Introduction

You can achieve mouse-like precision with motion controls. This is called Gyro Aiming, with it, you can have most of the benefits of a mouse, with a controller.
Ever since the release of Splatoon on WiiU and the Steam Controller in 2015, Gyro Aim started to gain popularity. It’s been more than a decade since the technology is widely available, but people still don’t know how to use it or how it actually works. Nowadays, almost every platform is capable of using this and some people are really good with it, check it out:

Why Controllers Don't Suck in Team Fortress 2: https://youtu.be/PJIqEX93vL8?si=XTEGwZF-npqmLo5x

However, Valve added support to many gyro controllers on Steam via SteamInput API, allowing players to enable the Gyro function in any game. Because of that, players can bring Splatoon-style Gyro setup to any FPS/TPS games. The main problem is that it is time-consuming to set up, and that's why this collection of configurations exists, you can just import my configs and start playing.

I decided to spread my knowledge about gyro aim with my Channel Flick Stick Videos while spreading resources for new players all across the internet, this document is one of those resources. It's a collection of all my Steam configurations.

These curated docs will help give you access to all of my currently available Configs, FAQ, controls tutorials, and Compatibility Lists. Of course, I will be adding more games (while updating existing ones) to the list, so keep an eye out for this guide over time.

How these configurations work?
All of my configurations will use gyro as a mouse. Gyro can emulate the right stick, but it's harder to set up and it feels worse overall. Example:

What is Flick Stick?
Flick Stick allows you to flick the camera to the angle that you pointed with the right stick, or to sweep smoothly if you put the stick forward first. It takes a while to get used to, but it’s super fun and precise.
OBS: If you want to use my configs without Flick Stick, you can do so! Just change the right stick behavior from Flick Stick to Joystick Mouse.

How to apply these configurations?
Method 1: Simply copy the link of my configuration and paste it into your internet browser.

Method 2: Enter the controller configuration screen by clicking on the controller icon on the game page while the game is closed. Or open the game you want > press the home button > and go to ‘controller configuration’. > Click on the name of the layout > search for the name of my layout on the community tab. (To import layouts made for different controllers press the “show all layouts” button).

Controls
On all of my configurations, you can temporarily disable gyro by holding R3,

and toggle between the Menu Action Set and the Gameplay Action Set with the "share" button. Using this toggle button won't always be necessary, some configurations will automatically switch to the menu action set. The button is there just to fix any problems that may appear in the middle of gameplay.
I prioritize keeping the default controls bindings so players can quickly adapt to Gyro and Flick Stick, even if the game is emulating keyboard and mouse.
Feel free to change my configurations as you see fit. If you don't know what you are doing, I have an In-Depth Guide: here.
What Will You Need?
  • A controller with gyro sensors. (e.g., DualShock4, DualSense, Switch Pro controller, joy-cons, the Steam Controller or the Steam Deck it self).
  • Direct connection to your PC. Bluetooth or USB, it doesn’t matter. Just make sure not to use extra programs, like DS4 Windows, because we don’t want Steam to recognize your controller as an Xbox controller. *Disclaimer: Joy-cons on PCs infamously need beefy Bluetooth adapters to work correctly.
  • I highly recommend that everyone watch or read my Gyro Beginners Guide, where I explain some important concepts that I won’t have time to dwell on in this guide.

One-time Only Configuration
Enabling your controller:
Press the home button. > “settings” > “controller” > Depending on the controller you are using, turn on “Playstation” or “Switch Pro support.”

Calibrate your controller:
Click on calibration and advanced settings > Gyro Calibration > “Calibrate”> Leave the controller on a flat surface like a table or the ground and click “Continue”> Wait for a couple of seconds. Gyro is very sensitive, so be sure not to touch the table and not shake your leg while calibrating.
AUTO-CALIBRATION will attempt to calibrate your controller if you leave it still for a few seconds. The bar should fill up if the controller is left on the table and not if you hold it in your hands. If the bar fills up when the controller is in your hands, that's a sign that the calibration is too tolerant. So tighten it up by reducing the tolerance sliders or disabling this feature. I recommend leaving it on.

For PC players: Enable Big Picture Overlay:
Go to “settings” > ” In-game” > check the box “use big picture overlay when using a controller.” This will ensure that you won't have to enter big-picture mode to configure gyro in the future.
Config Ranks and Compatibility Notes:
Many games require a button to change the menu action set to properly navigate menus or a more complicated workaround that fundamentally changes the default gameplay experience, so my raking system will simply evaluate how seamless it is to use my configurations.

