How to update your own mods (without re-uploading) (2024: Steam workshop)

As the title says, also features how to only update your own suggested game version of the mod in the optional section.

Introduction

To update your existing Europa Universalis IV (EU4) mods in the Steam Workshop without re-uploading them, you can follow these steps:

1. Locate Your Mod Files:

Find the local files for the mod you want to update. Typically, these are located in your EU4 mod folder, which can usually be found at:

• Windows: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\mod
  
• Mac: ~/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/mod
  
• Linux: ~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/mod

2. Make the Necessary Changes:

• Update the mod files as needed. This could include editing or replacing files, adding new content, or fixing bugs.

3. Update the Mod Descriptor:

• Ensure the .mod file descriptor associated with your mod is correctly updated. This file should have the same name as your mod and be located in the same folder.

4. Open EU4 Launcher:

• Launch Europa Universalis IV and go to the "Mods" section in the Paradox Launcher.

5. Select Your Mod:

• Find your mod in the list and ensure it is selected.

6. Upload the Changes:

• Click on the "Upload Mod" button. You should see a list of mods you have previously uploaded to the Steam Workshop. Select the mod you want to update.

7. Upload the Updated Mod:

• Once you select your mod, the launcher should automatically detect that it’s an existing mod and will update the current Workshop entry instead of creating a new one.

8. Verify the Update:

• After the upload process is complete, check the Steam Workshop page for your mod to ensure that the changes have been applied and the mod has been updated.

By following these steps, you can update your existing EU4 mods on Steam Workshop without needing to re-upload them as new mods on the steam workshop!

• Stop at step no.6: Before uploading, click on the suggested game version (after you selected Steam Workshop) then click on the reload bar to set it to the current version of your EU4 release in use.
