How to beat the big fat boss
By notmilk
The Godskin Noble can be a very difficult boss on first playthrough, this boss may even want to make you yell obscenities about his big character model. In this guide I will tell you how to very easily put down the guy.

Preperation
To start off It is best to be on the safe side with at least 30 vigor and more if you think you will be getting hit a lot.

Another build that does really well against the Godskin Noble are bleed builds, if you are still having trouble after this guide feel free to respec into a bleed build and go to town.

Items to prepare:
Sleeping Pots (Sleep effect)
Pickled Turtle Neck (stamina boost)
Exalted Flesh (phys dmg boost)
Plenty of Rune Arcs

First of all make sure your weapon is at max somber 6+ or regular 15+ for best results at this point in the game getting your weapon to this would be fairly easy.

To Craft Pickled Turtle Neck you will need:
  • Rowa Fruit x3
  • Turtle Neck Meat x1
  • Herba x1
The Cookbook can be bought off a merchant here:

To Craft Exalted Flesh (for builds that do physical damage) you will need:
  • Rowa Fruit x5
  • Lump of Flesh x1
  • Hefty Beast Bone x1
  • Arteria Leaf x1
The Cookbook can be bought off a merchant here:

And Finally, the most important step: Sleeping Pots
To Craft this item you will need:
  • Mushroom x1
  • Trina's Lily x1
  • Empty Cracked Pot x1
The Cookbook can be found here:

And remember to pop a rune arc before the fight, Godrick's Great rune will suffice.
Strategy
Time to put the fat guy to sleep

Now time to get into the meat

Again make sure to have a great rune activated before starting the fight (It wont go away until you die)
And have a couple sleep pots in your pouch or quickbar.

As soon as the fight starts you are going to want to have a sleep pot out and throw one on him. Make sure it hits and he doesn't run out, it should only take 1 sleep pot and he will fall to the floor and be immobile for a max of 60 seconds until hit.

Use this time to buff and pop all of earlier prepared items. It's also recommended to use other buffs from incantations such as, flame grant me strength. After that charge up your hardest hitting move and you should be able to get a couple hits in before he wakes up.

Now the fight has started and he is down health and you have all your buffs applied.

After most of your buffs have ran out look for an opening and throw another sleep pot at him, it might take 2 this time because resistance builds each time sleep is procked. Then repeat buffing and attacking for more damage. If you are running a bleed build the boss should be fairly easy with sleep pots because he is weak to bleed effect.

How to Counter
His moves can be easy to dodge when you know what you are doing.

Fireball:

When at a range he will throw his black ball at you, watch the animation and dodge sideways or through it.

Black Flame Ritual:

He will lower his hand and summon black flames surrounding his body, dodge when he lowers his palm and distance yourself. This attack isnt very troubling as long as you stay back and wait to melee.

Double Stomp:

The Noble will stomp in front of him twice, roll out of it and maintain distance.

Belly Shove:

I hate this attack because it reminds me of how BIG he is, but regardless its easy to dodge and does 0 damage just staggers you a bit. Just roll back and you will be fine.

Stab attacks

The noble will either Stab & Overhead strike or Stab & Backhand and likely combo different variations. The best you can do is watch and dodge sideways if you are dodging right the backhand after shouldn't hit you.

Second Phase Transition (Below 60%)

A little bit above half health he will begin an animation to transition to phase 2 (if you damage him fast enough he will skip this)

Fat roll:

The Godskin Noble will get fat jump up and land on his side rolling around like a wheel towards you. You can either hide behind pillars until he stops. Or chase him in a circle, run behind him and he will loop around not hitting you because his turn radius is awful.

Crusher:

The godskin noble will get fat and jumps upwards then slamming down on you, dodge when he starts to fall.

Repeated Thrusts:

He will thrust his rapier very fast several times, dodge sideways and then punish him.

And those are his attacks to look out for.
Find opportunities to punish him after he makes his attacks and when to throw sleep pots on him to buff up again and get free hits.
Conclusion
Using this information you should do fine on the Godskin Noble, learn his attacks and how to punish him so you wont have any trouble on him ever again. This is my least favorite boss mainly because of the way that he looks.

If you are still having trouble after several tries using sleep pots and the strategies presented in this guide you can try a few more things.

  • Respec into a bleed build
  • Respec into a ranged build
  • Overlevel (70+)
  • Skip him and Rykard
  • Progress the Volcano Manor Storyline

Bleed: The Godskin Noble is weak to bleed as stated earlier so it would make quick work of him especially with sleep pots.

Ranged: Besides his Black ball the Godskin Noble is easy to beat from a distance with ranged magic or a bow.

Overleveling: Anything below 70 is probably fine but if you are still struggling you can do other stuff and get between 70-90 to make light work of the boss.

Skipping him: The only thing the guy blocks is a achivement, rykard, and 1 somber stone 7 (until you get later in the game). Rykard is not needed to beat the game so if you hate this boss as much as I do you can always just not fight him. And the other option is if your goal is to fight rykard you can progress the volcano manor storyline where at the end Tanith will teleport you to rykards room.

Thanks for reading, go kill that big back for me.
