Fixing start-up crash

This guide will show you how to easily fix a common start-up error causing the game to instantly crash as you boot it up.

Alright! The start-up problem should be fixable by placing a modified version of the GFWL-file (xlive.dll) here: Steam\steamapps\common\Bulletstorm\Binaries\Win32

This missing file is what is causing Bulletstorm to crash on start. The xlive.dll file is tweaked to bypass GFWL issues.

You will have to extract the file since it's a ".rar" file and then place it inside of the Win32 folder.

Bulletstorm should now run!

Not working?

If your game still doesn't run - restart the computer or steam and try again.

This fix has been tested by me and worked on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

I am also known by the name "Subscrub", "Mackeeei" and "Pork & Beans" and have been referred to by these names in other guides or in the comment section.

About the xlive.dll file:

It has been mentioned in the comment tree of this guide that some antivirus programs react towards this file. (NOD32, AVG)

I am not the creator of the file and according to my knowledge the file was published by the group Fairlight (FLT). It is just a stub for Games for Windows Live (GFWL) and doesn't contain any destructive code as far as I am aware. This file is not a "crack" for Bulletstorm, it was only included to bypass certain problems with GFWL.

I have used the file from this tutorial myself and have had no problem.
