Solo-reko Playthrough Notes (NG+, Lunatic, no Loner Grimoire)
By ⛏
This guide contains notes about my new game +, lunatic playthrough in which I only use Sumireko in combat, without using the loner grimoire. It may prove useful if you are struggling on a boss, or want to do a similar challenge run. Take everything you read here with a grain of salt: I'm no expert.

I am not an expert and there will be mistakes in this documentation. Everything that isn’t clearly factual or taken from the game itself (e.g. the screenshots) is just a suggestion on my part. These suggestions (stats, gear, and affinities for Sumireko, her moveset, etc.) are not perfect and are likely based on one successful attempt of a boss. Please take most of what you read here with a grain of salt.

I'm also assuming you're familiar with the game and its dungeons. I will be focused more on the boss fights than on how to get to them. I go into more detail on getting to some of the fights in my other guide if you want more information: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3262652378
Also, since this is essentially a walkthrough of the entire game, there will be SPOILERS. It is a New Game + run, after all ;)
Rules
  • New Game + (so Sumireko can learn unique sleeper skills)
  • Lunatic Difficulty (not counting Tokiko since the first anomaly is in the underworld cave to the Palace of the Earth Spirits)
  • No Loner grimoire
  • Ending C
  • Can only use Sumireko in combat
    • In the event a companion is forced to be used in combat, they can only defend.
  • No yukkuri hat
    • This item doesn’t break the game by any means, but I feel like it would devalue my strategies if I used it. Also, if someone wanted to replicate what they’ve seen here, I’d hate to suggest getting this item given how rare it is.
      • This run was done before the 1.3 update; it's much easier to get the hat with the new Wild Card grimoire.
The Plan
Since Sumireko will be the only member in combat, she will be taking all the damage, status effects, and single target unique skills. Sumireko only has one action per turn and is thus at a disadvantage against multiple enemies and bosses with multiple actions per turn. Therefore, overleveling all the enemies would be our most reasonable tactic. To reduce reliance on overleveling and to add more spice to the gameplay, this run is done on New Game +.

For the build, we will do a split of VIT and MAG, while also leveling AGI to the point where we can outspeed everything in an area. For damage, we’ll use guns or the appropriate spells, and for healing, we’ll rely on items.
Tutorial
Get the liberator ASAP and blast everything until you’re LV 4: +6 VIT and +3 INT.

Marisa only defends.
  • Keep Marisa alive: if anyone dies it’s game over.
For Tokiko, spam GUN. Unless she focuses Sumireko, you should be able to win without needing to heal.

Sumireko’s HP and GUN damage seem to increase with Sumireko’s level (I haven’t leveled LUK).
Underworld Caves
Enable Lunatic at the anomaly.

You’ll probably want to put points into AGI: +6 should be good for at least the Palace.

Agility also affects evasion/hit rate: good against sleepers that buff/debuff evasion.

Grab the Oni bone from the Southern cave for better auto-attacks.
Palace of the Earth Spirits
Recruit Satori as a pocket healer

Try to have every element just in case a yukkuri shows up (good early xp and money)
  • The earliest I’ve encountered one was when Sumireko was LV 13, in Former Hell, and before fighting Utsuho.
Use GUN for everything but Orin

Make use of hijack to avoid combat when needed

Buy evasion + at the terminal

Try to get 14 total AGI, the rest of your levels should go into VIT/INT

Former Hell
Remove himedi from all your pocket healers. If you use the auto-heal button, they prioritize himedi instead of medi and waste a ton of MP.

Sleepers hit hard in here: stay near the entrance until you're higher level.

Chiyari has good affinities for this area.

Utsuho knows azani.
  • Utsuho’s affinities + red sun is free healing but makes you vulnerable to lots of enemies. I’d only recommend this if you’re farming the palace due to weaker enemies and Orin healing you with agni.
    • Vengeful spirits only know agni, so you can try this affinity in Former Hell when you’re higher level.
Parsee knows bala-para and is a good pocket healer. Seeing as how bosses get two turns and we only get one, it’s safe to say they can play the buff game better than us. It still is good to have for bosses that can’t do anything against debuffs.

