Dead Island 2 without EOS

For those who want to play Dead Island 2 without EOS.

Steps

• Make sure the Epic Store program is uninstalled.

• Before launching the game for the first time, navigate to X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dead Island 2 and delete the EpicGameLauncher folder.

• Next, open the DeadIsland.ini file (file is in Dead Island 2 directory) in Notepad and modify NoOperation=0" to "NoOperation=1.

• If the Epic Games Launcher is already installed on your computer, uninstall it before proceeding with the steps above.

Extra + Credits

• It is very likely that when playing without EOS, the game's entire online system will not work. However, you will be able to play solo without any problems.

• You will still earn all achievements as normal.

Still not worked for me it allways said please make sure that the epic store launcher is installed but I ve deleted all EOS folders maybe I have to reinstall the game by default first again and then follow thig guide again the problem it took 5 hours to install Dead Island 2 xd why the fkk did they crossgaming never used it and it skks

I'm having similar issues with achievements not progressing. I have been able to unlock story based achievements, but progress towards others such as maiming and finisher moves are frozen. It appears it was recording progress at some point and just quit. I purchased and played the game for the first time after the hotfix v1.0 (April, 26). The game has not updated since I've played it. All steps above were followed exactly. Epic Games client has never been installed on my computer.

Hello @Lil C]-[ew C]-[ew is ☂д☂. Steam achievements are being earned normally (even after this update). Because this method is just to avoid needing EOS, it does not prevent you from earning Steam achievements or accessing DLC content.

Have you been managing to unlock Steam achievements since hotfix v1.0? Since then the error with ''EOS not found'' appeared outta of blue and erasing epiconlineserviceinstaller.exe solves part of the problem. I can run the game but ever since April 27th and prior I can no longer unlock, obtain or update any ongoing achievement on Steam .

This is weird. In my case, when I found out about this tutorial, I ran a file check through Steam and uninstalled EOS through the computer's control panel. When I opened the game I received this too ( Dead Island 2 was not started correctly", please launch the game through your game client for the best experience. Some online features may be unavailable if you continue ) and ( connecting to Epic Games Service ).

And when I pressed ENTER, my game started normally. I don't know why this part about asking for an email is happening.

I don't know if it could work, but maybe you could reinstall the game and try to follow the step by step

When I press enter and continue I get "connecting to Epic Games Service" message and in the browser it asks me to enter my EGS email address but it does not accept it even if it is correct address.

Any ideas please?

Hello @KVAS TARAS. There is no problem if you have already started the game without doing this process first. You can uninstall EOS normally and then do the step by step.
