Introduction
Hello esteemed researchers and welcome to the (now under siege) Gate Cascade Research facility. I am Dr. V and I am your favorite Doctor now. Today I will be giving you a full guide from game play basics all the way to more advanced things and this guide will be divided into ultra basic things all the way to more spoiler heavy parts so read at your own risk.

Many dangers await you

Now, Onward to science!
Food and Water- Basic
Now for your most basic of basic things your scientist needs to eat and drink, so you need food and water. There are many sources of food and water throughout the facility along with many means of being able to store the water for your uses. Along with tons of different recipes for cooking.

Water and you
The sickness makes it taste better

Now there are plenty of sources of water throughout the facility your easiest and first exposure to the water will be a sink full of water.

Free water, as a treat

Now the sink water will refill over time but it is considered clean so it is a good source of water when starting out before you mange to get better water storage going.

Now for your next step up for basic water storage you will want to find a water cooler.
Perfect for talking about office work

Now you can find these in plenty of places around the facility and it is heavily recommended that you collect them as they are a great source of clean water when first starting out.

Purifying Water
Gotta clean it up to cook

Now for purifying water I find it to be a task that is VERY slow which is why I stated above it is better to steal as many water coolers that you can and fill them with sinks as they refill. Tainted water is still good for cleaning yourself but if you would need to get to purifying it it will be a pain. I have manged to find enough water coolers to sustain me in my travels before future improvements were unlocked for purification. Just ration well and make sure to take time to fill up at every sink with either your water bottle, cooler, bucket, or barrel. For weight reasons I usually carried just a single water cooler as it fits enough from a few sinks without weighing down your scientist too much.

For actual purification you will need to get tainted water into a cooking pot. I recommend to fill a whole cooler or barrel with tainted water and placing it next to your stove that you will purify with.
Fill the pot

After acquiring the tainted water you just need to boil it to purify it as shown below
Set it down

Boil

Why I say purifying is very slow

Another way to get some idle water is to leave a bucket in a sink.
drippy

It takes a while but its still a good way to get some starting water.

Better purification methods will be in a later section as to avoid spoilers this early in the guide. See the section entitled Food and Water- Advanced

Food
I'm starving!

Now food is a thing that starting out is hard but later on becomes much less of a worry, if you have properly prepared. Food can be scavenged from most containers and cabinets and you will find things such as cans of peas, saltz, and some other goodies while searching. For more obtainable respawning food you want to kill the exors.

If we were supposed to be vegan why are these made out of food?

Simply calmly kill the exor and chop it up to receive its meat.
You can tell something can be chopped up if its corpse shows this knife icon when hovering over it, of course you need a sharp object to be able to "butcher" it

Meat

Now upon acquiring meat you need to cook it. The simplest way would be to pan fry it on a stove or make it into a soup. For this section we will only be discussing pan frying as soups will be under Food and Water- Intermediate.

To pan fry first you need a stove and a pan. You can either find a stove such as this one.

Or you can make your own with a powered crafting bench.

Now I suggest making your own so then you have the availability to go wherever you want and cook whenever you want. You will also want to craft either some makeshift pots and pans unless you find one in the world. Which when starting out you should have more than enough pans and pots within the cafeteria to give you a good head start and they can be found in the facility very easily.

Now with your pan simply slap that meat down and get it frying. But make sure to watch it as it can burn and you must take it off at the proper time.

Left is perfectly cooked, right is burnt make sure to watch for the texture and sound change

Vending Machines aka: food for money

Now throughout the facility there is plenty of vending machines that can provide food and drink for money along with some special items that can be used in crafting later.
Main two vending machines

Now these two give you sodas and snacks which some of these can be used in other recipes so it is good to collect certain items from them as you discover them, provided you have the funds.

Slushies and Coffee

Now these two are not as common as the normal machines but they are very useful nonetheless. Coffee can give good effects for early game speed, and both of these are used in crafting recipes I highly suggest a good scientist becomes familiar with both of these machines.

Now this is your basics of food and water you can find more advanced stuff in the later sections but this is the gist of it as to avoid many spoilers.
Food and Water- Intermidate
So you want to be more of a chef?

This section of food and water will be discussing your mid tier of recipes being SOUP, and other crafted recipes. For crafted recipes such as some fish dishes you'll want to make the following table.
Its a table, but for chefs

Here you can butcher fish and also craft certain food items. Have fun discovering and prepping.

Soups come in many shapes and sizes and the way to discover them is just to start slapping things into pots of clean water. So to soup you must have a cooking pot full of clean water and a working stove burner.

The beginnings of something wonderful (hopefully)

Once your pot is added put in your ingredients and you will hopefully discover a good soup recipe.

