Introduction
Unlike subsequent games where the branching paths of a given save file can be determined by an in-game options menu, Pajama Sam 1 lacks this, and always picks the locations of the Flashlight, Lunchbox, and Mask randomly. For those who wish to have a specific way of going through these routes, there is an option that involves the debug menu.
Enabling the Debug Menu
For good measure, to make sure that the Debug Menu is enabled, check the file "scummvm-pajamasam1.ini" file inside the game's ScummVM_Windows folder in the installation directory (usually Steam>steamapps>common>PajamaSam1>ScummVM_Windows in whatever drive you've installed your Steam games in).

Check if the line "SputmDebug=90996" exists in the [scummvm] subcategory. If it doesn't, copy and paste that line in that section.
The Debug Menu
Upon starting the game, press "C" to access the pathing section in the debug menu. Each of the two icons in each row corresponds with where that item will be, the left being the "simple" option and the right being the "advanced" option. I would suggest making the selection immediately when starting the game in Sam's room and not touching it again once you've made your choice.
