How to get 1 Mil and not tilt yourself to the Bronze Gates

Just some tips and thoughts I had on my way to 1 mil.

Terms
  • Double or Nothing — a game mode that will unlock when you win the normal mode. To start Double or Nothing mode take pills in the starting bathroom area, they are near the computer (computer also works btw) You will need to start this mode in order to get to 1 Mil.



  • Draw — You receive a box with randomized items and the randomized amount of ammo (slugs / shots / live and blank rounds). Ammo is showed in no particular order since it's been loaded into the shotgun randomly as well. You'll get every new draw once all the ammo is used.

  • Turn — you have items on your table and decide what to do, turn ends when somebody shoots a gun (some items can let the player or the dealer skip his turn)

  • Round — a set of turns that ends when someone losses all the lives (energy / lightning icons on the side bar).

  • Stage (some call it a Phase) — a set of 3 rounds, at the end of each stage you decide to keep playing or exit and receive the money you've won at that point.
Basics
There is neither 100% guide that will help for sure, nor guarantee the victory in one try, so just be ready to spend a lot of time and do lots of attempts. I got my first 1 mil only 17 hrs into the game. And yes, you NEED to do it without losing to get the achievement, I've tried to just collect 1 mil. accumulatevly throughout many tries, it didn't work. Some basics to know beforehand:

  • You start the game with 70k and you lose ~3k every minute but you start to lose even more with time. So you MUST be fast in your first stage. So how do you do that:

    • You need to finish the first stage (first 3 rounds) in 9 mins or faster, otherwise you will have to play an extra stage just to get to 1 Mil.

    • You don't need that much money though, only 31.3k or above. Even at 50k you'd need to win 5 more stages in a row anyway. So just get your 31.3k and press that V to continue.

    • To win 1 mil. you need to win 6 stages in a row without losing (18 rounds).

  • You will always have the first turn each round, remember that and use it to your advantage.

  • Unlike a normal mode, in Double or Nothing the max limit of live and blank shots are 4 each.

  • Remember that you and the dealer will keep every item that is left on the table when going into the next stage, so every item that is not being used will still be there in the 4th/7th/10th and so on rounds.

  • Don't be afraid to restart if you don't like what you get in the first round or if it's like 4 hp and 8 shots.

  • Never restart preemptively if you think you'll die (unless it's guaranteed), the Dealer doesn't cheat (although sometimes it feels like he does), he can miss (a lot of times he used a saw only to shoot a blank at me and for some reason he also likes to shoot himself in the face lol)

  • Play the game in a small window while watching a stream / a movie or something else, don't just 100% focus all the time because you will get angry and stressed out very soon (but be sure to check how many live and blank rounds there everytime, I've messed that one up too many times (if that happens to you, just shoot the dealer everytime and use all the useful items like in a normal round, maybe you'll get lucky)

  • Don't let the game get to you, live your life, do other things, you will get 1 mil eventually :)

Adrenaline
  • Upon use instantly allows to steal one item (except for Adrenaline) from opponent's table

  • After using you only have 7 seconds to do it, otherwise the effect wears off and you miss your chance
Beer
  • Upon use allows to eject the current shell without firing it.
Burner Phone
  • Upon use, tells the location and type of a random shell loaded in the Shotgun

  • The phone will tell the location from the current shell

  • Only the one who uses the phone gets the information

  • If the player attempts to use the Burner Phone while there is only 1 shell left in the shotgun's magazine, the Burner Phone will return "How Unfortunate...", wasting the item.
Cigarette Pack
  • Upon use, the user will gain one charge (one health point)

  • User can't receive more than the max health
Expired Medicine
  • Upon use, the user has a 50% chance of regaining two charges and a 50% chance of losing one
Handcuffs
  • Upon use, the opposing player will skip their next turn

  • You can't use them on yourself (thankfully)

  • You can't stack them (you can't handcuff an already handcuffed Dealer)

  • Very useful to use them and then shoot the Dealer, since you still have a move after that
Hand Saw
  • Upon use, the user will cut off Shotgun's barrel

  • The Shotgun will then deal double damage for the next turn if a live round is chambered

  • The barrel will regrow after the turn ends
Inverter
  • Upon its use, the current shell inside the Shotgun will have its polarity reversed; a blank shell becomes a live shell, and a live shell becomes a blank shell
Magnifying Glass
  • Upon being used, the user will see what type of round is currently loaded in the Shotgun's chamber

Going for 1 Mil.
1. NEVER shoot yourself unless you are 100% sure it's a blank even if the chance is like 1 live to 3 blanks (it is still very risky, avoid if possible). but DO shoot yourself if it helps to end the round with a better hp if hurting yourself is the only option compared to receiving more dmg from the Dealer (example: two shots left, you have no items and 2 hp and the Dealer has a saw. In cases like that potentially shooting yourself is a better option UNLESS the Dealer has an inverter too. Then you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥

2. ALWAYS shoot the Dealer, if you don't know the current shell. If it's a 50/50 or worse, he loves to shoot himself as well (but keep in mind what I've said in rule 1).

3. NEVER blind guess, only play percentages and strategize the whole round before making a shot, you only need to go fast in the first Stage, the rest has no time limit, so take your time.

4. NEVER take pills, unless you are 100% going to die on Dealer's turn. Mostly they exist to bait in the dealer. I've never took them in both my 1 mil runs.

5. Always use all useful items at the beginning of a long round as soon as possible if you notice the dealer got one or multiple adrenalines (even if it means spending a cigarette without gaining any health just so he doesn't take it, same for the saw, glasses and the phone)

6. Try to kill the dealer in one turn or leave the dealer with no turns even if it means shooting yourself once to avoid getting x2 damage if he has a saw for example.

7. Inverter can be the worst drop ever or it can save your life. (For example: You have 1 hp, Dealer has 2 hp, there are 2 shots left, you have a glass/phone, inverter and cuffs and the Dealer has whatever. You will win 100% in one turn every time with these items if used correctly) But if you have too many inverters (I usually get like 3 of them in one drop lol) I just use 2-3 if it helps to free the space on my table but keep in mind the shot that will be in the end of these manipulations.

8. It's best to use the phone when there are two shots left, but also use it if the dealer has an adrenaline (he will go for the cigarette first if needed, then the glass/phone/saw/cuffs, then the beer/inverter/pills) some people don't know it, but the phone tells you the position from the CURRENT shot, not overall in the round.

9. Use adrenaline to steal his saw if that's the best choice in the current round, even if it's a 50/50 or worse. it's better to use it yourself and have a chance at hitting him than to leave it and get shot. But beware, you have only a few seconds to steal an item from him and you can't steal another adrenaline.

10. Cuffs are your friends, use them as often as you can, there are a lot of situations where they will be useful, for example:

  • stealing his cuffs so he won't use it on you
  • knowing that you will 100% hit him so the cuffs prevent him from starting his turn afterwards
  • 50/50 when there are a lot of shots, maybe you'll get lucky and shoot him twice in a row

11. Always try to finish the round with more health than him, but if you see that he has cuffs, glass, saw combo and there is like 3 shots and you have 2 hp and for example only 2 beer cans, use both cans and shoot him with the last just to get the better gear next and avoid getting killed.

12. He will get better gear more times than you, so your job is to let him play as less as possible and leave him with as less gear as you can even if that means not shooting him.

I have found out that:
Equal numbers in the phone mean that the next even number DOWN (the phone tells you the 4th shell is a blank, so the 2nd will be a live round) will be a live round. opposite with the next odd number down. if the phone tells you it's a live, the 2nd is a blank