You can have this recipe for free, as a treat

Once your soup is done slap that bad larry down on the floor and get ready to sip it.

Now to sip your soup youll need a soup bowl. You can craft one at your powered crafting bench
The receptacle of sippin

After scouping up your soup enjoy it and the benefits that come with soup as most soups give a good buff to your scientist.
Souper

Now if you want every soup recipe I will have those listed in the section Soup Spoilers, as discovering stuff is half the fun.
Food and Water- Advanced
Now this section will go over the more advanced and later parts of food and water being baking and the water purifier. Now this part you would of needed to of reached the Labs section of the facility to unlock the recipe for the water purifier and you need cooking level 10 to unlock the oven, along with materials from the lab to build said item.

Water Purification
No more thirst

Now this bad boy here will solve all your silly little science issues of water. All you gotta do is get some refined carbon from labs and them boom, you can make this.

Carbon Box

Impressive, very nice

Upon building this you can filter up to a whole barrel full of tainted water at once to make clean water. And there is no time delay currently so it is fast and efficient to produce clean water.

Advanced Food: Level 10+

Now were at the big boy time of cooking being the oven.

Now were cooking

The oven is the currently the most advanced stage of cooking at the time of writing and its biggest plus is it can make food that has higher stacks than the 2 soups or (usually) 4 meats and drinks. You will need both cooking level ten and to unlock the recipe upon finding carbon within the labs and a caprice in the mycofields to make carbon plating.

Jessie, we need to bake

The oven, along with level 10 cooking, unlocks many other foods as stated above and at least with these you get the recipes instead of having to find them like soups. Just make sure to watch the oven as it does like burning or taking a very long time for many things, but the foods are much better overall, however most of them do not give buffs like soup so it is best to experiment with what suits your playstyle.
Crafting and looting
Crafting: Your bench and you

Now for one of the biggest components of the facility, crafting and obtaining loot. To craft you're going to need a powered crafting bench.
You will spend a lot of time here

The bench itself is something you will learn to make within the starting area of the game and prepare for it to be your friend as this is where you will science your way through the whole facility. You can give upgrades to your bench using the bench upgrades tab which you will see in the upper right hand of your crafting interface after interacting with the bench

Right up here

Get upgrading

Now out of all these upgrades in my fully correct opinion you must make the portal suppression field as soon as possible, as it will prevent one of the raid types at night, more on that in the section entitled Facility Nights. Following that your quality of life upgrade would be the item transporter as being able to get items straight to your bench rather than going back and forth between storage is a life saver when you really get into crafting. There isn't much more to speak on about the crafting it is an intuitive system and you will unlock recipes as you continue along picking up items and brainstorming.

Looting: Everything in the facility is now yours

Now for what you will be doing to fuel your crafting efforts, looting. I have a short list of very basic tips for this.
  • Open every container possible and take all, you will thank me later when you have plenty of resources for every occasion
  • If something is new, pick it up it helps you learn
  • Butcher every body and corpse as they are made of resources too
  • If you're low on space craft storage as getting rid of items can hinder you later as you never know what you would need for future crafting.
  • Some items are purely decorative but they're still great to have around to make your base nice
  • Disassemble every furniture type too as some of them are used in crafting also.
  • Break the breakables

Now to tell if something is hiding more resources in it, it will have this little icon over it.

Smashing

Now mostly all furniture can be broken for more basic resources, see image below, but items with this icon will have more specific special resources and should be harvested.

Your basic resources being
Paper, tech scrap, cloth scrap
glass, wood, plastic, and metal

Now I don't care if you feel like you are limited on space or anything, build more. You can never have enough of these resources and you don't want to hit a dreaded resource wall and get stuck waiting for a portal world reset to get more, which that will be explained in the section entitled Portal Worlds and Portal Things

For resource gathering also say hello to your friends, Mr. Hammer and Mr. Screwdriver.
Your friends

Now the screwdriver is what you will use for disassembly and building most items and your hammer is for when you want to repair or make sure an item gets broken down into its basic components. With these two you will be able to grab pretty much everything in the facility and harvest all the resources you'd ever want. I always have a screwdriver on me but for the hammer I only take it when I want to do mass disassembly as most of the time for furniture I break it with a normal mele weapon when I'm not as concerned for max resources.

Repair and Salvaging

Now your final part of crafting that should be right next to your bench is the repair and salvage station.
Look at the way it sits there, ready to repair and salvage

Now at this station you can repair the durability of most objects and your gear along with breaking down excess items to its base components. Which you will have to do for some resources, an example being leather. You can hover over mostly any item and it will tell you what the resource will be if you salvage it.

