The Plateau

Here's a World Map that I've spent entirely too long creating, hope it helps somebody out there. I did not include coin locations because that would have gotten crowded real fast, but with the numerical count and the new metal detecting feature of the compass, hopefully that's not an issue.

Small note regarding Mortar Island: The enemy count includes the +5 from the mortar bird, aside from it there are 21 regular enemies.
How to track down missed collectables using the compass
Since update 1.0.3, the compass now enables you to hone in on collectables that you missed. The compass is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen while sand-surfing, and you can also summon it to be visible at all times by pressing D-Pad down.

By default, it simply points north. However, once you pass certain thresholds, it will alert you to collectables that you missed:
  • Once you've collected at least 17 fish, the dead fish skeleton in the compass will begin pulsing faster and faster when nearing a fish
  • Once you've collected at least 480 coins, the large orb in the compass will begin pulsing faster and faster when nearing a coin

Oh okay phew, thanks for the reply. I'd like to add that keyboard users can toggle the compass to be visible at all times by pressing 3 (for some reason, at least in my case). Can this be confirmed?

@Enistone Thankfully no, the game keeps track of exactly which enemy's coins you have collected and which ones you haven't. If you miss a coin, simply let that enemy respawn and it will drop its coin again when defeated.

Enemies for sure respawn when you reload the game, and I believe they also respawn when you die.

Sick map, useful guide! I do have one question: what happens if the coin from the dropped enemy i.e. falls into the void? Would that mean restarting the game?

i was missing 12 coins by the time i had every fish and thought i collected everything in every zone. found 6 at pond tower and then 6 at bone rails, i have em all now! instead of flashing with red now the compass is golden, time for the tower! thanks for the guide, it was helpful to know that there's even a key to enable the compass

i had to smack around my keys a lil bit to figure out how to open the compass on a keyboard. it's the letter "3" out of all things. F2 opens the coins and fishes at all times

Ooooh, i was under the impression that each fish gave different amounts of coins for some reason, had i known this would have been much easier from the start. Thanks !

@Doca the single fiver coin found at the well is not counted for any of the locations. I probably should have marked it on the map in some way lol.

However, you can also just do math. The coin total is 696, there are 26 fish, each fish rewards 10 coins => 260 coins total from fish.

696 - 260 = 436 coins total

(Although that obviously includes some big coins that reward five, ten or even fifteen coins when collected, as well as coins dropped by enemies)

Stupid question, i'm trying to count how many non-fish coins are in the game : is the single big coin in the tiny western square shrine (the one on the hill between pond tower, crane tower and slide fort) counted in the total of any of these three locations, or is it left out of any total ? It's to my knowledge the only coin that's not really linked to a big location, so i just wanna make sure whether i should add it separately to the total or if it's already accounted for by any of the coin totals on the map.
