Guide to Modding Rain World 1.9.15.3 (QoL Patch Hotfix Update) ~LINUX~

This is a guide to modding Rain World 1.9.15.3 on Linux (includes step for Steam Deck).

Intro

Okay, so you want to play with mods when playing Rain World, but you aren’t sure how to get it set up for modding. This guide is for you! :D
Follow the steps below, and it should work!

Steps

Step 1: If you have any mods installed, disable them.
Step 2: Allow Rain World to close after the process completes.
Step 3a: If you’re on a Steam Deck, go into “Desktop Mode”. If you’re not on a Steam Deck, you can skip this step.
Step 4: Open up the “Discover” app/program.
Step 5: Search up “Protontricks”.
Step 6: Follow the setup instructions if you’re given any (giving access to files via terminal, for example).
Step 7: Select “Rain World” from the list and click “OK”.
Step 8: Select “Select the default wineprefix” and click “OK”.
Step 9: Select “Run winecfg” and click “OK”.
Step 10: From the “Applications” tab, click on the drop-down box across from/next to “Windows Version”.
Step 11; From the list, select “Windows 7”.
Step 12: Click on the “Libraries” tab at the top (should be next to the “Applications” tab.
Step 13: In the “New override for library”, type (exactly like this): “winhttp”, and click “Add”.
Step 14: Click “Apply”.

OPTIONAL - Open “Protontricks” again and repeat steps 7 through 9, and make sure the settings you changed/added stayed.
Step 15: Open “Steam” and head to the “Rain World” Workshop page.
Step 16: Pick whatever mods you want to have, and subscribe to them.
Step 17: Exit the Workshop page for “Rain World”.
Step 18: Run “Rain World” by selecting/pressing “Play”.
Step 19: Enable the mods you subscribed to.
Step 20: Restart “Rain World”.

Your mods should work.

Disclaimer

IMPORTANT - Mods that aren’t updated probably won’t work. You’ll have to wait for them to get updated by the mod author/developer.

Although it doesn't work for everyone, a alternative much easier method to attempt first is just Set Rain World's launch parameters on Steam to the below line