The tomato is made of tomato seed

It is highly suggested to always see what things can be salvaged into as you can find many resources this way, plus keeping your gear repaired is the duty of any good scientist.
Health and Sleep
A healthy scientist is a happy scientist

Now here comes to a more advanced thing that one should monitor, keeping your scientist alive. There are many statuses that can affect how our scientist is doing which is divided between status and health issues.

plenty to choose from

Now statuses is your basic things such as food and water levels along with any buffs or temperature effects. Health issues would be things such as broken bones, bleeding, sicknesses, or other issues which should be addressed as soon as possible. You have a good variety of healing and anti status items to keep on you or to find within the facility, which can all be seen by holding down X when they are in your inventory for a quick wheel to use them.

The wheel of heal

Now these will be for mostly anything that seems to be ailing you. Bandages for bleeding, the green juice for health, orange juice and iodine for radiation, and splints for when you break your legs. I always keep some way to gain health and bandages in my inventory. I consider legs as optional and there are ways to mitigate radiation before it becomes a problem, such as wearing an environmental protection suit, this topic will be further extrapolated on in the section entitled Armor and Gear.

Sleep
Now sleep is an important thing for any scientist as if you sleep at night it does slightly speed up time to end the nights sooner. To sleep you either need a long couch or a bed (which will require a long couch to make)
Long couch example
Bed

Upon sleeping you will get to play a fun minigame too which is nice to make you get more sleep per sleep.
Pro snoozer

Other than that there is not much more to discuss just make sure to watch your health and tooltips on the left side of the screen along with checking the status menu to keep your guy alive.

Dying and you, a quick overview of death
Shi- Science Happens

Now when you die (it will happen) you get to respawn in either the starting cafeteria or your bed. Your items will be dropped in a small loot bag in the location where you died. The current penalty for dying is you will drop all items not on your person or in your toolbar and the items in the aforementioned area will take a durability hit (if applicable). Not too harsh of a penalty but still trekking back to get your items can be a pain at times.

Temperature
brrrrrrr

Now in some zones of the facility it is either too cold or too hot, which also depends on your clothing. It is not a complicated system and you can see your current temperature near the bottom left of your screen to see how your character is feeling, along with checking your watch which will show the temperature.

It will show when important

To rectify this just watch your clothing and status effects as most can be migrated by either heaters or going to cooler areas, depending on the ambient temperature.
Armor and Gear
A good scientist is an equipped scientist

Geared for my saftey

Now your categories of gear are first off your armor which contains four pieces being head, arms, torso, and legs. A shield, a head trinket, a normal trinket, full body suits, and finally your hacker tool.
Armor will come with set bonuses usually at 2 pieces and then four pieces depending on the armor itself. Some armors give minor buffs or effects for singular items, such as small exp increases for certain tasks. Its best to make sure to watch your armor rating and armor weight seen here.
Rating and weight

Now your armor rating will be what reduction in damage you will receive from damage sources so higher rating=less damage. Weight will control your movement speed so a high armor weight will make you slow however you will more than likely have a higher armor rating to compensate. Find armors that suit you and your play style. Shields will also play into your armor weight but these will be covered more in the section entitled Combat.

Full Body Suits

Now the full body suit can give you some special effects that you cannot obtain normally. Your most common suit you will find will be the Hazardous materials suit.
Keep the radiation way for a happy day

Now there is other suits that you will come across in the future but as for right now I highly suggest always keeping one of these in your inventory as you will never know when some radiation will sneak up on you. While it does slow you down and makes you thirsty quicker it is a lot better than getting radiation sickness.

The Hacking Tool
Hackerman

Now the hacking tool is something you will end up being able to craft as you progress within the story and you will upgrade it as time goes along. Just keep track of locked doors and in no time you will get more parts of the facility open for you to explore.

Trinkets
The best cube

Now trinkets are a necessary item that can have good use for some of them, but most of them, currently, are purely decorative. Have fun searching the facility and seeing what you can find as a certain couple of them will be discussed in the more spoiler heavy sections.

Backpacks and Inventory
This fills up quicker than you think

Now we come to the fun part of wanting to grab everything you see. Weight limits and storage space. As you progress you will obtain better backpacks which will give you both more storage space and weight reduction however to start you will be very limited. Weight reduction is essentially how much weight the backpack will reduce from stored items, which a good tip here is to know if an item is in your hotbar it will have less weight than if it was in your backpack. Some backpacks also have special buffs such as greater battery life in your items for example. Besides this make sure to watch your weight bar overall. If it is yellow you stamina will recover but at a much slower rate and your movement speed will be slowed. Light red you will get no stamina recovery. Dark red you are extremely slow and will even have delays from when you're allowed to jump.
Skills and how to level them
I got the skills to pay the bills

Now for skills some are more useful than others but I will go over how to level each of them because as a solo player I wanted all of them. For all skills there is both soups and armor that can give you a moderate skill exp gain buff and it is up to you to discover them for your own as discovery is half the fun however the simplest trick instead of trying to cook tons of different things or find armor is to simply eat brains. Chop any human corpse then salvage its skull to grab a brain and munch down on it (ignore the puking), then you will receive a nice 20% exp boost while you grind out these skills.