Conserve your MP when heading to the boss. I recommend a combination of light balls (or just running) and a burner phone.

Utsuho Boss Fight

Use Utsuho’s affinities, minimize her evasion, maximize yours. She can stall with red sun and confuse you with elephant kick, but even when she’s at +3 attack, it won’t hit too hard. GUN until you win. I was LV 15 when I fought her and had no trouble.

After beating Utsuho, don’t have her fly you back immediately. Go to Orin in the previous room and she’ll give you a rusty chestplate. Then you can have Utsuho fly you back.
Dreamer's Monolith 1 + Post-Utsuho Bosses
Book it to the dreamer’s monolith.

For affinities, you can either use Utsuho’s, Cirno’s, or Letty’s
  • Mugetsu and Gengetsu have mind attacks, which Utsuho’s affinities are weak to. However, Cirno and Letty are weak to fire, so you can spam red sun to farm and heal yourself.
  • Cirno’s affinities have good resists in general.
  • Letty’s affinites lack the mind resist Cirno’s has, but the ice absorb can give you free heals.

Turn Cirno and Letty into items for money.
  • Fast hijack relies on having SP from SP defend, which isn’t as useful when you only have one party member. Buy these from the terminal only if you want to, I find myself just doing the hijack for everything.

Farm enough yen for the terminal upgrades and healing items.
  • We need all the help with buffs we can get.
  • Life shards heal too little. Either buy life gems (100 hp, 1k yen from H.E.L.P.) or use life chunks (250 hp, from Cirno).

The rusty rocket launcher is good to have for later dungeons (SDM and Eientei), but it starts off mediocre when there’s usually only two enemies per encounter.
  • The accuracy is pretty low and the damage isn’t as good as you’d think, but it gets the job done in the meantime.
    • Does about 53 damage to enemies in the monolith at LV 17.
Stop by the Human Village and give Keine a student uniform for +3 INT.

Parsee Boss Fight

Parsee’s affinities for Sumireko will work the best, but I stuck with Cirno’s.

Same plan as Utsuho, but use azani instead of GUN.

She’ll buff defense, which is something you can’t do much about other than use the attack + command.
  • You could get hipuri-para from Mugetsu, but that takes too much MP.
Be sure to get the +3 strength from Yuugi’s quest (give Parsee a burner Phone)

Koishi Boss Fight

Use Parsee’s or Cirno’s affinities. Buff defense early with defense +, use leg stab.

Keep her evasion low, heal with items as needed.
Myouren Temple
I’m level 20 at this point since I couldn’t get a Miko to spawn for a long time.

Kogasa and Seiga are good pocket healers. Kogasa also has hideluo and converts into 2x healing gems.

Tojiko has puri-atma.

Cult of Personality from Miko is a great way to buff yourself.
  • It doesn’t work with overbuff

Toyosatomimi no Miko Boss Fight

Use Miko’s affinities and auto the fight.
Scarlet Devil Mansion
Convert Flandre to an item for the crystal sword

Meiling Boss Fight

Buff defense, use acala + acala amp

Alternate turns between attacking and healing items.

Any affinity works fine, Yuugi’s is the best.

Flandre Boss Fight

Requires a Remilia sleeper in the party to start. Use the first turn to put her back into the stock (have her defend).

Flandre’s or Miko’s affinities.

Buff/debuff evasion: you don’t want to get hit by the liver punch + under pressure combo.

Try to clear paralysis if you get hit with it.

Use the silver crossbow and GUN.

Patchouli Boss Fight
It's her and 2x Koakumas

Use Cult of Personality at the start of the fight for +3 to all stats.
  • Bring dai-atma (also from Miko) to clear buffs.
Use Patchouli’s or Miko’s affinities and spam GUN.

Target the Koakumas first, otherwise they’ll heal Patchouli after buffing.

