How It All Works
Stats are made up of the base stats everyone starts with at level one, a fixed adjustment based on the vocation, and then the stats you get on level up. Upon leveling the game references an internal index to determine what stats to give you and then modifies those manipulatively based on your current vocation before finally giving you the stats. Stats gained upon level up are never changed once gained, regardless of what vocation you are or change to.

There is also a cap to the stats you can get upon leveling, seen below. I haven't been able to fully confirm but your final stat cap seems to be as follows Final Cap = Base Stats + Vocation Adjustment + Leveling Cap.

RECAP

Everyone starts with the following stats at Level 1:

Every vocation has its own fixed adjustments to your stats just for being that vocation:

Game gives stats based on level according to an index stored in
re_chunk_000.pak
located at
re_chunk\natives\stm\appsystem\ch\common\human\userdata\parameter\lvupparameteruserdata.user.2
and are adjusted by your current vocation and rounded down before given to you:

Note: The modifiers for your vocation are found in the same file as the leveling index.

Putting it all together here's the first five level ups for Thief as an example:

NOTES

  • Some levels just have 0 growth for a given stat.
  • Growth seems to slow down around Level 45 and more so around Level 85, making 0 growth for multiple stats more common.
  • After Level 100 base stat gains are mostly 1s and 2s.
  • It's extremely likely to hit Leveling Cap on your stats by Level 200.
  • You get 1 point of Knockdown every level up to Level 81, putting you at 100 max before equipment.
  • Max Carry Capacity growth comes every 5 levels up to Level 40.

CONCLUSION

With how the game handles stat growth it is extremely tedious to try and optimize general growth to hit your Leveling Cap as soon as possible, requiring a class change at almost every level. Changing based on levels that are extremely one sided, such as Level 69 that's +5 Strength and nothing else or Level 71 that's +5 Magick and nothing else seems more viable. Focusing Physickal or Magickal stats to the Leveling Cap and then switching also seems more viable.

I highly recommend just ignoring stat growth optimization and just playing and enjoying the game. It's very unlikely you'll hit Level 200 and not have all your stats at their Leveling Cap, even if you do you have another 799 levels with growths of +3 HP, +1 Stam, and +1 in all stats to correct the issue.

Thanks to the RE Engine fan community for making this possible.
Vocation Adjustments and Growth Multipliers
Character size does affect Max Carry Capacity with the biggest characters seeming to get an extra 6Kg of capacity. Unconfirmed if this is a fixed amount or percentage based.

Although the game has a growth modifier for Knockdown Resistance there doesn't appear to be any levels where you gain Knockdown Resistance.

I do not know how Dragonforging a vocation in NG+ affects growths. I could not find the information and am not far enough to reverse engineer it. Some people have said it just gets you more experience.

Some have said it does adjust your growth multiplier but the actual stats you gain aren't showing up on the level up graphic but are reflected in your actual stats. I cannot confirm either of these.

Feel free to post pictures of any levels gained with a Dragonforged vocation in the comments to help.
Leveling Index
The Leveling Index has been fully transcribed and can be seen below. I am confident it is accurate but I didn't do a double check for errors so there might be some. Levels 201 through 999 having the same stats growths is based on a random sampling of that level range and I did not check every single level.

I'll move the data into a google spreadsheet and post it here at a future date so people can do what they want with it.
Levels 1 - 30
Levels 31 - 60
Levels 61 - 90
Levels 91 - 120
Levels 121 - 150
Levels 151 - 180
Levels 181 - 999

Okay I found the caps, and I see that you can hit the base four stats by lvl 135, but HP and Stamina wouldn't be capped until 176 & 175 respectively. :) Though that would require a lot of changing jobs almost every level and a ton of warrior levels. :)

Thank you for this, I wonder what the caps are? I've read that the caps differ per class, I assume that the cap is on the base and can be multiplied by the class adjustment beyond that base amount and we don't just lose stats by reclassing in the late game.

I don't know that I'd intend to level up that high, but I'm curious of the most effective path to level up so that my stats are all max by level 158 as mentioned?

Thank you

I did the same thing, knew the exact levels from 1-28 of a character and vocations that where used. I added the stats manually, seems the rounding down only happens on the level up window with the stats. The numbers are kept internally without rounding.

This are my calculated stats without rounding:
1126.9 947.4 162.4 138.7 134.2 127.8

These are my shown stats (rounds down but the numbers are the same)
1126 947 162 138 134 127

After doing the same for my dragonforged Fighter pawn, her HP, Str and Def are lower than what they should be, her stamina is higher but despite having the same growth as Wayfarer it's 60 less than mine, and her Magick and Mag Def are also way higher. So it has somehow sacrificed the stats she needs to be an effective Fighter just to get a bit more magical. What the actual heck?!

Okay, after some further investigation: The level popups show growth-adjusted increases rounded to the nearest number (0.5 rounds down for some reason? but I imagine all the decimals are kept for the total). I've also spent an hour adding the table stats together and comparing them to my current in-game stats, since I've been primarily levelling dragonforged Wayfarer it makes it a lot easier since it has no stat bonuses or growths to complicate matters... except the stats don't make sense. My Stamina, Strength, Mag Def and (by a tiny margin) Def is higher than the above tables, but my HP and Magick are lower than what they should be, yes I've already triple-checked my additions. So either something in the above tables are incorrect, or dragonforging maybe alters stat growth to sacrifice some stats for others?

The biggest issue with this system....is getting hired, become to high level and most people have to pay to use you

Upgradinng vocation is actually works but has a very insignificant impact, for example lvl 98 unupgraded sorc has +4 to health, and upgraded has +5 to health, and very often you will gain nothing from it then leveling.

@ninakoru Rings and augments don't affect base stats, which is what I've been tracking.
ninakoru Apr 12, 2024 @ 3:49am
@Aurani, maybe you have any augment affecting stats? I did my fair shake of testing and everything adds up. Multiplier per indexed stats, rounded down.
Aurani Apr 11, 2024 @ 8:07pm
Okay I just levelled to 91, the stat increases matches the ones in the chart.