Sprinting
nyoom

Now sprinting is one of the easiest skills to level, simply just sprint. Drinking coffee will be your cheapest and easiest method to make sure your sprint bar lasts longer but this is an easy passive skill to level as sprinting everywhere is a very easy thing to do.

Strength
Pump it up

Now strength is another easy skill to level, especially when you unlock the ability to shake the vending machines. My simplest method is to first get your weight to light red so you still gain exp as if you're in dark red you will not gain any, then go to any area with two vending machines next to each other and simply walk side to side while shaking both of them. You'll gain strength (and snacks) in no time. Also wearing heavy armor helps too.

Throwing
Think fast

Now throwing is a very slow process to level however if you feel that the perk of crafting 4 throwables instead of 3 is worth it then go for it. My method for leveling throwables is to throw nets and just throw them at a wall and grab them mid air for hours on end and then you will eventually get your throwing skill up. A funner method is to take a stack of paper and throw them at enemies such as the order.

Sneak
Ninja time

Now one may think this skill is useless however the stealth roll is a very valuable navigation tool for the facility as you will see in the section Navigating the facility- Advanced. To level stealth I find the easiest method to of been crouch walking behind a rat or an exor as they are usually oblivious and have clear patrol paths. Or later on you can use a certain electric ranged weapon to stunlock bots outside of their pods to cause sneak attack EXP to rapidly gain.

Blunt Mele
Bonk

Blunt mele is easy to level as all you have to do is hit enemies with a blunt object. It is a passive skill to level and you wouldn't have to go far out of your way since combat is a part of the game and there is plenty of things to hit.

Sharp mele
Chop Chop

Same as above, you're going to get into combat just make sure you have the damage type you wish to level for this.

Accuracy
Pew Pew

Now the first thing you will have to level this with is the makeshift crossbow, which I do recommend for leveling both this skill and reloading to start. As every shot you get to reload and you can do a two for one special of learning the skill. If you wish to level accuracy faster you will need a different weapon as all the other ones do end up having a greater capacity than one so it isn't as hard to level as one would think given there is plenty of things to shoot in the facility.

Reloading
Every toy needs its batteries

Simple to level as stated above, just use the crossbow and get reloading and you'll have this skill up in no time.

Fortitude
I'm fu- sciencing invincible!

Now this is another passive skill to level as you will get hit and hurt, but to make it go faster find any damage source and heal while taking damage such as lava, electrical wires, etc.

Crafting
You're gonna do a lot of this

Crafting is a skill I see as passive as you will have to craft. Just make sure before you do any bulk crafts to eat a brain to get that extra exp and just to grind this out you can sit and craft at your bench provided you have excess materials.

Construction
Bob

Now construction you will have to go out of your way for it but the simplest way to do it is just to grab a screwdriver and disassemble everything in sight. There is a certain portal world later which is ripe for this which will be covered in the Portal Worlds- Spoilers section.

First Aid
Ouchie

Now first aid can be quickly power leveled by eating and injecting anti radiation items as those can be used at any time however if you do not wish to spare the resources you can idle level this just by fixing your bleeds, or using the healing syringes when you take damage. Its another passive skill to level as you will get hurt over time. Note: the healing briefcase does not provide exp for this.

Cooking
Tasty

Now cooking is a very useful skill to learn as it cuts down on cook times and raises the hunger and thirst levels your food gives you. Simplest way to level is just to pan fry everything you can get your hands on. Later on the best item for this will be the egg plant as they have a fast cook time and are a plant so they're easy to obtain a good amount of them.

Argiculture
Green thumb

Simple to level and has useful things to learn such as fertilizer. Just plant and grow and don't let your plants die and you'll be fine. Also grabbing any natural plants in the world such as the wheat in the first portal world gives you exp.

Fishing
Cast your lines

Fishing starts off slow but once you get more items to help from the progression of the skill you can quickly get your levels up. Just takes time and patience. Kick your feet up and catch some fish in your nearest liquids.
For a more in depth guide on fishing please see my following guide here: Dr. V's Ultimate Fishing Guide
Portal Worlds and Portal Things
Pretty

As of the time of writing there is currently seven portal worlds for you to explore. Now portal worlds or the anteverses are places you will discover through progression of the story and they can offer great resources to you being unique items, collectibles, and of course they reset every three in game days.

the cycle continues

This is good to keep track of so for certain resources you can always know when it is a good time to do another farming run through a portal as these will be your places for unlimited resources. Portal world spoilers will be in the section titled Portal World Spoilers where I will have both hand drawn maps and resource overviews of the portal worlds.