Remilia Boss Fight

Make the steak with garlic to give her -1 to all stats.

Use Tojiko’s affinities. You’ll have to tank the force weakness, but it’s worth not getting paralyzed by bloodsucking universe.

Remi is quite fast (24 AGI) and will probably outspeed you. If not, she has quick thrust to guarantee that she will. I fought her at LV 23 with 22 AGI, and we often swapped between going first. I’m assuming another level and more AGI would let you move first consistently.

Cult + GUN to win.

After defeating Remi, the debuff commands become available from terminals.
Dreamer's Monolith 2
Reimu Boss Fight

Reminder to have healing items.

Tojiko’s or Meiling’s affinities.

Debuff her attack and defense before attacking to conserve MP. Use dai-atma to remove her even flow evasion buffs. Don’t bother buffing yourself since she’ll remove them.
Eientei
Kotohime’s affinities are great against everyone except Mokou. Mokou sleepers don’t show up on the second floor, which makes it a good place to farm.

I hit LV 30 here and put most of my points into INT.

Kaguya Boss Fight

Kotohime’s affinities, same strategy as Reimu: debuff attack and defense, use dai-atma to clear her buffs, then attack. You may want dai-para since she can debuff evasion as well.

Eirin and Udonge Boss Fight

Kaguya has yomiusa, Keine has acalausa.
  • Kaguya + Mokou, Mokou + Remilia, or Kurumi + Tewi make Keine
Despite the ice weakness, Kotohime's affinities work really well in this fight. If you find you're getting hit with ice too much, then Cirno's affinities will probably get the job done.

Use Cult of Personality twice and keep their buffs in check. The attacks that you don’t null have a good chance of missing.

Udonge has two actions per turn and can mimic Eirin's unique skill, so focus her down first.

Use yomiusa on Udonge and use acalausa on Eirin.
Forest of Magic
The encounters here are rough, even at LV 30. Two turns of neutral damage are usually enough to kill me. It may be worthwhile to keep grinding at Eientei before coming here. Alternatively, you can rush the boss and get out of here ASAP.
  • If you do take encounters, I’d recommend starting them with Cult of Personality.
Ellen’s affinities for Sumireko are probably your best bet. Even with these affinities, you’ll still get neutral hit for a ton of damage.

Marisa’s House

First fight is 3x Koakumas with the same stats as the ones with Patchouli. The second fight is against Louise.

Use Cult of Personality on the Koakumas and keep their buffs in check with dai-atma. Try to leave one alive to farm SP off of.

Cult on Louise and lower her attack when you can.
  • She’ll hit hard, especially with the force weakness. Be sure to have plenty of healing items.
Take the books back to the SDM for +3 MAG

Alice Boss Fight

Use Tojiko’s affinities.

Alice will stunlock you with master of puppets and fully buff her attack and defense while you attack yourself.
  • Load Sumireko up with only pierce and electric attacks, but keep Cult of Personality.
    • If you’re using it, be sure to replace the rocket launcher with a pierce-damaging gun.
  • Try to get to +3 with Cult, then auto the fight.
    • You will need to stop autoing to heal with items occasionally.
  • The cleanse passive from Cirno should help you recover from MoP more quickly.
  • Alice has a ton of MP, so I was able to win before she ran out.
Muenzuka
Light balls are your best friend. Otherwise, fusing a Lily Black and using her affinities can work, but you’ll still be taking tons of damage from encounters.

Grab the assault rifle from the top-left chest and the bullet proof vest from the bottom-left chest.

Save all the cats for the cat ears.

You don't have to fight Nazrin, but I figured I might as well.

Nazrin Boss Fight

Cult and azani her down quickly. Confusion mist and vision stab are annoying to deal with.

After getting the inner tube, pick up the halt command and hijack attack from a terminal.
Inner Tube Gaming
You can go out of your way and beat Kutaka early because it’s funny.

If you thought the encounters in the previous two areas were bad, then don’t go into Hell.

