A guide to help you recognise the oddities lurking in Oxford Square 34 St Station.

To avoid jump scare spoilers, this guide does not contain any visible monster screenshots (these count as anomalies too). It only mentions the monsters relevant to achievements.

Welcome to Oxford Square 34 St Station, where you'll be spending the next couple of hours trapped and unable to escape! :)))

Before we start: This game was released 31 Mar 2024, and this guide was written 26 May 2024. If there are future changes made to this game, it may not completely align with this guide. Please let me know if there are any changes I've missed that need to be added.

How to Play

Anomaly Exit is an anomaly finding/spot the difference/observation horror game.
You move from station to station looking for something that just isn't quite right.

The first station you're introduced to is the "correct" station. So, remember the location/orientation/sound/shape/graphical look of things in that station. Text found in the station never changes.

After you leave that very first station through the exit, you'll be taken to the anomaly station. Each station either has one anomaly or no anomaly. There are 35 anomalies in this game. Once the in-game counter registers all 35, you've found everything and it'll go back to counting from 1. Press esc to check the menu and the anomaly counter. Your objective is to exit the station by finding the "correct" station that has no anomalies. Therefore, you don't need to find all 35 anomalies to finish this game.

When you see/hear an anomaly, click it to mark it and take the train to the "next" station. When you don't see any anomalies, use the exit gate. If you're wrong, your screen will turn red and you'll have to start from Station 1 again. If you're right, the screen will turn white and you can leave Oxford Square Station.

Unlike anomaly horror games such as Exit 8, the same anomalies can repeat in the same run. You'll notice that more easily once you've unlocked over 20. Again, keep an eye on the anomaly counter in your menu (press esc) if you'd like to track your progress. Note: As of writing this guide, the anomaly counter is semi unreliable at times but eventually catches up.

Achievements
Achievements in this game are easy and straightforward, but fun to search for. Several are missable only because you may successfully escape before bumping into the relevant entities/monsters. Warning: I've kept it bare bones, but the missable achievements' descriptions below have mini spoilers.

Story Related

Nope, nope, nope, nope!

The End

Missable
- Several monster/entity interactions that grant you the achievements below will kill you and you will need to start from Station 1 again. So, you can either go for the missable achievements below first or the ending achievement first.

It ain't that complicated!
Leave Station 1 through the exit.

Stalker
You'll hear breathing and a big round man will pounce on you.

We have a problem!
Once you get to the first anomaly station, keep clicking on the button in the train until it pops.

Brave or Blind?
When you see any monster/entity, go towards it.

Did you even try?!
At the first "correct" station you're put in where you're meant to look around and memorise everything, as soon as you load in, turn around and leave before looking at anything.

Void Man
When you go upstairs, an entity rushes at you from the left corridor. At first it'll be a round circle moving across the floor. Let him get you.

Temptation
Upon picking up the phone, you'll hear a voice instead of a tone. It'll tell you not to look behind you. Look behind you.

Found you!
One of the monsters that chase you. For me, this triggered right after the "Temptation" achievement.

Anomalies
Obviously, below are heavy spoilers.

Note: I don't believe you need to mark any of the monsters/entities or situations where the lights turn off immediately after initial encounter with a monster/entity. Which is great since you're probably running away anyway! If you do mark something, it doesn't seem to matter and it registers the monster as the anomaly automatically. Everything else such as inanimate object anomalies require you to mark them.

Non Visual Anomalies
  • Sound from maintenance room is different.
  • Weird man sounds coming from WC/bathroom (next to phone booth).
  • Picking up the phone you'll hear a voice (don't turn around-unless you're doing that achievement).

Hard-To-Spot Anomalies
  • Sink holes/Pits: A large part of the floor will be a different shade of grey. Increase in-game contrast to 45-50 etc if you can't see it well. Places I've spotted it: On the platform once you exit the train near the stairs, or after you go up the stairs to your left. These areas will be a pit you will fall into and die if you step on it. Mark it and leave.

Anomaly Variation
  • The order/look of these can change per playthrough: posters/vending machine/standing pipe (lockbox type thing with red sticker on it near locked gate with posters). So pay attention to the order, shape, location of these on the first "correct" station visit for every fresh playthrough (when you leave the game and play again). The anomaly counter is shared between playthroughs.

Anomalies I didn't take screenshots of
  • Lights turning off slowly towards you
  • Danger sign door pushed wide open
  • Vending machines swapping places (exact location and colour order depends on what you get for that playthrough)
  • Display sign with upcoming trains will move location (closer to where you get off the train)
  • The numbers on the poles can constantly turn to look at you (ty, Riveretta)
  • Every poster swap at the locked gate area (as this is random)
  • Monster/entity encounters

Anomalies In Order of Location

- Rubbish bin as soon as you get off train has a body stuffed in it

- Art gallery advertisement flickers into spooky photo (it flickers and changes with the light at side glance)

- Sink pit nearby platform stairs

- Stairway up becomes very narrow

- Travel poster across from foot of stairs has a shadow man

- Alien on the screen of the middle ticket machine

- Backpack girl poster turns into Sadako

- Eyes at the end of the exit gate

- Vent to the right of vending machines has seepage

- Sink pit across from vending machines

- Poster of smiling/teeth guy turns spooky

- Maintenance door opens slightly

- Something seeps out from vent in the left corridor

- Box with red sticker changes shape (has two variants-box type and elongated type)

- Poster of kid turns spoopy (it flickers and changes with the light at side glance)

- Poster of pain relief guy, he has no eyes

- Posters behind locked gate (several variations, orders change per playthrough)

- Poster of woman behind locked gate changes to shadow

Final Words
Basically, I spent four hours just staring at subway station walls and floors, and then second guessing my memory and standing at one spot a bit too long and dying a gazillion times. I was especially blown away by the sound and art direction for the entry sequence into the station, and really enjoyed the hold music (for once in my life) that I turned it on almost every time I went through like it was my designated level music. Hopefully, other people have fun with this cool horror game. This is a guide created with the hope that the developer continues to create awesome spoopy games.

Just a note to everyone who may be referring to this guide for all anomalies:

Vent anomaly was removed to balance the ratio of scary to normal anomalies.

Additionally, anomaly variations are not a concern anymore. As they were causing issues with progression.

Thanks for playing ya'll!

Thx for your guide, thats realy helpful!
Can you update this or make a new one with the new anomalies/achievements from the v2.0 plz?

For Void Man, he can also come from the right. Had both variations.

And there's also the pipe on the ceiling where you step off the train. Had it be yellow and change to red as an anomaly. Could probably be the opposite, like the standpipe, but didn't check for that.

Thanks, Riveretta! I thought I already uploaded a screenshot of the train display for some reason. I'll update that one and the numbers on the poles one to the list.

The sign with upcoming trains can move forward in the station like 3 pole widths, and the numbers on the poles can constantly turn to look at you.
