Bonjour you flippin' buttholes!, or hole...maybe an empty crack? anyway, this is my guide telling you about some random junk about the L4D universe. I don't really understand why you chose a guide that was made by a guy called Dr.F41L and the image is done in paint, but I don't particuarly give a ballsack what floats your boat and I appreciate that you have chosen this guide! Hopefully this guide will be helpful to you and yeah, I would appreciate if you sucked my balls but a like would be just as appreciated.
L4D Lore & Characters
Left 4 Dead 1/2 Lore

Now, Left 4 Dead is set in a world where a zombie outbreak is taking over parts of the world. In L4D1, it follows the story of 4 survivors Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey. Their story takes place 2 weeks after the first infection in some place that I don't know the name of, anyway, their story is simular to L4D2's story in the fact that they try to escape the infected and get evacuated in order to survive. The gameplay starts after the cinematic intro which you can see here:
(All L4D1 Campaigns are available to play with L4D2)

Now, after you have completed all the L4D1 campaigns (besides 'The Sacrifice' and 'The Passing') then to know can see what happens after the end of blood harvest by reading the comic here:
(I think it also gives a backstory to the characters aswell)

http://www.l4d.com/comic/comic.php

'The Passing' Campaign takes place after 'The sacrifice' and 'Dark Carnival', 'The Passing is when the L4D1 survivor's story and the L4D2 survivor's story cross pathes.

The lore for L4D2 is that the survivors where staying in their hotel in savannah when the 'Green Flu' struck.

The lore about the 'Green Flu/Infection' can be found here:

Left 4 Dead 1 Survivors
(All the survivors in L4D1 & most in 2 all appear to be sterotypes, war veteran, everyday man/woman, biker, redneck)
(Bill and Francis are my favourate characters in L4D1)

William "Bill" Overbeck

"Aaah... I'm getting too old for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥." "Hell, I was too old for this ♥♥♥♥ fifteen years ago."

Bill is the wise, old, army veteran, leader of the group and takes care of them asthough they were family. 'It took two eventful tours in Vietnam, a handful of medals, a knee full of shrapnel, and an honorable discharge before the unthinkable happened: Bill ran out of wars. But now an army of infected has declared war on humanity. After decades of aimless drifting and dead-end jobs, Bill's finally gotten back the only thing he ever wanted: an enemy to fight.'

Francis

"Good thing I'm indestructible."

Francis is the badass biker that hates nearly everything in existence. 'Cocky, loud, and pretty sure he's indestructible, Francis acts like the zombie apocalypse is the world's biggest bar fight. When the virus hit, everybody else stockpiled food and looked for a place to hide. Francis found a gun and had some fun. No cops, no laws, no order—if it wasn't for all the zombies, he could almost get used to life like this.'

Louis

(couldn't find the "cool" image of louis,so enjoy this instead)
"All I know is I'm grabbin PILLS!"

Louis is the survivor that represents the "everyday man" and he is the kind, positive and in my opinion the wimpy one of the group :b (Also may be addicted to pills). 'Louis had been working up the courage to quit his job as Junior Systems Analyst at his company's IT department when a virus showed up and downsized the world. Now Louis has a new set of goals (live long enough to succeed) and a new set of tools (guns, sharp objects) to help him achieve them. With any luck, he'll figure out how the new management operates before they get a chance to murder him.'

Zoey

"Great...that makes me the last woman on Earth."

'After spending her first semester holed up in a dorm room watching old horror movies, Zoey was given a choice: Stop fooling around and get her grades up, or drop out. Now that the planet's overrun with murderous zombies, and all of her professors are dead, Zoey at least has the cold comfort that she's been studying up on the right subject after all.'

Left 4 Dead 2 Survivors
(Nick is my favourite character in L4D2)

Nick

"I have not...come this far...to die now."