Kutaka Boss Fight

Use Kurumi’s affinities. Use commands to minimize her attack and evasion and buff your attack and evasion. Use the assault rifle and spam GUN until you win. Heal earlier than you think you need to since she will outspeed you.

I know pretty much every boss mentions Sumireko’s ability to control sleepers, even though they would have no way of knowing that seeing as how they lost to Solo-reko, but since I’m already going off track, I figured I’d joke about it once:
Ruined Western Mansion
Back on track here: Yuyuko is a good pocket healer and her affinities are good for this area.
  • Lyrica is the only sleeper that can hit her weakness.
  • Mortality shield might be good on Sumireko. However, the 30 MP cost is quite high, especially if the enemy doesn’t kill you when you cast it.
I’m LV 38 with 50 VIT and INT, and I’m still getting destroyed by these encounters for not a lot of xp. If you need xp, I think the 2nd floor Eientei grind with Kotohime’s affinities is still the best: you get half the xp of the mansion, but you’re under little threat of dying.

Lunasa Boss Fight

Lily Black's or Alice's affinities. She buffs her attack, lowers your defense, and can clear your buffs. Keep all buffs around neutral and use ajirausa.
Genbu Ravine + Willows Cave + Nameless Hill
Yuyuko’s affinities for this area.
  • Watch out for Takane since she can use fire.
Medicine Boss Fight

Go into this fight poisoned to avoid other ailments. Minimize her attack, use agniusa, and heal when needed.
  • If you’re struggling with this fight, you can recruit Kutaka in Hell for agnisol + agni amp.

Youkai Mountain Route
Same drill as Genbu, still using Yuyuko’s affinities. Be careful of encounters with Mike and Takane.
  • Mike knows dai-atma, which will wipe your Cult buffs.
  • Takane knows agniusa.
In the upper cave system, recruit Sanae as a pocket healer.

The Great Youkai Forest
Takane + Biten = Chimata (LV 43), who has HP spring.

Aya Boss Fight

Use Nazrin’s affinities.

Minimize her attack, use azaniusa + azani amp for paralyze, or just use head shot. Have dai-atma and dai-para in case she buffs or debuffs too much.

Rainbow Dragon Cave
The gas mask prevents Sumireko from taking damage on the blue tiles.

They aren’t necessary, but it is good to grab the dragon gems.

Misumaru has MP spring.

Megumu has agniusa, most of the other sleepers have yomi skills.

The encounters here are more manageable (finally). You’ll still die often, and I still think Eientei is better for xp, but you have a better chance of winning encounters here than any other recent place.
Momoyo Boss Fight

Use Cult to get to +3, spam acalausa and heal as needed. You don’t need to clear her attack buffs.

Sanae and Kanako Boss Fight

Use Mystia’s affinities.

Take out Sanae first. Start the fight with Cult and azaniusa Sanae. You can use azani amp to fish for paralyze, but Sanae falls pretty fast if you use your remaining SP on defend -. Once Sanae is down, Kanako can no longer have her debuffs removed. Minimize her attack and whittle her down with acalausa.

The defense drops from debilitating aura will be annoying, but you should be fine without clearing it if Kanako’s attack is low.

If you’ve been taking too many beatings from the encounters up until this point, I have a plan for this fight that may make you feel better:

Respec Sumireko: dump all points into MAG and put the rest into AGI (I was LV 46 at this time). Get Marisa’s unique skill “All Guns Blazing,” MP spring (from Misumaru), dai-atma, dai-para (or have 1 stone of each), and focus.
  • Hatate + Hina/Nemuno/Sekibanki = Toyohime, who has focus

Walk into the fight with full SP and use focus + all guns blazing to one-shot Kanako. As long as she doesn’t use her unique skill, she’ll take over 2k damage.