Gold Rank [🥇]: This is as close as you can get with Native Gyro Aiming support.
Every menu and action works seamlessly. It feels like the game was made for gyro.

Silver Rank [🥈]: The game requires some kind of workaround to navigate menus and do some actions, like using comm wheels. It isn’t as seamless.

Bronze Rank [🥉]: No Mixed Inputs and no way to navigate menus with standard gamepad controls. Completely locked with one input method that is nearly impossible to convert to a normal controller. It isn’t seamless at all.

Mixed Input [🎮+🖱]:
Mixed Input allows the use of both Game controller Input and Keyboard/Mouse input to be used at the same time. This gives players the benefits of Mouse Aiming and Analog Movement. However, the actual implementation varies and not all of them work perfectly.
The most common problems:
  • Button Prompt/Glyphs flickers if both Inputs are used simultaneously.
  • Keyboard/Mouse and Controller Input can conflict with the game, it may also cause Performance Issues.
  • No use of Hardware Mouse Cursor for Menu Navigation, preventing the use of Automatic Action Sets Switching. You may have to manually switch Action Set/Layers for Games with Software Cursor in Menus, with Drivable Vehicles/Planes, or in Mini-Games.

User-made Mods/Patches may be required to allow support for Mixed Inputs.
Example: Fallout New Vegas - lStewieAl's Tweaks, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated - Lock Controller Glyphs Patch

Limited Simultaneous Input [🎮+🖱 Limited]:The game doesn’t allow Mixed Input (or doesn’t work)...however, there is a way to bypass that limitation; using Mode Shift and/or Action Layer allows the Gamepad Emulator to switch between Controller and Keyboard/Mouse Inputs by holding the L2 Trigger.

This may require additional tweaking for both the Controller and Keyboard/Mouse Input in-game.

Examples: Apex Legends, Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident Evil 4/5/6/2 Remake/3 Remake, CONTROL.

Input only [🎮] or [🖱]:
The game doesn’t allow Mixed Input and the config will be using either Gamepad [🎮 Input] or Keyboard/Mouse Input Only [🖱 Input].

For Gamepad Input: Mouse Joystick style will be an alternative to the Mouse Input Gyro

"Mouse Joystick" attempts to translate the Right Stick Input as a Mouse. Essentially, the Right Stick Input pretends that it’s a Mouse Input. Setting it up varies by game, and you’ll have to take In-Game Joystick Camera Settings (such as deadzone, acceleration, and sensitivity) into account beforehand.

If you like to learn more, refer to Critical Input and RambleTan’s tutorials.

non-Steam Game Shortcut *:
If you see that asterisk next to the game’s title, it means it’s a non-Steam Shortcut, you must name it exactly as the game’s title to obtain the config.

"Gyro as Mouse" VS "Gyro to Mouse"
"Gyro as mouse" is the old version of Gyro on Steam, most of my configs were done when that was the only option. As time went on, this old implementation was filled with bugs and inconsistencies, so gyro was reworked and re-released as the new "Gyro to Mouse" mode.
Since my configs were done with flick stick in mind, you can simply export one of my old configs and change from "gyro as mouse" to "gyro to mouse".
*Disclaimer: Gyro to Mouse was updated and the default activation button changed. It was set to "none" on most of my configs, but now it's set to right trackpad click, so if gyro doesn't work, check the gyro activation button.
Game Config List (part 01):
Overwatch 2 [🥈/🎮+🖱]:
In-Game Requirement:
  • Mouse sensitivity: 3.7
  • Lock Keyboard and mouse UI. (Some characters won’t work properly with mixed inputs because of the different UI between controller and mouse, locking the UI to KBM will maintain mixed inputs, but it will break comm wheels, I did my best to make everything work, but the comm wheels and the scoreboard could be inconsistent, everything else works as expected.

Controls:
  • Hold R3: disable gyro.
  • Share Button: Toggle Menu Action Set.

