The best garden layout for making money

Here's an optimal garden layout to make a LOT of money in Palia. You'll be able to leave this garden AFK and it will continue to provide an endless supply of star quality apples.

If you don't want to AFK in game, you can load up the game once every hour (real life time) for the apple trees to grow another stage. You only need to be in game for a second for it to count.

This garden consists of:

• Five apple trees
  
• 100% self watering apple trees
  
• 100% weedproof for the entire garden
  
• Fully AFK (aside from set up and replanting apples trees)

Setup

Before you start, you will need at least 1 apple seed to get started. It's given from the level 3 friendship quests with Zeki and Nai'o or by purchasing it with gardening medals from Badruu (280 medals). You will also need 12 onion seeds, 12 potato seeds, and 12 carrot seeds (not required, you can replace carrot if you want). The optimal amount is 5 apple seeds.

It's completely up to you if you want to harvest the potatoes, onions and carrots, and then replant them again. I just leave them all fully grown and only harvest and replant the apples.

So What Is The Layout?

The perfect layout:



Each apple tree has 3 onions and 3 potatoes, making every apple tree self watering and fully weedproof. I've planted carrots in between to weedproof the entire garden but you could also plant whatever you like in place of the carrots, and the apple trees will still be self watering and weedproof.

Simply plant your garden in this way and watch your apples roll in.

OK But How Do I Make Money?

Once you've harvested your apples the best way to make money is to use your 'star quality' apples and put them in the preserves jar to make apple jam. Because the apples are star quality, the apple jam will always be star quality as well, and so it will sell for 1.5x the price. So every star quality apple jam will get you 144 gold!

Multiply that by 30 star quality apples and you have 4,320 gold per each preserves jar! Have too many apples? Get more preserves jars! Just make sure you keep 50 apples left over to make 5 apple seeds for every time you need to replant your garden! Eventually, your gardening level will be so high that you will only get star quality apples every single time!

Here's my preserve jar set up, they can make star quality apple jam faster than I can even put the apples in! Having 7 preserve jars is a lot, so you could easily make do with just 5 jars.

I'm not making enough money!

So you want to know how to completely maximise your profits?

First, you need glow worm farms. I have 7 glow worm farms, working hard for me all day long. Here's my glow worm farm set up!



Once you have them ready, head over to Zeki's store and buy Mountain Morels for 22 gold each. I often buy 500 of them at once to save time! Now go back to your glow worm farms and fill all of them up with Mountain Morels. They will convert each Mountain Morel into 3 Harvestboost Fertilisers, which is very important! They will also make one glow worm as a side product, which you can sell for 25 gold. You can see where this is going!

Each Mountain Morel you buy for 22 gold gets converted into a glow worm worth 25 gold. Not only that, but now you have massive stacks of Harvestboost Fertiliser. Get your fertiliser and top up all of your apple trees to 99 fertiliser. Make sure to always keep them topped up if they are getting low!

If they are fertilised with Harvestboost for their entire growth cycle, they will give you 24 star quality apples per tree every time you harvest. This is the most apples you can ever get from one tree! And with your glow worm farm working tirelessly for you, you'll never run out of Harvestboost Fertiliser. You can even sell your extra fertiliser for extra profit, it sells for 5 gold each!

Now you have the most efficient and profitable money making set up in the entire game!

Extra tips

• Running low on Mountain Morels? Keep them stocked up at Zeki's store!
  
• Topping up your jars getting annoying? Split your stacks of apples in half, after harvesting. Then just right click on each stack of 15 apples to instantly fill each preserves jar. Save the unused apples for making seeds!
  
• Have too many glow worms or Harvestboost Fertiliser? Sell your extra for even more profit. You only need to top up each apple tree by 9 fertiliser every growth stage (one real life hour).
  
• Don't forget to water your apple trees once every time you plant new seeds!
  
• Fingers getting tired of clicking purchase to buy stacks of Mountain Morels? Me too... me too...
  
• If you can't build enough glow worm farms, upgrade your plot to have more crafters available, you can do this at the town hall. It will pay for itself very quickly!
  
• Make sure you keep enough apples left over each time to make 5 more apple seeds!

An alternative to Potatoes is Boy Choy and Napa Cabbage, which does the same watering work as a Potato, in fact you can even do a combination of Potatoes and Bok Choy.
Also many watering plants overlap their watering abilities to more effectively water crops, which makes the Potato and Boy Choy combo very useful.