Clear your defense debuffs. Use the blue dragon gem to restore your MP while you build up more SP for Sanae. The only thing Sanae can hit you with is her basic attack, which you should be able to live a few hits of, even if she is at max attack.
Once you are near max SP, use dai-atma, then focus + all guns blazing.
  • Kanako takes around 2,283 damage at +1 defense, and around 2,586 damage at neutral buffs. Seeing as how she only has 1,200 HP, 99 MAG may be overkill. However, I like big damage numbers.
  • Sanae has 1,000 HP and an elec weakness, so she’ll take even more damage.
This strat probably works for a lot of the bosses.

The better fusion 1, more SP, and MP refresh upgrades are available from terminals after this fight.
Dream World Route
In general, Toyohime’s affinities are decent for dungeon crawling. I prefer to have affinities with better coverage if I'm farming for xp, but if you're just passing through and don't want to change affinities, Toyohime's are serviceable.

Grab the wizard’s gloves from a chest near the anomaly.

Reimu’s affinities are good for the upcoming areas

Sea of Tranquility
Ringo converts to 5x life chunks, Seiran converts to a first aid kit.

Sea of Serenity
Rabbit Soldiers Encounter

Use cult + hiyoumiusa

Hiyomiusa is a good skill to have. Most encounters have a mind weakness, meaning that as long as you have MP, you can cult + hiyomiusa to farm.

If you reach LV 49 and have the better fusion 1 upgrade, you can fuse Okina for the bullet hell skill with Reisen + Hisami. This is useful for the 2x Clownpiece 1x Sagume encounters. Okina’s yomisol is also good for the upcoming boss, but so is bullet hell. You could alternatively just use knife throw from Reimu.
  • At 8 STR, bullet hell isn’t enough to one-shot the encounter, so you may as well just use knife throw.
  • Seiran + Doremy = Hisami. Or you can get her from Hell.
  • Reisen is from the Moon Palace.

Throw on the witch hat (from Marisa item convert) and the wizard gloves (from a chest close to the start of the dream world) and blast through this area.

Moon Palace
There’s a memory ball in this chest on the first floor.

The encounters here are even easier than the ones in the seas. The 2nd floor tends to have more enemies per encounter.
  • Hiyomiusa spam to win.
  • This is a great place to grind xp.
Watatsuki Sisters Boss Fight

Reimu’s affinities protect you from everything but critical slash and Yorihime’s azaniusa. I’d recommend it over Toyohime’s affinities because the accuracy drop from leg stab is annoying.

Use cult and spam knife throw/bullet hell. Have dai-atma and dai-para handy since they can debuff your defense and buff their evasion.
Higan Route
If you didn’t already beat Kutaka, then use Kurumi’s affinities, lower her attack, and shoot her with the lunatic gun from Udonge’s sidequest.

Hell
Eika is a good pocket healer

There are hell warden gloves in a chest near the top right of the map. These strengthen fire spells.

Animal Realm
Yuuma Boss Fight

Flandre’s affinities. Buff up with cult and use azainusa.

Primate Spirit Garden
Keiki is a good pocket healer and knows ajirasol and acalasol.

I can never side against Mayumi since she healed me before a boss fight. I’d also argue that Yachie and Saki are harder due to Yachie spamming ailments and Saki’s unique skill minimizing defense.
Yachie and Saki Boss Fight

Use Mizuchi’s affinities for Sumireko
  • Misumaru + Biten = Mizuchi
If you can’t fuse her, then Yachie’s affinities will work fine.

Yachie loves spamming ailments, so be sure to have cleanse on Sumireko. I’m unsure if I got lucky, but it seems like as long as you keep her attack buffs down, Saki won’t go for atrocity exhibition. Bring dai-para just in case.

I prefer to target Saki first since atrocity exhibition hurts, but Yachie has less HP and two actions per turn instead of Saki’s one action per turn. Either way, Cult at the start, hit a weakness with azaniusa on Yachie or head shot/yomiusa on Saki.

If you have SP to spare, use the attack – command, otherwise use dai-atma to prevent their attack buffs from getting too high.

Bullet Hell with witch hat + wizard gloves can work but is quite taxing on MP.