Nick foreshadows francis' personality and is a grumpy, gambling, drifter. 'A lifetime of drifting from city to city, finding back-alley card games and trying to stay out of jail has taught Nick two valuable lessons: Don’t trust anyone, and look out for number one. He’d come down to Savannah looking for some gullible fish on the riverboat gambling cruise circuit. Instead he found a city about to be engulfed by infection. Now he finds himself forced together with three complete strangers in a fragile alliance that goes against every instinct he lives by. But he’s going to have to learn to trust them if he wants to survive.'

Coach

"My friends call me Coach"

This is Coach, 'Coach has a big heart, a positive attitude, and a wicked swing with a chainsaw. After a knee injury ended his career as a defensive lineman in college, Coach salvaged his degree (bareley) and landed a job teaching health at the local high school in this hometown of savannah. Working as a defensive coordinater for the freshmen team might not be the first step to landing a pro coaching career; but it's come in pretty handy for the job of guiding his new friends to safety.'
Coach is a huge fan of the biker rock band 'The Midnight Riders', he claims that "They have the best pyrotechnics in the business"

Ellis

"Kill all sons-a-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.That's my 'official instructions."

Ellis is the sterotypical redneck, he constantly tells stories of his buddy "Keith".Ellis is a mechanic with a love of life, a firm belief in his own immortality, and the ability to treat any setback as a fun dare to impress his friends. Born and raised in Savannah, Ellis divides up his time working at the local garage, hanging out with his buddies, and dropping by for Sunday dinners with Mom—why’d anybody want to live anywhere else? Then the zombies had to go and spoil it. Now Ellis is looking for new things to occupy his time, and finding plenty. It turns out the zombie apocalypse is one big dare, and there’s no shortage of crazy stuff he can try to impress his new buddies.

Rochelle

"This is some grim ♥♥♥♥ we got ourselves into..."

Rochelle is probably the least liked survivor in the whole of L4D :b. 'As a low-level associate producer for a big-name news station, Rochelle's job mostly consisted of lugging cables and fetching coffee. But when the outbreak hit and staff started calling in sick, Rochelle got her break: producing a segment from Savannah about the evacuation center located there. She was still setting up the cameras when her big story became a war zone. But that doesn't mean she's letting go of her dream job yet. Surviving a zombie apocalypse is just something else she can use her wits and drive to produce the hell out of.'
The Infected
Ok,now we get to the annoying buttholes of the zombie apocalypse...the zombies.

(Appearances vary between L4D1 nad L4D2)

The Horde
The horde (or the commen infected) are very easy to kill and won't really be a problem unless provoked or if a special infected is helping them. To not provoke the Horde, you will need to stay away from boomers and car alarms (cars that have flashing lights), but sometimes you will need to provoke the horde in order to advance further or to call for rescue.

The Specials

Smoker
The Smoker, this guy has become mutated to have a long, grotesque, tounge that he will use to his advantage. With it, he will use it as a lasso to capture any survivors that he can and drag them away from the group, into a horde, boomer, or through some spitter goo. The smokers can be very deadly if a team doesn't work together properly or if there is an endless amount of horde ready to beat the tangled survivor to death. You may be wondering, 2why is he called a smoker if he has nothing to do with smoking?", well you see, as a final attempt to mess with the survivors, when he gets killed, he will let out a cloud that will cause your vision to become...cloudy. Smokers let out a coughing sound.

Hunter
This hooded hooligan enjoys nothing more that to pounce on you and tear you apart (not in a sexual manner). once he has pounced on a surviror, he will not let go unless he gets killed or shoved off. Hunters let out a growling sound.

Boomer
This bloated butthole loves nothing more than to ruin your day by spewing all over you. The best way to avoid these guys is to keep your distance for if the boomer gets killed, he will explode and all of his "Boomer bile" will get all over you without him having to be sick. Be aware that his bile doesn't only mess up your vision, but the horde loves the pheramone (smell) that it gives off and will be instantly attracted to it. The boomer sound like you would expect him too. There is also a female Boomer called a Boomette, does the same but sounds different.

