Introduction (+Spoiler Warning)
So you're an achievement hunter eh? You wanna give Alice some love eh? It's alright, i'm here to help. This achievement can be hard to get as you have to be as cruel as possible without being too cruel to Alice herself. You need to get your Lumen crystal in time to deal with the Ixonites and get on Banion's good side, be cruel enough by the grandball to give Alice a gift and be ruthless in the naval battle. There are two ways to do the last one though with or without magic and i will make another section within this guide for handling the navel battle without magic.

So choose what you want to do in the navel battle first, using magic or relying on your soldiers, then choose which version of the instructions you want to read :)

Your agents report a buildup of military strength - particularly warships - in Shanjia, the major power across the ocean to the west. If they send out conquering fleets, Nova might be in danger.
However, it takes time to assemble worthy vessels, and you have advance warning. You could make your own preparations to defend your coast.
The downside is, they won't come cheap.

(Studied Foreign Affairs in the afternoon.)
Danger on the high seas!
You and your two fellow Lumens join hands to focus your powers. Your magical training has paid off by allowing you to stage this attempt at a safe distance from the invading vessels of war. Far in the distance, you hear the roar of the ocean you have charmed as it buckles beneath the incoming ships, opening up a maw of void into which they tumble helplessly. Then, as they fall, the water rushes back in around them, washing over decks and pummelling hulls. Even from so far away, you can see the disturbance you have made rippling through the water. Some of the Shanjians may survive, but their threat as an invasion has ended.

Go Hunting

After the navel battle it really doesn't matter what you study at this point... This is just what i studied during my playthrough but you could go nuts and study whatever you want. But i suggest still choosing the activites after the studying is over in order to gain more cruelty.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU'RE A QUEEN AND YOU MARRIED YOUR MAID!

As proof of getting Alice you should see this in the Epilouge:

Elodie indulged in a number of relationships throughout her reign, but her most long-lasting was with her maidservant, Alice. The former baker's daughter was greatly envied for the fine wardrobe and glittering jewels gifted her by her royal mistress. Especially the diamonds set into the silver collar that she was obliged to wear at all times.

And thus you get the Unexpected Pairing achievement :D

Week 35

(Studied Foreign Affairs in the morning.)
(Studied Foreign Affairs in the afternoon.)

Danger on the high seas! Ships close in on each other, angling into range. You take your position with a spyglass, watching the enemy movements closely and shouting out any necessary changes in plan. The Shanjians outnumber you slightly, but it could all come down to strategy. Your skill in long-range magic makes you as effective as a cannon (and more maneuverable), but there is still only one of you. The eventual outcome... is a hard-fought victory. You have repelled the invasion fleet, driving the survivors back across the sea. You and your sailors are heroes, and Nova is safe once more.

Go Hunting

(After the battle you can pretty much study whatever you want, but i still suggest making the choices i did in my playthrough of the game because you still need to be cruel to get Alice. Going hunting also helps)

For anyone wondering about the missing Week 26, follow kazerniel's advice below:

"I went the non-magic route with some minor changes late-game, and managed to get the 'Unexpected Pairing' achievement.

Week 16: Attend Service;
Week 26: Logistics x2 + Hunting;
Week 33-34: because of the Anger penalty, instead of Decoration I studied War to not waste study time, then when mood changed to Cheerful, studied Decoration.

I also did different things in late game free time (eg. didn't go Hunting when it said 'no effect'), but those probably don't matter much."

i wanna know if it is working, sounds a little troubles in the reviews...

Also this results in things to mess up in week 37, not getting the choice to sacrifice Charlotte.

I'm not sure if it's a big problem but you seem to jump from week 25 to week 27, skipping week 26. Maybe it's just me that noticed this when playing through your walkthrough?

I actually started a new file following the guide and i was taking the suggestions left in the comment :) i'm just playing around to see what works to repair the guide.

That's alright, thank you for responding. Maybe you could copy the text of the guide as is and splice in @Landale's suggestions?
The Baekin' Company  [author] Jan 3, 2015 @ 2:50pm
Hey everyone, sorry i haven't edited the guide. My internet has been shakey and/or down the past few days and the save i used to create this guide was long overwritten. I'll have to redo it.
