Over the years I saw a lot of reddit normies join this game, see it's inactive and leave. (in which case that isn't a bad thing)
I find it kind of funny of the obscurity this game has on minecraft playing rick and morty baby cucks. that being said...I think think new players aren't a bad thing it's just the genre of weird freaks that join and end up leaving along with the many objections they have.

This is a guide on how to properly play this game along with some insight.

First, this isn't a perfect game however it damn well is one of the best out there, that being said not all publicity is good publicity I often times see steam reviews of people that talk all of this sh*t about Mordhau and Chiv 2, mount and blade, ect. HOWEVER their steam hours doesn't really reflect it OR help the case of aoc being better than x game with one person saying this having less than
20 minutes of gameplay... which clearly doesn't reflect their "bias" and is more of a herd like mentality because they probably repeated what someone said on reddit or their favorite youtuber said so they are going to say it too and thus is clearly an example of someone who is closed minded and clearly has no part of age of chivalry... maybe they are apart of chiv2 or mordhau and got mad someone killed them but by no means are they apart of the many players of aoc.

Now there is one last criticism I have that doesn't arrive within any game but it spawns somewhere else and that is this genre of youtubers that have somewhat of a niche following and they go on a even more niche dead game and wiggle their zoomer asses and invite their army of 12 year olds on a game they never even heard of, play for a day, say "BUT THIS GAME WAS SO GOOOD THO! MOAR PEOPLE NEED TO PLAY IT"......and leave and never even talk about it again. It's honestly sad to see my beloved aoc fall victim to this (and no I won't be sending the link it's cancerous enough how the youtuber was a furry.)

Here is the third segment about how to actually run this game along with many misconceptions people make when playing for their first time or just misconceptions in general and hopefully can give you a better understanding on how this game works.

So, the first big red flag everyone notices is the crash some get at the introduction sequence at startup now I can't say I know the root cause for this though here are some tips: if you didn't know you could get it so you never have the introduction sequence ( you can
put -novid in your steam game launch options to remove it) you can also just skip it every time by pressing the space bar key and nothing
else, this will get you in the main menu screen easy without any crashing. Another crash that happens is when you alt-tab out of your game, it is best to play on windowed mode widescreen so you can use something like a soundboard or check your messages.

And finally the last issue that every new player faces is joining a server on the server browser, it is a big topic as of these
later years because most people don't have the dedicated server launcher, or have never ran a dedicated server in their life and think
the reason why the name won't show on the server list is because of what some angry admin did (note don't poke at old devs too many
people do this and dm them only to find out they get angry and screw this game up even more) most people don't see any servers because by default they have filters set to "players only" and of course nobody is going to be playing aoc 24/7 so therefore there are no servers showing on your list ITS BECAUSE OF A FILTER SET BY DEFAULT and if you are living in the EU some users reported they couldn't join even when they disabled the filter, try a vpn that has been seen to work and no it won't mess your game up even with
something like ProtonVPN. and yes a new server CAN be seen on the server browser list, I have seen it with my own two eyes and met
server owners who set up servers, also the current aoc servers restart thus proving anyone can make a server that shows on the server list they just have to know their sh*t

So hopefully this has helped you, it is quite a long tutorial however i think it's needed for so many people, hopefully this answered
a ton of questions you had before and helped you have a better understanding of aoc I am not going to cover over how to play basics 101
