Co-op online without sharing screens, for an "online co-op"-like experience

Sharing a screen in jolly-coop is frustrating, whether it's split or not. Following this guide, everyone can have a screen for themselves

Steps

The approach is to use a small program (usbmmidd_v2) to make an extra virtual display, the split-screen mod to make rain world actually use the display and finally parsec to connect your friend to it

As the host, you'll need the game and downpour DLC, your friend doesn't

Install the split screen mod

Install usbmmidd_v2 and create a virtual second monitor. Youtube guide and download link[amyuni.com]

Both of you will need parsec

As the host, in parsec set the captured display to the virtual display. This setting is in settings->host->display.

In the split screen mod settings, enable the multi display option.

Have your friend connect and start the campaign. Have fun!

actually, I figured it out yesterday. there is a setting in the split screen mod called "Dual Display (experimental)" and it makes it output to two monitors.

you dont need it anymore, there's a mod released that lets play multiplayer by using steam P2P

You can add up to 4 virtual monitors with usbmmidd_v2. just run the "deviceinstaller64 enableidd 1" command multiple times. Now, I'm not sure how to make parsec show all of them. However it seems that the paid version of parsec should allow this https://support.parsec.app/hc/en-us/articles/360054478211-Multiple-Monitors-and-Virtual-Displays . it has a free trial that you can use to test it with
