This is a simple guide on how to configure DOSBox correctly for playing Vanilla DOOM and playing Vanilla Compatible WAD's, this guide also applys to DOOM II

Configuring DOSBox
Configuring DOSBox is no big deal, this will focus on how to configure DOSBox for DOOM II.
First, go to your DOOM II directory and go to the folder named "base", there you will find doom2m.conf, open that file and replace these command lines.



fullscreen=true
fulldouble=false
fullresolution=desktop
windowresolution=original
output=openglnb

machine=Svga_S3

frameskip=0
aspect=true
scaler=normal3x
Playing WAD's and DOOM II
now if you noticed, we have made it so DOOM II does not start straight away, you need to type doom2.exe in DOSBox to configure it. we did this so its easier to play Vanilla Compatible WAD's, this guide will focus on basic vanilla Compatible WAD's that DONT have custom sprites with Deh's or Deusf files.

HOW TO PLAY WAD'S

First, get your WAD of your choice, doesnt matter, has to be Vanilla Compatible though. and type in DOSBox.

doom2.exe -file "your wad" and press enter.
