Vanilla settings for Deus Ex Revision
By c5
Let's say you're interested in Revision for the compatibility and stability enhancements, but still want the "Original" Deus Ex experience. This guide tells you what to disable to get the classic Deus Ex you know and love but with all the behind-the-scenes tech fixes Revision offers intact.

Intro
You might be wondering why you'd want to download a mod like Revision just to play the original experience, but getting the original Deus Ex to behave properly can be tricky and the old cocktail of mods and fixes doesn't always work as smoothly as it used to, making Revision a good choice. All of the sub-menus in which these settings are changed are accessed from the "Settings" Menu on the Main Menu.

Game Options
In the game options menu:

Map Type: Vanilla (this is crucial because otherwise you will get the Revision maps with alternate layouts and music)

Gameplay Style: Vanilla

(You can leave things like New Game Plus on if you want of course, the gameplay experience will still be vanilla even if your start the second time around isn't)

Display Settings
New Vision: Disabled (this will turn off the alternate high-resolution texture package for environments)

Colors
Menu Color Scheme: Default

HUD Color Scheme: Default

Other Notes
The "Audio" menu does have an option that lets you switch between "Revision" and "Vanilla" music, but if your "Map Type" in the "Game Options" menu is set to "Vanilla" you should already have the original music, this option mostly seems to be there for if you're using the the Revision maps.

Appreciate the guide. Haven't played a ton of the original/vanilla version of Deus Ex due to troubles getting it running smoothly (and any other UE1 game, for that matter), and also didn't want the Revision stuff until after I've had my fill of the vanilla experience.

@Voland the difference is that Revision has option to enable models in HD Textures & skins and also the maps are kinda different, all maps are HD and with some better quality

But for install a better lightning you will need a reshade mod for exemple.