Pro tip: you can build in portal worlds and even with the portal resets you built items will not disappear, provided a resident of the portal world didn't break it.

Farming
Its like food, but free

Now farming will be a very important thing for you to learn as it ties directly into cooking and most farm foods can be eaten right off the vine so they are good for a quick snack to keep your scientist healthy and full. All you need to do is get a nice planter and keep it watered and then you're good to go.
Oh, right. The planter. The planter for plants, the planter chosen especially to plant plants, plant's planter. That planter?

Now one thing I would heavily recommend is to scrap at least a few of every plant (besides potatoes as you cannot do that) to get seeds as seeds do not decay. Listen to me and read this again SEEDS. DO. NOT. DECAY. it costs literally nothing besides storage space to have some spare seeds.
You will make seeds, do not argue its for your own good

Now another tip is when a plant is fully grown it does not consume water anymore provided you do not harvest it so another thing I do is I have a spare planter for every type of plant that is fully grown and I just don't touch them. They are for emergencies if somehow I lose every seed and every other plant.

One final thing

You can fertilize your plants to promote better and faster growth which in turn would consume less water your most basic of fertilizer is fecal matter but better ones can be crafted upon higher skill unlocks.
This fertilizer stinks

Overall farming is not a hard thing to do and as long as you follow these tips here you'll have plenty of food to grow.

How to get more soil

Now the hardest part of farming is to get more soil. Now the simplest way is to drink a lot of coffee and sh- soil yourself and pick up the excrement with a plastic scrap. Your other option to avoid a mess is to craft a makeshift toilet which will catch your excrement provided you use it when you are at at least a yellow level toilet need.

The soil producer
Your Journal
Now your journal is your essential place to learn everything from your current objectives, lore, enemy resistances, and viewing your maps. The best place for learning things, even some recipes and entities, is little computers like these scattered throughout the facility.

Hey kid, I'm a computer

There is also holograms of Dr. Manse which can fill in some other info, mainly lore.

He can't hurt you hes not actually here

Now the journal is a great resource and I highly recommend you check it for time to time, especially for checking your maps, which is described further under Navigating the Facility- Basic. Along with this it usually will help you find your next objective.
Combat
KILL

Now for the part that all of us will experience, combat. Combat in the facility is a multifaceted asset that can be played out in many ways depending on what weapons one chooses. One thing that is a very good tip to know is that in your journal, as explained in the previous section Your Journal has little things you can unlock under entities that will show the resistances and weaknesses of enemies you may encounter. Weapons in the game can deal multiple types of damage such as fire, electric, sharp, blunt, explosive, etc. It would behoove you to learn what an enemy hates or what it is resistant to as for example there are some enemies that are immune to electricity.

Reading is useful

Other than that make sure you are having your weapons and armor properly repaired as they will help keep you alive and do damage. One final note is shields. Shields can block almost every type of damage so they are an extremely useful item to have, even for a ranged build as no damage is better than some damage. Just make sure the shield has durability and you have stamina to use it.

Combat can be a fun and fulfilling experience
Navigating the facility- Basic
Now to the part that you will have to do, getting around the facility.

First and foremost get a map.
If you see one grab one

After grabbing the map you can go and find it within your journal by clicking on the circle of the sector you wish to view and then it will be on the right hand side, click it to open it.
Journal is useful once again

Now you will come to learn the facility as time goes on but as you start always refer to your maps as it is good to know where you are. There is also plenty of secrets and hidden areas to find that are not on the map to be sure to keep a keen eye out for them as the hidden areas often have very good loot. Another thing as mentioned in the Armor and Gear section is your hacker tool will open up more of the facility so be sure to take note of where locked doors are as you obtain and upgrade that tool.
Navigating the facility- Vehicles
At the time of writing, within the facility there is currently three vehicles you can obtain being the forklift, security cart and the SUV.
Free parking

Now the vehicles require an external item to get them working, the forklift being a power cell, the security cart being a hotwire kit, and the SUV needing its own hotwire kit, but once they are working you're off to the races to drive as much as you want. Personally I prefer the suv now as a solo player as it gives very large storage when I am farming materials. Currently however I use neither as you will see why within my Navigating the facility- Advance section.
Navigating the facility- Advanced
Now for the advanced navigation techniques that I have perfected. First off feast your eyes on this cube here.

