and collect the files.

Map Guides:

Archive Room

Body Swap
Change your character in the Archive Room.
Before you even begin Chapter 1, you're able to change your character skin in the Archive Room. The bonus tab has various guests, and toggling any of them secures you the achievement. This works for every possible playable character, these are just the earliest options and the only ones available before playing any stages.

Thrifty Shopper
Buy your first item from the Archive Room vending machine.
While you can access the Archive Room and the vending machine right out of the gate, soul shards are the currency. You need to complete at least Monkey Business to have enough for a purchase.

A Good Listener
Listen to a Bierce diary entry in the Archive Room.
After S-Ranking a stage (refer to any of the S-Rank achievements for specifics on doing this; easiest is "Monkey King" from Monkey Business), you're able to play its associated Bierce diary in the Archive Room. The achievement should unlock immediately upon playing a diary as you don't even have to listen to the full thing.

'E' Notes

Avid Reader
Find and read the first 4 notes from 'E'.
'E', the mysterious wanderer who explored these nightmares before the protagonist, has a secret note in each stage. Interacting with it will trigger a cutscene, and players must view the first four to nab this achievement.

Locations:
Monkey Business:
In the same room as Secret #2, head to the lower part of the right wall.

Elementary Evil:
Those who achievement-hunted the original Dark Deception will know this area for certain. In the southern area of Zone 2, there's an out of place fake wall that can be interacted with. Doing so will unearth Agatha's hiding place with the 'E' resting on the well to the left.

Deadly Decadence:
When you pull the lever to open up the path to Secret #4 in Zone 2, keep exploring that area until you find the room with the gold smelter (Bierce will comment on it when you arrive there).

Stranger Sewers:
In the same place as Secret #3 and the "Dirty Dancing" achievement, keep going right until you hit the end of the wall.

I agree that shard locations would be nice, but it'd be a lot of work for something pretty minor. I doubt it'll happen unless I can find a way to streamline the process of adding those

I guess special shard locations would be a nice addition for planning ahead.

As long as you hit the level's required shard streak at any point in the level, you should be fine
Zachery (Vincent) Callahan 10. Okt. 2024 um 18:30
And the shard streaks?
Do I gotta reach them or be at them when ending the level?

Yeah it was patched and you're correct: every level so far except Monkey Business allows for a lost life.

Extra lives do not help in any additional way unfortunately. They only exist to reduce game overs (something irrelevant in the S Rank process)

Do extra lifes count as a life lost or not?

@UnrealPenguine
From the looks of it (I am playing months after these comments) you can die at least once in all chapters now exept Monkey Business.
And idk about you but I wanna S-rank these in Story Mode.
Which means I only have the powers provided to me and not even a single one in MB!
UnrealPenguine 30. Juli 2024 um 12:31
true, but not everyone's perfect, and there's a secret level for s ranks and as someone who loved 100%'ing games it's gonna be so annoying to have to constantly trial and error. They should at least make the time a little higher, or maybe make it one death maximum for ss or dd. That's just my opinion.
