Why though? They take space in my inventory. Why not just leave them at the boat until I need them later? This is really bad advice, especially for new players.

Regarding resource management, I believe that having one person staffing a Warehouse helps move things around. Not 100% sure, though.
@MrWeirdMan You catch a dog by building a trap near a wolf den. You need to get up to Tier 2 in the tech tree to access them. And yes, wolves are very aggressive.
@Zdrunkguy Wood Beams are made at the Carpenter add-on to the Workshop Hut. You'll need to make certain Iron tools to make them. You also make Wood Beams out of Hardwood (Birch), not regular Wood.
As for healling, you can sleep or use garlic soup. You can heal fastest by laying down at a healing hut with a healer tending to you.
@K4sDY I've never built them myself, but Rune Stones supposedly give a village-wide buff once you complete a ritual