Spitter
The Spitter is an acid gurgling...girl? She will "spit" acid at a area and will create an acid pool that will hurt survivors that pass through it. She is probobly the weakest of all the special infected due to only being effective if the survivors are grouped up in a corner, if their trapped, or if they are camping, otherwise, the survivors will take high damage for a second but then instantly walk out of the spit. Although the spitter can be the best if a special infected has a survivor in their control (smoker, jockey, etc) due to the fact that the survivor won't be able to move or move a little. Once killed, she creates an acid pool. The Spitter lets out a weird high pitched sound.

Jockey
Ah, the Jockey...this lil' guy loves nothing more than to ride a survivor into a group of infected whilst trying to split up the group. To make matters worse, he is a lonely lil' zombie and instead of eating you, he will hump you to death...so...yeah. The jockey works best if he rides a survivor that is straying from the group and if he rides them into Spitter goo or a horde. The jockey lets out a manic laugh, he is one horny mothertrucker.

Charger
The Charger is a mean son of a gun, he has a gigantic arm that he loves to crush people with. If he gets the chance he will charge through the whole group of survivors, knocking them all down, and run off with one of the survivors like Donkey Kong. Be wary when near a long drop (cliff, ledge or even a window) because the Charger can grab a survivor and run off a cliff with them, this can cause a survivor to instantly die. The charger lets out the sound that a bull does when it is charging. Also some beleive the chargers arm is just another mutation like the others, some speculate, however, that he used to masterbate way too much.

The Infected (Un-Common)
Here come the not so common infected...

The Horde (Un-Common)

The un-common horde vary between campaigns and they are normally in small numbers mixed in with the normal horde. They also have minor special abilities that can be an annoyance,

The Clowns
The clown zombies are found in the 'Dark Carnival' Campaign. Due to being clowns, they make squeaking noises every time they walk (because of their boots), this causes them to attract the common horde. The common horde will follow around the clowns until you kill them, this means that if a clown is attacking you, then you will have a group of commons to deal with aswell. Although this can be an annoyance, you can also use it to your advantage. The way in which you can use it to your advantage is that, if you have a molotov, you can take out all of the infected following the clown and get a hefty acheivement aswell :D (The Fried Piper).

CEDA Agents
The CEDA agent zombies can be found in the 'Dead Center' campaign. Their special ability is that, because they are in hazmat suits, they are immune to fire. This means that that incinerary amoo you have won't light them on fire and neither will that molotov or gas can. Some CEDA agents will drop Boomer bile, this is because they were doing test on it to see if they could use it to their advantage.

Riot Zombies
The riot zombies are found in 'The Parish' campaign. The riot zombies are the most annoying of all the un-common horde zombies, this is because they take no/hardly any damage from any hits with a melee or any bullets that come their way, from the front atleast. The way to kill a riot zombie is from the back, this is because their backs are exposed and have no armour. The way to get them to show their back is to pummel them to the ground, you can to this by right clicking. I recommend that you use a melee to take these guys out, due to the fact that you can use all of your ammo without doing any damage. Deal with these once you have dealt with the others, just punch them back in the meantime. Like the CEDA agents, the riot zombies have a drop too...the nightstick (baton)

Mud Men
The mud men are found in the 'Swamp Fever' campaign. The mudmen aren't much of a threat but their "ability" is that when they hit you it will make your view dirty, but the worst thing about the mudmen is that they crawl on the ground. Due to them crawling on the ground, it is hard to notice them when they are partially submerged in the swamp water and when there are common infected twice their height.

The Fallen Survivors
The fallen survivors can be found in 'The Passing' campaign and maybe 'The Sacrifice' aswell. Unlike the other horde infected, the fallen survivors have a lot of health and they normally run away instead of attacking. Like the riot and CEDA zombies, the fallen survivors drop items aswell, although, there is always a guarantee for more than 1 item drop and the items are any that the normal survivors can carry.