If you need more damage, here are some heavy damage skills:

Zanmu has guard pierce: a heavy pierce attack with -1 defense on target.

Yomisol:
  • Momiji + Sagume = Satono (LV 52)
Azanisol:
  • Misumaru + Reisen or Sagume + Reisen = Teireida
  • Teireida + Reisen = Yuuka (LV 55)
Yachie is weak to elec and has 1,750 HP, so all guns blazing will destroy her. Couple this with Junko’s affinities and Saki won’t be able to touch you.
Dreamer’s Monolith Floors 1-6
Nothing much to add here. Have light balls, magic fabrics, and a memory ball just in case your pocket healers run out of MP.

Best girl Yukari unlocks flight on the 6th floor. The pierce command and better fusion 2 upgrade are now available from terminals.
Tenshi Boss Fight

Mizuchi’s affinities will work well for this fight. Debuff her attack (which she can buff), spam acalasol + acala amp, and have dai-atma for her defense buffs.

She has three actions per turn, so keeping up with everything may require more levels or a bit of luck. You're probably supposed to fight her after you've gone through the Shining Needle Castle, which is a decent place to level, so don't feel the need to do this early.
Youkai Tanuki Forest
The combat gloves from Mamizou’s shop may be worth it for boss fights, but I’d rather stick with the wizard gloves for normal encounters. Nothing else in her shop really sticks out as being worth it.
Garden of the Sun
Eternity Larva Sidequest
Once you’re done scattering scales in the first area, you’ll be attacked by 2x Eternity Larva and 2x Wriggle.

Cult and use agnisol or higniusa.

Yuuka Boss Fight

Tojiko’s or Chimata’s affinities for Sumireko. With pierce immunity, you won’t have to worry about her unique skill. Debuff her attack, have dai-atma in case she raises her defense too high, and hit her with either ajirasol + ajira amp or acalasol + acala amp.
Shining Needle Castle
Chimata’s affinities are good for the dungeon and the second boss, but has a weakness to the first boss. Shinmyoumaru’s affinities are better for the first boss, has a weakness to the second boss, and are weak to a lot of the enemies in the dungeon.

I just stuck with Chimata’s affinities.

Shinmyoumaru is a good pocket healer.

Unzan + Tenshi = Ran (LV 67), who has hiacalasol and other strong AoE spells that will be helpful if you want to clear out encounters/farm xp.
  • Stick to the first or second floor for farming. The third floor has encounters with mixed affinities.
Seija Boss Fight

Attack her first in the dialogue. Seija will debuff you but then she’ll use social distortion and debuff herself. I basically attacked her the entire time while she outplayed herself. Agnisol + agni amp works best, but acalasol also works and you’ll probably use that for the following boss.

Shinmyoumaru Boss Fight

Boss Shinmy is slower and a weaker magic attacker than her sleeper. Hit her with every debuff, have dai-atma just in case her evasion gets out of control. Acalasol + acala amp does great damage and keeps her evasion buffs in check.
TORIFUNE
Rikako is a good pocket healer.

Chimera Boss Fight

Junko’s affinities + gas mask and the chimera can’t touch you. Spam agnisol for the win.

I was LV 70 for this fight, and just used Chimata’s affinities, healed when needed, and used cult or the attack – command when I could.
Dreamer’s Monolith Final
I had high agility and just ran from everything.

Dreamer’s Monolith Top
Have 50% completion of the sleeper database and talk to Nitori in the Genbu Ravine. Once she mentions Ran.Y in the code, you can enter the door at the top of the monolith.

Use Mizuchi’s or Yukari’s affinities and unequip your sword. You can keep your gun equipped, just make sure it does piercing damage. Have the cleanse passive, dai-atma, and dai-para.

Dream Sumireko Boss Fight

She’s not the same level as you, (she’s lower than LV 70) so you can use cult and buff to +3. Yukari just defends for the entire fight.

