Very Very OP Thrower | The Deathslinger Build - Nizar GG

Introduction

This guide is a written version of Nizar GG's Deathslinger Build. As this is a very simple build, this written version is enough to guide you through the game, however please do check the original work as well.

The play-style of this build is quite simple. Just. Keep. Throwing.

Character Creation

Race: Wood Elf or Wood Half Elf for travel distance

Class: Barbarian

Ability Points

Levelling Up

Starting as a Barbarian
Level 2: No choices
Level 3: Choose Berserker Subclass – ENRAGED THROW
Level 4: Get Tavern Brawler Feat; +1 STR
Level 5: No choices – SECOND ATTACK PER TURN

Multiclassing to Rogue
Level 6: No choices
Level 7: No choices – Cunning actions are useful to get: Dash-Disengage-Hide with your bonus action
Level 8: Choose Thief Subclass – Fast Hands/EXTRA BONUS ACTION
Level 9: Get Dual Wielder Feat

Multiclassing to Fighter
Level 10: Choose Defence Fighting Style
Level 11: Action Surge – Extra action once per short rest
Level 12: Choose Eldritch Knight Subclass – Weapon Bond: You can bond any weapon to your hands making them come back to you when you throw it.
Cantrips: Blade Ward and Friends

Section 1: Shield and Magic Missile from the first section
Section 2: Longstrider or Enhance Leap

Early Game – Act 1 Surface

Ring 1: Ring of Flinging – Can be bought from Arron in the Druid Grove – BEST IN SLOT

Main Weapon: Returning Pike – Can be bought from Grat in the Goblin Camp

Helmet: Haste Helm – Can be picked up from the locked chest near the Ancient Sigil Circle waypoint in the Blighted Village

Bow: Bow of Awareness – Can be bought from Roah in the Goblin Camp (Zhentarim Halfling)

Armour: Utilize your Medium Armour proficiency as a Barbarian as best as you can, focus on AC.

Act 1 Underdark

Ring 2: Caustic Band – Can be bought from Derryth in Myconoid Colony (Dwarf who is looking for her husband) – BEST IN SLOT

Gloves: Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo – Given to you by Derryth in Myconoid Colony if you save her Husband – BEST IN SLOT

Act 1 Grymforge

Boots: Disintegrating Night Walkers – Can be picked up from Nere’s corpse – BEST IN SLOT

Act 1 Githyanki Creche

Offhand: Knife of the Undermountain King – Can be bought or looted from A'jak'nir Jeera in Crèche Y'llek

IMPORTANT NOTE: You can use this weapon after you get the Dual Wielder feat at Level 9

Act 2

Cloak: Cloak of Protection – Can be bought from Quartermaster Talli at Last Light Inn – BEST IN SLOT

Main Weapon: Lightning Jabber – Can be picked up from the Cursed Kuo-Toa Chief from the ambush at the North East of the Grand Mausoleum entrance. – BEST IN SLOT

IMPORTANT NOTE: As you are probably not at Level 12, which gets you Weapon Bond, use a Lv.3 Eldritch Knight Hireling to Bond this weapon to your character AFTER EVERY LONG REST, until you can do it yourself.

Act 3 Lower City

Bow: The Dead Shot – Can be bought from Fytz at Stormshore Armoury in Lower City – BEST IN SLOT

Armour: Armour of Agility – Can be bought from Gloomy Fentonson at Stormshore Armoury – BEST IN SLOT

Amulet: Fey Semblance Amulet – Reward for completing Avenge the Hag Survivors quest – BEST IN SLOT

Helmet: Sarevok’s Horned Helmet – Can be picked up from Sarevok’s corpse – BEST IN SLOT

Offhand Weapon: Rhapsody – Can be picked up from Cazador’s corpse – BEST IN SLOT

Permanent Buffs

Act 2
Potion of Everlasting Vigour – Permanently Increases STR by +2: Gotten by convincing Astarion to bite Araj Oblodra in Moonrise Towers

Act 3
Mirror of Loss – Can be used to get +2 STR: House of Grief

This seems very effective, but wouldn't the dwarf be the best class for the throwing hammer that returns or the thunder trident? Then you could do champion instead for increased crit chance.