The Specials (Un-Common)

The Tank
The tank is the most powerful out of all the infected, he is a hulking mass of muscle that will rip up the ground below him and throw it at you as though it was a...um...Gimli? If you allow the tank to get close enough, then he will puch you for about a quarter of your health and will cause you to travel quite a far distance. Be wary of cars and other objects when around the tank, because if he manages to punch them and they hit you, you will be immediately downed or maybe even die. The tank grunts when not alerted, but if he is then he will let out a loud roar.

The Witch
This weeping willow (is that what I think it is?) is the second most powerful infected (if tampered with). All this infected wants to do is be left alone and cry her "life" away. It's best if you don't disterb her by turning off your fleshlight and walking around her, otherwise you are in for a world of pain. If she reaches the person that disterbed her, then she will tear them apart in a millisecond. Nobody really knows why the witch is crying, but the witch in the passing seems to be crying over the fact that the "happiest day of her" life was ruined by some bloodthirsty zombies chewing up her husband, family and friends.

Guns (What to Use)
So which guns should I use in the zombie apocalypse?, well you stupid buttole, i'm about to tell you!.

Primary
Now, for your primary weapon you are going to need a gun...no not those measly pistols or that desert eagle, a REAL gun. But not TOO real like that M60 or Grenade Launcher you have your eyes on.

M60
The reason why you shouldn't use the M60 is that, yeah it is huge and deals a ton of damage, but it is very inconvenient for the normal infected and it only has a limited amount of ammo too. So you can have a whale of a time going nuts for a coulple of seconds, run out of ammo and then the infected are going to seek their revenge. The only time you should use the M60 is if a Tank appears or if you have completely run out of ammo and there are no more weapons around. (although that is very unlikely)

Grenade Launcher
The grenade launcher should be avoided at all costs! It can take out a group of infected, sure, but it has very low ammo, low reload speed and can deal a lot of damage to fellow survivors if not careful.

Mounted Gun
If you find a mounted gun, then I recommend you avoid it, although it does a lot of damage and has no reload, it can get over heated and then it is unusable. Another reason why you should avoid it, is that you are restricted to a 180 degree view sight and are stuck in one place, this means that special infected can easily get you and normals can surround you from behind. You will probably come across a mounted gun in survivals or finales, don't use it!

Machine Guns
Machine guns are a great choice to take out normal infected in large numbers due to its rapid fire and medium range to take out infected from a distance. Although it is a good gun to take out normal infected, it can also be good to take out some specials that work best from a distance, such as the Smoker, Spitter and Definetly the Boomer. This is because of it's range and due to the fact that you can kill a Boomer before any of your survivors get bile on them and attract the horde. Although the machine gun is a good choice for specials and normals alike, it will chew through a lot of ammo and will do hardly any damage to the Tank and Witch, so just keep that in mind.

Shotguns
Now this is my favourite type of gun to use in L4D, now you may be thinking "WTF N00B, shotguns are a terrible choice due to their stupidly short range, low fire rate and long reload time, especially when there is a ballsack ton of infected, Boomers, Spitters and smokers, let alone the tank getting close enough to you that he can destroy you!!!1!!" Well you see thats what I thought at first but no, thats when I was a noob. In my opinion, shotguns are the best gun to use in the game (if you know what you are doing) because with the right skills, you don't need to shoot smokers on rooftops and spitters across the map. A shotgun would be terrible to take out a horde of infected, but thats why you should combo it with a melee weapon! A shotgun if perfect to take out close range specials and big infected which are the most team-breaking and survivor killing ones. The shotgun can 1 shot a jockey the second it is on a survivor, kill a charger whilst it is charging (if it has already taken damage) and kill a hunter mid-flight.

Sniper Rifles
I haven't really used a sniper rifle in L4D but, why would I? It is purely meant for long range, does slow single shots and can take out about 1-3 normal infected, maybe, if they are in a straight line. Due to its long range only, this would mean that you may have to stray behind the other survivors to cover them, this would mean that 1 special can easily take you out. The only time I can see it being used is is you want to take out a witch from a far distance before she can down someone or to do damage to a tank from a distance.