Grav cube, my beloved

Now this bad boy here combined with the sneak roll that you get by leveling up sneak will give you flight. Simply just have Danger Zone playing over the facility speakers as you can sneak roll mid air and get really long distance jumps. This is your flight before the jetpack is released your bread and butter of a moving through the facility. You are the danger and brother, the facility is the zone.
Jumps like these are child's play after some practice

Furthermore once you unlock the jetpack you can fly as high as you want as the grav cube lets you float enough for the overheat to go away.

Teleportation and you: Why Vehicles are silly

Now as I stated in the previous section I didn't use the vehicles anymore and here's why.
Its traveling, but faster

In the later stage of the game you will unlock the recipe for the personal teleport. Just use this along with synced crafting benches to jump all around the whole facility, even to portal worlds as your placed items persist through portal resets, provided the residents of said portal world don't break it.
A worthy investment for quick travel
Facility Nights
Now the night time in the facility is supposed to be when you stop work and go back to residences to sleep however given the current state of the facility, sleep is not allowed we will continue to science, and to do that we will need batteries.

Batteries, and how to ignore the plugs turning off
How to ignore power regulations

How the battery is going to be one of your most important tools to make for night time activities as just because its dark out doesn't mean work can stop. Along with powering you base defenses both your bench and repair and salvage station need power so it would behoove you to make some batteries and have them in line with the plugs to store up power during the day.

Visitors at night

So at night there are (currently) two special visitors being your friendly coworker and a small floaty anomaly
Hes your friend
Source: Dude trust me

The coworker can be fed with 3 separate food items and he will give you some pens and sometimes a stapler, a real pal.

Calming music

So these can be captured using a test tube and turned into currently just fertilizer for your farm, so I would say they are a good resource to gather, but they do decay over time so make sure to use them, or trade them to the blacksmith for rebar.

Night Raids

At random times you have a chance for a night raid to happen. You will receive a message saying the air feels strange earlier in the day to know to prepare for one. The raids can be a few different types of enemies and they will target your objects and crafting bench, It is why in the previous sections I mentioned to upgrade your bench and there is plenty of defenses you can craft for your base, just make sure you have plenty of batteries to keep them powered.

The shockpad is an early game and cheap trap to build, plus you don't need to plug it in

Facility "Weather"
Currently there is three weather events in the facility being fog, radiation, and spores. Each event will last a total of 1 in game day. However for fog and radiation you can shut them off within the facility.

The Fog
Hes come to visit

Now the fog is at first really annoying but once you get a feel for the facility more its not as much of an issue, just hard to see. Plus side is you get to farm the rolly boys if you find them in the facility which you can find the guide to that in the section entitled Enemy Guide:Fog Creatures

To clear the fog follow the video below.
Also with a certain fish recipe you can trigger the fog event to happen if you wish to cause fog to hunt the rolly boys more.

Radiation
Its like green, but hurts

So the funnest event (not really) is radiation. If you're not a high RAD enjoyer like myself you will suffer. As the facility is now saturated with a 0.25 rad/s spicyness. Wear a hazard suit and eat your iodine and you'll be fine. For shutting it off earlier please see the video below.

You can have these rads, as a treat

Spores
Someone want some orange in their life?

So the spores can be bad for a scientist if you do not own a respirator or hazard suit to keep your face safe yet, otherwise it is not an issue. Plus side of it is that you will see an increased spawn of the mushroom peccanys so you can get some of their shrooms for cooking.
Soup Spoilers
So, you want to just get soup without the discovery. Well here, feast.

Woe, soup be upon ye

Now for the actual soups here is a break down of their ingredients and effects.

Portal World Spoilers
So this section will go over each portal world, with my hand drawn maps, and notable loot that can be found. All portal worlds do give buffs upon completion which I did make a guide on them here.
Portal World Buffs

Far Gardens
Fancy
Not much to see here

This is a easy through and through portal world just head right through, only two exor monks here but you can get some anteverse wheat, a Geiger counter, and the forklift figurine. For more information about the exors go to the section entitled Enemy Guide- Exors

Flathill
Foggy

Once again I am the best cartographer in the whole facility

Flathill has a main street and quite the few buildings to explore. Notable items to grab are piles of cash, the newspaper stands to make hazard crates, nachos in the arcade, staplers (which I would recommend my stapler guide here for that Staplers), ice cream, tomato seeds, and power cells. Along with some computers as breakables. You can also get a composer figurine in the top room of the syrup company which is on the server tower to your left after exiting the elevator. For the enemies here see the section entitled Enemy Guide: Fog Creatures

The Train
Choo Choo

Straight on through

The Train is a straight through and through anteverse. Just get to the back of the train and escape. You can find some good order drops here which see the section entitled Enemy Guide- The Order for this. You can also acquire the train model (see map), Axle grease, car battery charger, pocket watch, silverware, briefcases, fire extinguishers, and some decorative items.