Config:
  • OV2 Flick Stick by FSV (As Mouse): steam://controllerconfig/2357570/3021610015

Destiny 2 [🥉/🖱]:
In-Game Requirement:
  • Mouse sensitivity: 5

Controls:
  • Hold R3: disable gyro.
  • Share Button: Toggle Menu Action Set. On this config, since the game locks all kinds of gamepad inputs, you will be obligated to navigate menus with gyro, which feels even better and faster than with sticks, but the HUD icons will be a bit confusing.

Remnant II [Rank -🥇/🎮+🖱]:
In-Game Requirement:
  • Mouse sensitivity: 50 (default).
  • Disable "Gamepad Aim Snap"

Notes:
This game has mouse smoothing and the sensitivity is tied to the framerate. Because of that, it's impossible to properly calibrate gyro across every setup. This config was made with 60fps in mind and making use of the "No More Mouse Smoothing[www.nexusmods.com]" mod.

Controls:
  • Hold left trigger: enable gyro.

Marvel Rivals [Rank -🥉/🖱]:
Notes: I've tried to keep the default bindings but had to change some buttons. I listed all the changes below.

DISCLAIMER: Because of the anti-cheat, Marvel Rivals only works with Steam Input if Steam was launched using Administrator mode.

In-Game Requirement:
  • In-Game Sens: 2.64
  • Some heroes might need specific tweaking for a better feel, like changing Moon Knight's glide from Hold to Toggle. Flick Stick doesn't work properly because the horizontal sensitivity for each side isn't the same, it's still usable, tho.

Controls:
  • West face button (Hold): Disable gyro
  • West face button (on menus): View Replays and Highlights
  • R2: Select Menus
  • Start (Hold): Change Heroes
  • Select (Hold): Interact
  • Fly Up: South Face Button

FragPunk [Rank -🥉/🖱]:
DISCLAIMER:
  • Because of the anti-cheat, FragPunk only works with Steam Input if Steam was launched using Administrator mode. Please make sure to close Steam completely then re-open Steam in admin mode.
  • Changing the FOV will also change the sensitivity, if you desire to change the FOV. You will need to manually re-calibrate the dots per 360 value to make gyro and flickstick work properly.

In-Game Requirement:
  • In-Game Sens: 1 (default).
  • Change the run button (Keyboard) from "hold" to "toggle".
  • This part isn't necessary, but if you want flickstick to work with every zoom level, set the "Camera Sensitivity" to "Custom Per Optic ADS Sensitivity" and copy these values:
Multiplier
Value
1x
1.18
2x
1.79
3x
2.5
4x
3.58
6x
4.77

Game Config List (part03):
Doom Eternal [Rank -🥇/🎮+🖱]:
Notes:
Doom Eternal wasn't designed with the weapon wheel in mind, so this config has a "Quick Switch" version that will let you change weapons with the face buttons. More instructions below.

In-Game Requirement:
  • Sensitivity: 3 (default)
  • Quick Switch: Unbind the Weapon Wheel button.
  • If you are using Flick Stick, the weapon wheel's delay and the mode shift should be aligned; the default is 180ms. Change the weapon wheel delay in-game, then change the long press delay to the same value.

Controls:
  • Menus: Navigate menus normally, but be careful with the mouse cursor.
  • Gameplay: Hold R3: disable gyro.

How to make adjustments:
You can modify my configurations as much as you like! But how? Since changing some of the in-game settings can break some configs, most of the changes will be done on the controller configuration screen on Steam Input.

How to enter the controller configuration screen:
Click on the controller icon on the game page while the game is closed. Or open the game you want > press the home button > and go to ‘controller configuration’.
Here you have quick access to some important settings, like sensitivities and gyro behavior.

How to make changes:
Click on "Edit Layout".
Here you can change a bunch of settings, If you don't know what you are doing, I recommend my In-Depth Guide. You will probably just want to change simple things like the sensitivity. To do that, click on the gear icon on the "Gyro Behavior" section, or the "Joystick Behavior" section on the Gyro or Joystick tab respectively.
Q&A / Troubleshooting:
Q: Gyro isn't working, what to do?

A: Gyro to Mouse was updated and the default activation button changed. It was set to "none" on most of my configs, but now it's set to right trackpad click, so if gyro doesn't work, check the gyro activation button.

Q: Can I use your configs without Flick Stick?

A: Yes, just import my config with Flick Stick and manually change the joystick behavior from "Flick Stick" to "Joystick Mouse"

Q: Your Configs are broken, it shows the basic KB+M / Controller template.