Minimize her attack and use azanisol. Paralyze spore and your elec weakness is annoying, but it probably won’t get you killed. Have dai-atma to clear her defense buffs, or just soldier through.

Accuse Yukari of being the culprit and bring up Ran.Y.

You’ll get a full heal and time to re-equip your weapons if you want to.

Yukari Boss Fight

She has a hidden dai-atma and dai-para. She uses dai-atma a lot, but only seems to use dai-para if you apply too many debuffs.
  • I had her at -3 attack the entire fight and she never cleared it, but once I started going for evasion debuffs, she cleared her debuffs.
Have cleanse on because you’ll be confused for almost the entire fight.

Between the witch hat + wizard glove combo and Yukari’s unique skill, you’ll never run out of MP.

Once you debuff her attack, you can mostly spam azanisol. Early in the fight, she’ll debuff your defense, so have dai-para or use defense + to counteract it.

If you want to use the all guns blazing strat, be sure it ends the fight since Yukari's unique skill will kill you if you're at 0 MP.
Road to Makai
Sealed Cave
Enemy levels are going to spike much more quickly from this point on.

Hignisol and hijirasol are useful spells to know. Yukari’s affinities work decently.

Be wary of encounters with Mima: she has debilitating aura, is tanky, and is the most threatening enemy you can encounter. I’d avoid encounters with her until you’re LV 75+ and can cult off of her.

I started putting points into MAG for farming purposes.

Mima converts to the crescent staff, which will give you more MAG. Her debilitating aura is great to put on Sumireko.

Ruins of Vina
I don’t like farming xp here: the sleepers here have coverage of many elements.

Sara Boss Fight

Yuuma’s affinities and auto the fight.
Fallen Temples
West is Yuki (fire), East is Mai (ice).
West drains HP, East drains MP.

When you defeat the boss, the effect goes away. I’d recommend rushing the boss, then grinding the encounters in the west temple.

Use Suika’s affinities for the East temple, and Miyoi’s affinities for the West.

The first floor of the East temple has a treasure room near the bottom of the map with six doors leading to chests. All but the top left, West door is trapped.
  • This chest contains the Iado Katana, which gives Sumireko +15 AGI. This can help you run away from encounters if you don’t want to light ball everything.
The second floor of the East Temple, near the middle of the bottom of the map is a chest that contains demon armor: +66 DEF.

The second floor of the West temple contains the metal face (+60 MDEF, +5 INT, MAG, and VIT). The chest can be found in the bottom part of the “cross” the map makes

Yuki Boss Fight

Equip a royal lunarian katana and auto the fight.

Mai Boss Fight

Use cult and agnisol + agni amp + hell warden gloves. Have dai-atma and dai-para since she can buff her attack and debuff your defense.

Mai and Yuki Boss Fight
Full fight: https://youtu.be/J97rXXWHY9k

This fight is rough. They have four actions per turn between them, play the buff/debuff game extremely well, have great coverage, and throw tons of ailments.

I tried to do this fight normally, but I didn’t have much luck, so I resorted to the all guns blazing strat.
I reached LV 99, then respec’d Sumireko and maxed out MAG and INT. I had 70 total points into AGI and put the rest into VIT. I used the crescent staff, metal face, and wizard gloves for more MATK. I also had Miyoi’s affinities.
Be sure to have boosters and some coffee (or energy drinks if you have them).

When you have everything set up, go into the forest of magic (or some other place with poison tiles) and get poisoned. Since you are poisoned, Mai and Yuki won’t be able to hit you with other ailments like paralyze or sleep.