Secondary

Pistol(s)
Whenever you start a campaign you start with a single pistol, if you want to look like a badass, then there should be another pistol when you spawn, pick it up and then you can dual wield. You may think "This is flippin' epic I can kill zombies and look like a baws with unlimeted ammo!" That may be true, but how effective is it? next to none. This is because it takes about 3-5 shots, maybe, to kill a single normal infected...is it really imortant to look like a baws but hit like a 2 year old that has no hands? I DON'T THINK SO!

Deagle
"YES THIS TIME I CAN LOOK LIKE A BAWS AND DEAL DAMAGE!!1!!1!!" you may think to yourself...NO!, it has a low fire rate and deals medium damage, so when you are out of ammo in your primary and all you have is a Deagle to take out the horde, R.I.P in pieces...

(MY FAVOURITE COMBO IS THE PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN AND THE FIREAXE)
Melee Weapons (What to Use)
OH YEAH TIME TO GET TO THE GOOD STUFF!!!

In a zombie apocalupse you may be like "OH BOY,I'M GUNNA GET ME A GWUN AND SHOOT SUM MUDDA TWUCKERS UP :D" *facepalm* please don't do that...melee weapons in L4D ( even where there are guns around every corner) and in most zombie related things, are the key to survival. Melee weapons are great to easily clear your way through an endless amount of zombie hordes (in a game, otherwise you would be an idiot) without having to waste ammo or attracting zombies (unless using a noisy melee). If you are a pro then you are mainly going to use a sharp melee weapon through the majority of the campaigns,it will be your best friend when all that is between you and safety if a bunch of mean mothertruckers that are just waiting to ruin your day.

Chainsaw
Now, I thought i should get this out of the way.For all of you blood thirsty maniacs out there, you may want to grab a chainsaw and "Let it rip"? well, that isn't a good idea. You see, the chainsaw runs off petrol, so once it eats it all up, you are going to be in a spot of trouble. Also the blood from the zombies can get a little messy and you may not know if you are chainsawin' the infected or your friends. If you areout of ammo in your primary and all you have is an empy chainsaw, then WTF are you going to do!?

Blunt Weapons
  • Baton
  • Guitar
  • Cricket/Baseball Bat
  • Frying Pan
  • Crowbar
  • Golf Club
Right, now, most of the melee weapons do the amout of damage in which you would expect them to do, but some may not. If you had to choose out of the blunt melee weapons (which i recommend the sharp), then I think that you should choose the baseball bat, although it may be wooden, it can do a lot of damage and has quite a long reach aswell, then i would have to say the crowbar, cricket bat and golf club (although the golf club is only passing and sacrifice), this is due to the same reasons. I would highly recommend not using the baton (nightstick) because it is the weakest of them all, you'll have to give a few zombies a good beating to finish them (and thats just normal infected).

Sharp Weapons
  • Axe
  • Machete
  • Katana
OH YEAH!!! These are (beleive it or not) the best weapons in the game, they can clean the zombie infested dance floor in meer seconds so that you can get to the safe house with time for a nice cup of tea, while all of your noobish teamates are running around with dual pistols shouting "WOW LOOK AT ME I'M A BADASS" and then get destroyed by special infected.I highly recommend that you use the fire axe because not only is it hard hitting, but it has a fast swing rate and turns you into a axe wielding psychopath where no zombie will stand in your way!

(MY PERFECT COMBO IS THE PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN AND THE FIRE AXE)
Items
Now we get to the items in L4D...

Health Items

Medkit
The health kit is probably going to be your most frequent used health item. The health kit heals 80% of your health. If you are on black and white (near death), and you use a health kit, then you will be restored back to normal (unless that is a load of bull that i am making up). Even if you are on red health, then you should use pills/adrenaline if you have any (or can get some), otherwise you should use a health kit.

