Workaround to make text / font size bigger for YNAB4

The simple trick to make YNAB4 display larger text and make it easier for your eyes (and your life).

The Trick

If you are still sticking to using the old (and best imho) version 4 of You Need a Budget like me, you probably have some problem looking at how it run on modern big screen, The text becomes smaller and harder to read, especially for Asian script that I must use sometimes..

I've been looking for a solution of this annoying problems for years without success, then today I just realize that the cause of the problem is that the app was old and not made for big screen. So, why don't we just try to make it mimicking the running on smaller screen? The solution is just there all the time.

Just open Windows Settings > System > Display and look for Scale & Layout.


 
Then you can change either Scale to something bigger than the default 100%, for me just 125% is already good enough. This make the whole windows run as if you are using older monitor with smaller resolution. (You can change Display Resolution as well, the effect is similar but I'm not recommend doing that.)

This make my YNAB display differently from this: (Scale 100%)

 
To this: (Scale 125%)

 
You can even change the display scale while using ynab and check the result on the fly. The only limitation is it affect your whole windows display system, so don't forget to change back to 100% afterward.