A: Due to compatibility issues, all of my Configs were made within Steam Client Beta...

I recommend you opt-in to Steam Client Beta beforehand.
Here’s a guide on how to opt-in: Click Here.

Q: My controller is drifting, is it possible to fix it?

A: I may need to separate between two types of drifting

Gyro Controls:
Steam Input can auto-calibrate the gyro during regular use, just head over to Steam Big Picture Mode > Menu [Press the Guide button] > Settings > Controller > Calibration & Advanced Settings > Gyro Calibration and press the Calibrate button and follow the instructions. Afterward, you can enable “Auto-Calibrate Gyro Drift when Stationary and follow the rest of the instructions.

Analog Stick:
Your analog stick may be faulty or the deadzones are too small.

You can change the size of the deadzones by pressing the Guide button > Controller Settings > Edit Layout > joystick tab > Click on the gear icon and change to the preferred deadzone.

Q: Why do some configs emulate the Keyboard and Mouse instead of the Controller Input?

A: Certain games don’t support Simultaneous Controller+KB/M AKA, Mixed Inputs. If a game automatically changes button input methods, it will conflict with Controller and Keyboard/Mouse.

Al2009man says “For example: While Sunset Overdrive does support Simultaneous Controller+Keyboard/Mouse, the Weapon Switching system doesn’t, since it uses a Weapon List (Keyboard/Mouse) UI instead of Weapon Wheel (Controller) UI. Combine both inputs and the game will constantly switch between them. (more on that in the Config Compatibility section)

My initial solution is to recreate Keyboard/Mouse settings and recreate a weapon wheel using a Radial Wheel. If you look at my Sunset Overdrive config today, I figured out a way to remedy this by using Fire Start/End Delay and Start/Release Activations.”

Mixed Inputs are essential to getting Motion Aiming/Gyro Aim working alongside Controller Input. The downside is that, unless you’re given an option to manually lock Button Prompts, Button/Input prompts will rapidly change or use Keyboard/Mouse Prompts.

Depending on the game (and mods); this can be avoided as you can turn on “Lock Input as Mouse” in Fortnite or “Change Button Icons/Button Icon Display” in Death Stranding. Allowing the Controller and Keyboard/Mouse Inputs to be used at the same time, instead of fighting each other. Otherwise, you’re at mercy with Controller/Keyboard+Mouse implementation.

Unlike Mixed Inputs, Steam Input API goes for In-Game Actions instead of Button Inputs. This may solve that “Continuously changing button input” problem, but it varies by Steam Input API and Game implementation.

Q: One of your Configs looks like it’s a Standard Controller, but when I Pull L2 Trigger all the way in, it changes to a completely different layout.

A: Some games such as the newer Resident Evil games (specifically, RE4-onwards), don’t allow you to use Mixed Inputs, forcing you to choose either Controller or Keyboard/Mouse Input.

To bypass this problem, I took advantage of the Mode Shift and Dual-Stage Trigger setup.

Let me give you the short version: Mode Shifting is like the SHIFT Key, but the controller layout can change if you hold the designated Mode Shift Button. While Trigger Actions give you either Analog Pull or Digital Press Inputs (In Steam Input terms: Full Pull and Soft Pull respectively.) both can be used as Dual-Stage triggers.

This technique is used as a way to “Shift” to the Keyboard/Mouse Layout when the Left Trigger Full Pull is pulled, letting go will revert back to Controller Input. This is used in action in Resident Evil 5.

However, if you’re having issues with L2 Trigger Full Pull as the game acts as if it wasn't receiving Input upon Full Trigger Pull; there’s a chance that your Controller’s triggers don't work as intended, depending on the game.

Will this work if I upload a game that I own on EA to Steam with the "Add a non-Steam game" option?

Borderlands 2 has some weird quirks where setting the right “dots per 360” does a 720 degrees when doing a full sweep or doing a 360 when pulling the joystick down. Now what I did is just half the what I put in “dots per 360” and it now works fine when doing a sweep but pulling the joystick left or right overshoots a little bit. I don’t know what’s the problem here.

Can I put in a request for Remnant 2? I've tried setting it up multiple times, but can't get it right

Fantastic, saved my God of War headaches. The steam:: link didn't work though, I had to find your template manually by searching the community templates. Thankfully I did, and it's perfect. Cheers!
