Introduction - What is Burn?
By Limbus Company's definition, Burn simply damages the opponent by the potency of the burn on turn end, as well as reducing the count of Burn by 1. Simple, right?

This is the simplest way to describe burn in limbus, but of course since this game is made by Project Moon burn has many other variables that need to be explained first. Unlike other games where burn is determined by a counter or a flat number, burn in limbus has two factors you need to control, the potency and the count. Potency is simply how much damage burn deals on turn end, keep in mind that this damage is true damage, which means it will ignore any damage modifiers or protection the enemy may have, which can be useful for damaging enemies with high defense levels, protection stacks, or a damage resistance that disadvantages you.

Count is also pretty standard, as it shows how many potential times burn damage can activate until the count reaches zero, resetting any stack of burn potency to zero as well. Luckily unless versing against a large group of enemies you shouldn't need to worry about burn count, as count is piss easy to stack since you only loose 1 burn count at turn end, while all the other main debuffs (Sinking, Rupture, Bleed & Tremor) loose count much quicker; making stacking high amounts of potency tough.

While burn's low-demand count does make it easy to use, it also makes burn's potential damage much lower than other statuses, since for example a 22 potency bleed stack with 7 count count potentially proc 5 times dealing 110 damage in 1 turn, while a 22 potency burn stack with 7 count would only deal 22 damage on turn end max. Aside from cases where there are multiple enemies or abnormality body parts you can stack count on (and even then this is icky since only some ID's apply count on their S2s only, although this is still way better than other statuses) burn ends up dealing a lot less damage than other damages, and this problem is further exasperated by the fact that status effects can only stack up to 99 on potency and count meaning burn can only deal 99 damage max on one target while other statuses can deal thousands under proper circumstances (I see you sinking deluge).

While these problems may paint burn in an unfortunate light, there is a saving grace in the form of a unique burn status effect, that practically solves any problems burn previously had...
Dark Flame - The Savior
Sorry but I cant be bothered to make a high-effort guide, I will just a short guide tho

So dark flame is op and by minimal doubles damage, and can septuple it. Also keep in mind it is affected by pride resistances.
ID's - The GOATs
MBoutis is most important in pure burn, good clashing power but bad damage due to low coin count (2/2/1). Gimmick is gaining magic bullet by using Shield, S2 and S3, dark flame inflicted is equal to magic bullet so you always want to use S2, S3 and Shield.

Dawn Office Sinclair is a very strong ID that needs to be managed carefully due to SP gimmicks. He has 2 forms, first form is literally just a 2 star ID which is mid, but once you get him to 40+ SP (which is easy since he gains 15 SP on clash win + his S3 gives him an extra +10) he spends 20 SP to go to his second form. Second form is very strong, S1 gets a reuse on heads hit, S2 gets 1 attack weight (2 if at 45SP) and S3 becomes a massive 40 rolling single coin nuke that can deal alot of damage with wrath resonance. His passive is also very strong since at 5 wrath resources he gains up to 3 coin power scaling with SP, as well as very good burn infliction making him the best at potency and count. Only issue with him is that his S2 spends 10 SP (only 5 if clashing) and S3 spends 15SP, with when combined with his gimmick spending SP every turn exponentially (Turn 1 spends 5, turn 2 spends 10, turn 3 spends 15) he becomes a very tough ID to consistently get the most out of without support passives, especially since his S1 had a base power of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 3 which means you better hope you get lucky with heads.

Its important that the best way to maximise Dawn office sinclair's SP generation is base yi sang, base hong lu and N faust.

These two are the MVPs of burn, but they are only available during walpipi so save up your shards!
ID's - The Liu A-Team
Liu rodya and Liu Ishmael are must more simple than the walpipi IDs as their main jobs are just bonus application. They can be very good at clashing once their conditionals are applied, since their skills 1 roll 15 with some burn application and their Skill 2s roll 22 and inflict count. This is good since burn is a very easy status to upkeep. Their skill 3s differ as Ishmael's S3 is capped at 15, deals more damage with conditionals, and applies count, while rodya gets coin power up to 20 rolling, and spends 2 burn count to deal up to 30 wrath damage. Overall strong and good, but very basic

Liu ryoshu is also neat, but she is a 2 star so she isn't too impressive and doesn't inflict count, but still holds her weight.
ID's - The Liu B-Team
They are all ass
ID's - The Alternatives
Ring yi sang is good but you sacrifice base yi sang passive which is bad for dawn sinclair

N faust is good for SP heal for dawn sinclair (but this works wit support passive anyways)

Middle mersault is a alright ID with sloth generation and holds strong EGOs

Personally just use strong IDs as the 6th slot, personally I use w corp don since good resource generation.

EGOs - The Firebombs
Forest of Flame is neat base ego with good application

4th match flame does great damage and real good (plus passive can be timed with liu ryoshu's S3)

Ardor blossom star is VERY high rolling and synergistic with burn

Capote mersault is 45 rolling (lol) and does tremor-burn shenanigans

Capote ishmeal is eh but neat

4th match flame rodya inflicts +30% wrath damage (lol)
Mirror Dungeon - EGO Gifts
Hellwing butterfly and fiery down are more than enough for potency

Sooth the Dead (ashes to ashes + dust to dust) is really good since +1 coin power and burn count on every hit are its best perks and peak

These gifts + Glimpse of flame is silly 1-shot everything (and I mean everything)
Conclusion
Bye, sorry i forgot this my autistic friend made me do it

Also burn mid as hell

I would mention that, though not a burn ID, Ring Yi Sang likes being on a burn team, because it's a debuff that lasts a long lime, making it easier to retrigger his S2.
