Loading a previous savegame (No mods required)

Did the autosave function screw you over? Here is how to load an earlier savegame.

Why you should be able to load a different version of your save game.

You might want to try something out, see how it works, and reload if you don't like it. Like hiring a very slow employee for the first time, or buying a storage room that you can only enter from the street.

If you save before doing that, you might want to reload. But the games autosave function will save on exit, override your manual save, and load the game at a point where it's already too late.

This is especially frustrating when you exit (or the game crashes) by mistake during the day, with many products gone from the shelves that weren't paid for yet, and the customers gone. Or double-clicking the open-closed sign and wasting a day.

How to load an earlier savegame.

The folder where your savegames are stored, by default, is:

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Nokta Games\Supermarket Simulator

If this folder is hidden, you can type %appdata% in the explorer file path. This will open AppData\Roaming, so you'll have to navigate to the previous folder (ALT + Up Arrow Key).

You'll find multiple files with the .es3 extension - those are your savegames, both manual saves and autosaves, the names being the time the save was created.

If you move the latest of those files into a different folder, or delete it (don't delete it permanently before you aren't sure everything loads fine), the game will load the previous file. If this didn't work:

Steam Cloud

If Steam Cloud Sync is enabled, this won't work, the game will re-download the latest save from the cloud. If this is the case, right-click the game in the steam library, click on properties, and disable steam cloud. If you delete the es3-file now and start the game, it will load the previous one.

I recommend creating a manual save after that. You can enable steam cloud again now if you wish.