Furniture Store
Spooky

Short sweet and to the point

Now here is your bread and butter for being able to disassemble everything and gather resources. If you don't press any of the buttons no zombies will spawn inside so you can take your time. Notable loot is the swords, the kite shield, umbrellas, pictures, plenty of furniture, RUGS, and potted plants.

RISE
Active Combat Zone
Target rich enviroment

Now this is your combat zone against the order. The enemies are marked on the map and for the breakdown of the order check out the section entitled Enemy Guide- The Order.
For loot here you can get staplers, the EGG plant, first aid items, liquid crystal monitors to break, and the order drops. There is also an order bobble head under the helipad as noted on the map.

Mycofields
Crispy

Too hot, markers melted

Now this map isnt exactly the most indepth but once you enter the mycofields its easy to see why given how cluttered the terrain is. Your main thing you want to look out for is anteverse gel, caprices from the little bugs, and the exor figurine. Along with the fact that you can obtain mushrooms from the mushroom dogs here. For more information about the exors go to the section entitled Enemy Guide- Exors
Gel and bugs, respectively

Now the easiest way to get the caprices from the bugs is to simply vacuum them up and their shells will come right off for you. The mycofields as a whole is a pain to navigate and is very hot, make sure to bring proper protective gear for the heat. I recommend making sure that you take your time exploring as the map is not as comprehensive as possible given the sheer extent of the area.

The Pool Rooms

Portal World Spoilers [Crush Depth]
The Night Realm
Its night but also day

Note: some of the paths can only be opened upon completing all of security sector

The night realm is a fun little realm that is sort of a maze at first but once you open all gates it is easy to navigate. There is a couple security tier crates and a few night essences laying about which makes it good to run through here on reset days once you have everything unlocked. Besides that the ink is the only source of the ink fish to get the black paint and this is also a place for a few snagvine seeds.

Voussoir
Guns, guns everywhere

Big open mountain for fighting

The hidden cave shown on the mountain pass map

Voussoir is now the combat zone of combat. Even better than rise. Make sure you have some gold weather armor and go have a blast as its open warfare here. Notable things are neutrino emitters and photon receptors (Guide for locations here: Dr. V's Guide to Photon Receptor and Neutrino Mapper farming
Besides that there is also a new miniboss here along with plenty of security level resources, and a new type of ammo and firearm.

The Mirror Realm
gm_flatgrass

Flat

It is just a wide open square where you can build to your hearts content, enjoy.

The Distant Shore
The RNG based Easter egg

As it stands the only "plus" of this realm is you can fish for bags of feces. Besides that its a pretty nothing area (besides getting the achievement for it, which if you want to know how to enter watch my video below)
Portal World Spoilers [Halloween]
Canaan
Time to go witch hunting

I once again come to draw for you

Canaan is a fun spooky portal world filled with many great items such as the Leyak bobble and has plenty of lore surrounding it that you can find. Have fun.
Very important tips to not ruin your world- spoilers
TIP ONE: DO NOT LET THE LETTUCE DIE

You will find this lettuce in the containment labs.

Save him

As soon as you harvest it get it scrapped and plant the seed. Make sure it grows and do not let it die. After a few cycles of growing you should have a good seed bank and plenty of lettuce to grow. Remember this is your only one so make sure to always have spare seeds.

There is now more than one lettuce and it respawns now, thanks crush depth.

TIP TWO: THE VOID WILL TAKE EVERYTHING

So around the facility, especially near trams, walls, and manufacturing there is voids. Some certain things love flying off into the voids so be careful around them, especially when the Symphonisers die they love clipping into walls to drop their items out there. But you can also lose important items such as the antique shotgun, never to return.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Enemy Guide: Exors
For the guide to exors please check out my guide on them here

Exors and their drops
Enemy Guide: Security Bots
Now the security bots are something you will encounter and have to kill in the facility as they are made of CPUs and resources (and soda). There are, as of the time of writing, two of them.

Standard Security ♥♥♥
Slow but can stun you

Now this is a slower ♥♥♥ but has a wide reach and can stun you with its electric prod. Take him out quickly and earn yourself a standard CPU which is being held in my hand in the picture. Butchering him will get you tech scrap, glass, coils, and metal scrap, along with four types of soda.

Containment ♥♥♥
Say goodbye to your intact legs

Now this one is much faster and likes to break your legs to put you inside a holding cell. However their resource drop is much greater for the raw materials, same as the normal ♥♥♥, however they drop a jail broken CPU and Kizz Cola. Which the jail broken CPU is used for some higher end crafting.

