About the map - I'm not sure that Tier 1 maps are the only good option. True, they are easier, but in my experience, Tier 4 maps were giving me more resources (levels and gold), allowing to scale with the right build. I tried both of them and, if I remember correctly, did it on Tier 4. I'll maybe add these ideas just to keep other readers informed. Thanks for the suggestion!
Not sure if anyone else is struggling with unlocking Furoge but hopefully this information helps.
The key was to use weapons that could be aimed away from enemies or left behind (dropped) along with careful stat picking. I used toad oil (starting weapon), crow boom, mower blades, katana, and moles. For stats I focused on HP and crops/xp, reduced apple spawns/healing, ignored most attack size and knockback upgrades, increased resistance and -enemy damage/+enemy speed/spawns, and generally tried to stay underpowered. I also had to get my health low long before day 14.
These 2 achievements are more about committing fully to farming for a day. Make sure to have all plots purchase early on, buy 50+ seeds and plant them all at once.
Hope this helps.
However - I'd say for these 2 achievements froge isn't as important as your strategy for the run.
To unlock Billybob, make sure you have a proper economy and don't try to rush it early on - just improve your gold income. Pick a Tier 1 map to make sure pests don't hinder you from growing crops. Around Day 10-11, you should have all plots opened. At the next Merch-Ant buy fast-growing crops - when you hover over the seeds, it shows the stats. I believe potato was one of those, but there were other quick plants. Pick Toucans and Elephants only as pets, with Elephants as a bigger priority. Picking up level-ups that increase crop growth also helps.
Common has a small ripple.
Uncommon is slightly larger.
Rare and Epic have stars.
Legendary has gold stars.
