how to play REAL online multiplayer

Everyone says it's impossible, but i say it's unpossible. (requires third party mod)

What the hell are you talking about?

DOWNPOUR IS NOT REQUIRED TO USE THIS MOD.

Everyone knows you usually have to use parsec or remote play to have fun rain world times with your friends, but i'm here to tell you a better way to play it, one without latency and with multiple keyboards.

There is no third party .exes, there is no remote streaming, there's just online multiplayer.

I'm talking about the non-workshop mod, Rain Meadows. It currently has Story mode (along with a few other custom modes) support, along with mod support if you feel like tinkering with that. You can simply invite your friends, and brave the harsh ecosystem. I really respect these guys for the work they're doing here.

Alright, no more wasting time, it's time to get into the spicy part.

How to Download

First off, if you want to play this mod,

• you have to get the latest version from their discord server[discord.gg].

• There, head over to #playtesting-pings and download the latest version.

Once you've got that beautiful .zip file sitting in your downloads,

• you want to go into your mods folder and drop it there. (located in "RainWorld_Data\StreamingAssets\mods")

• Make sure to name the unzipped folder "rainmeadow".

After that, i highly recommend turning off all other mods than rain meadow itself, for compatibility. Make sure to turn on the mod in the remix tab.

After you load Rain Meadow, you should see a "meadow" tab in your game.


If you see this screen, congratulations, you can now play online rain world.

What's the catch?

There's more info about the current development state of the mod in the discord, but all modes seem to work except Arena/Competitive. There is also a few issues with joining via steam without an invite, though that may just be on my side.

Also, only the Survivor campaign is supported by the mod developers, although you are able to configure that in the mod settings.

If you have troubles with getting rainy meadows to work,

There are plugin DLLs in the plugins folder.

You copy these to the bepinex folder, which is seperate from the mods folder.

Should fix problems getting the UI element.

The github "version" is not a valid mod, it's more of a guide if anything. If you want to play this mod, you're pretty much required to have discord.

I am having issues installing this mod.

Long story short:
Mod is enabled
Nothing new comes up
I can't do anything
(Using github version btw)

I put the "Mod" folder in the mod folder alongside my downpour stuff
I renamed it to "rainmeadow"
It shows up in remix settings, but does nothing when enabled.
I even disabled the DLC.

Yes, it's a very steep price. I do recommend buying the "authentic" version however, for this multiplayer mod to work.