Enter the fight with full SP and use Cult of Personality. You don’t want to be hit with a crit or have Yuki use dai-atma
  • I have seen Yuki dai-atma on the next turn, but I’m guessing that was unlucky.
  • Both of them crit often with their physical skills.
After you've used cult, use a booster, then focus, then use all guns blazing on Yuki.
  • In the meantime, hopefully Yuki attacks you with fire so she gets hit with your debilitating aura and hopefully Mai uses acala skills to heal you.
  • With Yuki at neutral defense buffs and when I was at +2 attack buffs, I was able to do 5970 damage: just barely enough to one-shot Yuki.
    • If you have the Yukkuri hat, you’d do more damage. Don't farm for it if you don't have it; it is unecessary.
    • If she has any defense debuffs, you should be able to one-shot her comfortably.
Now that Yuki is down, play safe, and hope Mai heals you with acalas instead of damaging you and/or dropping your defense with guard pierce. Keep the poison on and try to keep your defense at neutral.
  • Using Cult of Personality to maximize your evasion can help you avoid taking damage
    • You can't dodge attacks you drain
Use life chunks to heal as needed.

Mai tends to use hibala-atma if she isn’t at +3 attack, so using dai-atma can buy more time.
Once you are at high HP and are comfortable with the buffs/debuffs, start restoring your MP and using agnisol on Mai.
  • Keep your health, debuffs, and her buffs in check as needed.
I found this strategy to be the most consistent way to win.
  • That being said, this strat is anything but consistent: they crit often (which reduces SP), Yuki will dai-atma whenever she feels like it, and Mai can choose violence and only use phys skills instead of heal you with acala.
  • I didn’t try using ailments on them, mostly because I found it ineffective in the past.
Pandemonium
Yukari’s or Mima’s affinities for this area.
  • Kikuri, Sariel, and Yuugenmagan can hit Yukari’s weaknesses.
  • If you use Mima’s affinities, be afraid of Shinki and her 299 MATK + hignisol.
Best Girl Yumeko Boss Fight

She can only damage you with acalasol and basic attack, everything else heals you. She has 11 MAG so acalasol won’t hit hard at all.
In short: equip a royal lunarian katana and auto the fight.
Best Girl Shinki Superboss

This is a slightly easier, but lengthier version of the Mai and Yuki fight.

This is a re-fight because I didn't record the first successful attempt (I was having too much fun grinding the fight while blasting music).

Respec Sumireko: max MAG and INT, 85 base AGI, the rest into VIT.

With this much AGI you can outspeed Shinki when she’s in last resort.

You should probably replace the lunatic gun with the sniper rifle because Shinki can hit (and heal) herself when she’s confused, but I never proc’d confuse on her, so this wasn’t really a problem.

The key to this fight is social distortion: Seija’s unique skill that swaps stat changes with the target. This allows us to not only deal with Paradise Lost in one turn, but also fully buff ourselves and debuff Shinki.
  • Costs 75 SP
I used Mima’s affinities and went into the fight poisoned to avoid getting hit with any other ailment.
From there, the fight is just a matter of luck.
  • Hit her often to build up SP before she uses Paradise Lost again.
    • Boosters can help greatly, but only use them when you think you won’t have enough SP.
    • Getting hit with agnisol or crit (by basic attack) lowers SP.
If she clears buffs or debuffs, you should probably defend on focus turns (or just hope she uses yomisol or misses her first spell).
  • If she clears both buffs and debuffs, defend and pray.
Hopefully she heals you often.
  • If she uses charge, then she will only use pierce moves (and basic attack) on the following turn.
    • Charge + focus = Yuddha-samira. Treat this as a focus turn: defend if she cleared buffs or debuffs, or attack if both buffs and debuffs are up.
If you feel like your defense is dropped too low due to debilitating aura, consider defending.
  • You will get less SP from defending than you will attacking her, so only do this if you have enough SP for SD.
Have life chunks and energy drinks on hand just in case.
  • You shouldn't need to restore MP
  • If you do need to use an item, you'll probably need to use a booster as well.

Fun fact: Shinki is at least LV 99 because Cult of Personality does not work on her.
Conclusion
That's about all I have to say. I hope you found this guide useful, or entertaining at the very least.

I apologize for any inaccuracies and if my formatting and eccentricities were annoying.

On the off-chance you were following along with your own playthrough, congratulations!

Regardless, have a nice day :)