Jailbroken CPU and Kizz

Security/Explosive ♥♥♥
Big Boom

These guys are more of a pain as they have multiple types of ranged attacks but once you learn how to bully them they become a non issue like the other bots.
Dead

They drop coils, reinforced CPU, tech scrap, transformer bushing, ♥♥♥♥ winding
rebar, frag grenade

Tips on ♥♥♥ fighting

Any electric damage such as shock pads, tesla coils, lightning spear, etc is your friend here. Slow and steady wins these fights and work to avoid their attacks. (Or just build a bunch of shock pads and tesla coils and zap em).
For the security bots I have two methods to fight them as seen in the videos shown below.
Enemy Guide: The Order
For the order please visit my guide here: The Order and Their Drops. This guide explains every current order enemy and their loot drops.
Enemy Guide: Fog Creatures
For the fog you have two enemies to be on the lookout for being the composers and the symphonists.
Composer left, Symphonist right

Now the composer is currently unkillable, make sure to avoid them, but these little rolly boys can be killed. They are immune to electricity but have drops that are important for opening chests within the facility. For farming them see my two guides below.

Flathill spawns for rolly boys
Facility Spawns for Rolly Boys
The Leyak- spoilers
More like Abiotic Freaktor

Now the only reason I am giving this single entity its own page is because of the sheer amount of complaints I see about it. With the recent addition of giving it subtitles any scientist who can have some basic situational awareness can combat this wiggly boi easily. Just after unlocking either of the the xray gun or the xray tower simply upon noticing the Leyak, blast em with your xray. Or if you do not have the xray, stare at it until it disappears. Now the staring doesn't work if it is in its agitated state as in that point you must either xray it or run. Just simply listen for its awkward mumbling or look for its subtitles and this will be a non issue.

Heavy Breathing

Now with the Halloween update you are allowed to capture him once and for all. You can unlock the recipe in the hydro plant.

LOOK AT HER AND LAUGH
Chests within the Facility -Spoilers

Let me in, LET ME INNNNNNNNNN

Now we have three types of chests currently in the facility but only the Cacophonous (fog) and Ornate (order) chests can be opened using the Porcelain and Ornate keys respectively.
Open up the chests of your dreams

The Gate crate as of time of writing does not have a way to open it and will become openable in a future update as the facility expands.

Farming the Keys: a painful process

For key farming I have a few guides written on the subject here.

Porcelain Keys

Flathill rolly boy locations

Fog event rolly boy locations

Ornate Keys

Order Key farming guide

Chest Locations

Offices
For the current locations of chests please refer to my annotated maps here.

Offices level 1: 1 Gate, 1 Fog
Offices Level 2: 1 Fog
Offices Level 3: 2 Gate, 1 Fog

Manufacturing West
3 Order, 1 Gate

Containment Labs
1 Order, 1 Gate, 2 Fog

Note: Maps will be updated with pictures when I move the chests back as I took them all as of the time of writing and they do not respawn.
The Blacksmith and his trades- spoilers
Now later in the game, specifically manufacturing, you will meet a friendly fella in the forge called the blacksmith.

Hes right here in this blue circle

He offers trades for items which I have listed here.
CPU for Anvil
Military Electronics for Steel wire
Anteverse Wheat for Hydrochloric acid

Captured Anomaly for rebar
Order helmet for welding Mask
Captain's beret for blacksmith gloves

Reinforced hose for lens
axle grease for diode
solder for fiberoptic cable

Air Compressor for anti heat suit
metal scrap for cement bags
super tomato for hi vis vest

Warren and his trades
Now that Warren has decided to open a shop we can obtain the following items.
Nyxshade seed -> GATE security crate card
Night Essence -> Magnetic Alloy
Memory Brick -> Light Weapon Repair kit

Rootbear -> Peas
Antefish Fillet -> Stapler
Conclusion
So this should get you started in the facility along with letting you figure out some of the currently later things. I will work to keep this guide as updated as possible when new updates drop but understand that it will take me time as I prefer to do a lot of work and research on my own and enjoy what the facility has to offer before putting all this stuff into the many guide I write. I am the best and brightest doctor after all and you cant rush perfection, or in my case making me more perfect because I'm already perfect.

Thanks for reading and have a great time in the facility, there's no directors to stop us anymore.

there is, i got a modloader on nexusmods and there's a script that lets you disable the leyak. i haven't turned it off yet but i have the option now when i get sick of him.

is there ever a way to get rid of the leyak
𝓥  [pembuat] 28 Agu 2024 @ 6:59am
so its per charater. Essentially youd have to find someone whos charather has everything. Have them move their charater to your world using save editing then have them sit down in your chair sync, then you sync after and youll have everything. Alternatively you go and move your charater to their save them move it back to yours after syncing
Koh 27 Agu 2024 @ 4:15pm
How would the brain sync work? Because it's not our character that has these journals but the server right? So wouldn't I need someone who has gotten it in my world save?
