Stutter Fix Competitive Setting Dirty Bomb

*this guide would receive intermittent and random updates throughout time, depending on my free time/availability and interest to play games and benchmark them*

Dirty Bomb gameplay for competitive settings with minimal lag, stutter, and FPS drops,

open this link https://pastebin.com/bVR8wieu and standby.

1) adjust in game graphics settings with MINIMAL PRESET, DIRECTX 9, APPLY/SAVE, EXIT GAME.

2) go to desktop then document / my games / unrealengine3 / shootergame / config, open shooterengine.ini

3) copy the contents of the link provided previously, paste (replace all) the contents in the shooterengine.ini

4) make the shooterengine.ini as READ ONLY.

5) launch dirty bomb and enjoy your competitive advantage in this dead/alive game.



feel free to adjust your resolution in the shooterengine.ini , and NOT in the game anymore (except maybe in console (setres)).


bonus tip: open console (~) and type texturepoolsize 4097
for a potato texture. but i think with this shooterengine.ini you dont need this texturepoolsize 4097 anymore....
the ini file do (almost) it all for you now.


bonus tip 2: in the shooterengine.ini , find BSM , there are two BSM , set both BSM to TRUE.
Next, adjust the BSM max fps to -1 . Do -1 to both BSM.
This will unlock your framerate to unlimited AND DISABLE GUN RECOIL (only if you reach 300++ fps).
Warning ⚠ if you use this BSM and play with high ping, you will teleport. SO revert back both BSM to FALSE.


bonus tip 3: uninstall certain background apps like
NVIDIA APP,
Geforce Experience,
NVIDIA Frameview,
NVIDIA Frameview SDK

i find that after uninstalling these apps, the frametime become more stable, less 'spiky'




bonus tip 0: this is not authoritative nor scientific really. just did this in a spare time. the sample size is 1 run. so take everything here with a grain of salt. things done to the shooterengine.ini : texturegroup numstreamedmips, no vsync, poolsize (referenced arkham knight BMT tool)

methodology used:
castle map, local empty server via console. as sawbones, run down the escalator heading towards the fenced river then jump off the attacker ramp to EV, run through the small defender room, run through the long road, continue running until arriving at the dungeon (final spawn point for defender's EV stage), jump on the triple barrel, and do a continuous (somewhat fast) ~180 degree mouse swipe until benchmark ends.

the BEFORE mostly suffer from slight stutter when doing 180degree mouse swipe, and then the AFTER minimizes this stutter.

the AFTER slightly improves FPS numbers including (5% percentile, 1% percentile, 0.2% percentile, 0.1% percentile) over the BEFORE.

the AFTER slightly improves overall frametime (blue graph) stability over the BEFORE. this could translate as more consistent FPS and rarer FPS dips/drops but, this is purely theoretical and too fast for me notice personally.
