Bestial Communion Compendium

An up-to-date collection of all enemy thoughts translated using Bestial Communion and the Cipher.

Foreword

This guide is a Work In Progress

This guide will contain spoilers

The idea is that in it's final form this guide will be told from the in-universe perspective of a scholar descending into the Great Well for the sake of knowledge.

Currently we have manually translated every enemy thought using Bestial Communion, we did not use the wiki (except for the lupin skeleton due to a bug)

Under most of the enemy thoughts there are tentative opinions from the protagonist. These are all not final and are subject to change.

Let us know if we've missed anything.

Hollow Basin

Snail

"Curious drippy bone. You

so fast you must go"

These simple beings seem quite curious about us, On another note I hope the rest of the Great Well's inhabitants are as peaceful as these little fellows.

Milk Snail

"Small bouncy boney one. You
should slow and soak like we do"

Well the snails can grow quite large indeed, still not any real danger however.

Shulker

"Corpse good food food
Comes from above dribbles
down down down"

simple corpse feeders, not much else to learn.

The Fetid Mire

Rat

"Shush shush dont step on me
mmmm cheese"

A simple rat, unchanged from their appearance in the surface world.
I suppose it was foolish to hope there weren't any rats down here.

Slime

"Solid terrifying
Creature leave alone."

The slime's seem to be afraid of anything that is solid in nature.

Slime Skeleton

"Give us flesh to add bones to
A D D"

Well it seems skeletons are quite the dangerous sort, they are actively and consciously hostile towards us.

Devil Slime

"Solid bodied creature how
speak. Absorb into and give
us."

Very dangerous variant of the Slime, twice the size and possesses the ability to fire poison projectiles.

Yosei Forest

Kodama

"Sweet one you smell so
sweet bun bun."

Cute little things, maybe I could take one back with me as a pet...

Yakul

"This forest is sacred.
Do not trespass here.
I will defend it as a part of it."

I'm afraid I must trespass on their land to complete my quest for knowledge, I will do what I must and so will they.

Venus

"Feel the earth become the dirt.
Connected with all."

I may have gotten a little bit too close this time... ouch.

Neptune

"Feel the water.
Become a wave in an ocean.
We all part the waters with our
M O V E M E N T ."

Strange magics must give the plants animation, perhaps I will learn their secrets one day.

Tillandsia

"Feel the air.
Become the wind.
and the world is home."

How these creatures fly without even using anti-gravitational spells is beyond me, there are mystery's here I doubt I will ever uncover the truth of. Nature truly is wonderful.

Regardless of it's monstrous size I feel great pity for this creature.

Poltergeist

This tormented soul is trapped here in the Great Well without a mind to call their own, how unfortunate.

Malformed

Hideous abomination, it terrifies me that these things can think.

I ran from this thing and I did not look back! I am lucky to be alive now I think.

Unfortunately I was unable to hear this ones throughts myself and I had to search the forbidden archives for the translation. Perhaps my magical abilities need further refinement, Moon knows I have all the time I could want know that I'm trapped down here in the Great Well.

Also that scratch will take time to heal.

Obsidian Skeleton

Unlike it's fellow Skeletons, this Obsidian one contains no higher thoughts. Though he is much more powerful and dangerous than the others.

Infested Corpse

Pitiful, diseased, pile of flesh. No thoughts whatsoever.

Cerritulus Lunam

Whatever this is... or was, is gone now. No higher thoughts.

Giant Skeleton

What in the name of Lyria itself would ever allow a skeleton to grow this big and terrifying, It can't think and I don't want it to.

Maledictus

Thoughtless lizard-like warriors, I am in grave danger here. I will try to sneak past these ones if I can.

Vesta

These fungal fellows may not have much in the way of thoughts but they sure do smell good, probably best not to try and eat one... who knows what may happen to me if I do.

Gloom Wood

How in the world do these creatures even exist! Needless to say, there are no thoughts to be found here.

Worth noting the translations are *also* useful for one more thing: Translating the text during the final boss fight.
I didn't get enough screenshots for everything, but the skulls with chains are marked as:
"Curse of an unkillable serpent"
"Curse of mirrored pain"
and some prior ones

Its unfortunate that we can't understand the Cerritulus Lunam, those fellows are truly fascinating and bizarre.
