All-in-one guide to play Blood 2 on modern systems

Complete guide to play original Blood 2 on modern computers.

Pre-requisites

• Download latest stable version of dgVoodoo from here[dege.freeweb.hu].

• Download high resolution patch from here[www.gamepressure.com].

• Download widescreen fix from here[www.gamepressure.com].

Graphics Fix

• Extract CLIENT.EXE from Blood2ResPatch.zip to Blood 2 installation path and replace with the original CLIENT.EXE.

• Create a folder named "Custom" (without quotes) in Blood 2 installation folder. Extract contents of blood2_widescreenpatch_v2.zip to Custom folder.

• Extract contents of dgVoodoo zip file to any location.

• Copy all dll files in dgVoodoo\MS\x86 folder to Blood 2 installation folder.

• Right click to dgVoodooCpl.exe and select Run as Administrator.

• Click Add and select the Blood 2 installation folder.

• On DirectX tab, increase VRAM value like 1024 MB or above, select Force anisotropic 16x for Filtering, 8x for Antialiasing and untick Disable Alt+Enter to toggle screen state.

• Click Apply and OK.

• Game is designed and must be run at 60 fps to fix most of the graphical issues. If you have Nvidia graphics card, you can simply use Nvidia Control panel to limit the CLIENT.EXE fps to 60.

If you have graphics card other than Nvidia, you can use several softwares to cap the fps. RivaTuner is the most popular one.

Game Graphics Settings

• Open Blood 2.

• Click Display. Select dgVoodoo DirectX Wrapper and your desired resolution.

• Click Customize. If you want to play Blood 2, add WidescreenPatch.REZ. If you want to play Blood 2 Nightmares, add WidescreenPatchNm.REZ. You shouldn't add both of them at the same time. Use appropriate REZ file, Blood 2 or Nightmares. Select Always load these rez files.

• Click Advanced. Make the settings as seen on the screenshot below and click OK. You can change the FoV value as you wish. In my opinion, 120 is the best value for 16:9 resolutions.

Mouse fix

• Start the game. Game might open in window mode and window position might be wierd. To fix this, just press alt+enter or alt+tab several times or minimize/maximize and it will be fullscreen.

• Some main control keys are unassigned by default like fire, duck, jump. First, check all key bindings and set them properly.

• Go to mouse settings and pull the Input slider rightmost. Adjust mouse sensitivity as you wish.