Defibrillator (Defib)
The defrillator can be used to revive your fellow survivors if they happen to die (if you can get to them, that is). Although if a survivor does die, you should find them later on the level in a closet/toilet somewhere otherwise they will spawn in the saferoom next level. Although if you (and your team) follow my tips, then you shouldn't need to use this.

Pills
The pill can be used to give a survivor a temporary 50% health boost. Instead of using a medkit when you are red or yellow, take some pills or adrenaline until your health goes back down. keep doing this until you (or your team) only have medkits left. If a teamate is yellow/red convince them to use adrenaline/pills. You can give items to fellow survivors by equiping the item and right clicking. Don't be greedy, teamwork is the key to survival.

Adrenaline
When you take adrenaline, it only gives you a temporary 25% health boost, although it gives you a speed boost so that it is easier to move through zombie hordes. The speed boost doesn't only allow you to run faster, but also allows you to use items, heal, revive, rescue, and pour gas in half the time! Don't get carried away with the speed boost, you need to stick with your team.

Weapon Modifications (one time use per weapon)

Laser (Lazer) Sight
The Laser sight, when equippted to your weapon, it will increase your accuracy...WHAT DID YOU EXPECT MORE!?!?

.jpg]

Incendiary Ammo
The incendiary ammo is really hard to spell and causes a small ammount of your ammo to become "fire bullets". It is best if you use this ammo to ignite special infected and use a melee to kill the normals. once in your inventory, you can set it up on the ground. The incendiary ammo will replace your Defib/Medkit slot. If you have a Defib/Medkit, then I recommend that you swap it out for the "fire bullets", place the"fire bullets" down and pick up your "item" again.

Explosive Ammo
The explosive ammo will cause special infected to stumble (the same as when you nudge them), I beleive that they can even make the charger stumble, maybe the witch aswell. The "Rules" for the explosive ammo are the same as the "fire bullets".

Other

Bile Bomb
The bile bomb is the Boomer's puke that was collected by CEDA to do tests on. The bile bomb acts as though you were hrowing a boomer, wherever and whatever the bile bomb hits will cause the horde to be attracted to that area or attack whatever it hit. This is most effective to distract hordes in areas where they keep spawning or to attack a tank. By throwing it at a tank, you get the acheivement 'Septic Tank'. BEWARE the bile bomb can effect fellow survivors!

Molotov
Why drink your worries away when you can see them burn in a fire? (not promoting arson lol) Well now you can with the good old fashioned molotov. The molotov is perfect for getting rid of a large horde of zombies and is great to deal a lot of damage to the Tank. Don't be a flippin' idiot and throw a molotov that has a survivor (e.g. hunter, charger, jockey) because you will just be helping the infected to kill your team quicker.

Pipe Bomb
The pipe bomb is basically an upgraded version of the bile bomb. It's loud beeping will attract the horde to it and then blow up, killing all the infected that are surrounding it. It isn't really effective for anything else, unless you somehow manage to hurt a special with it.

Gnome Chompski
This cheery chap is still smiling after being launched into space in Half-Life 2 and getting trapped in a box waiting to be won. He can be won in 'Dark Carnival' if you beat the highest score in the shooting gallery mini game. If you manage to carry him through the entire campaign and escape with him at the end, then you will gain the acheivement 'Guardin' Gnome' and brag to your friends of how you saved a gnome in a zombie apocalypse for no reason. The only way you can use him as a weapon is if you use the "push" action, this will do next to no damage and can make you get fatigued. The best way to do this is that you can carry him when it is quite calm and throw him on the ground to shoot n' slash the infected, although be careful you don't lose him. and keep holding him whilst in the saferoom. To be honest, I think he is smiling because he enjoys seeing your misery as your mind slowly corrupts and decays when all you care about is keeping the gnome safe and going insane when you think you have lost him or when someone steals him off you...basically 'Lord of the Rings' with a gnome...'Lord of the Gnomes'.

Propane Tank
The propane tank can be carried like the gnome and does around the same amount of damage (hardly anything) when used as a melee weapon. The propane tank will explode when it is shot, this can be used to explode infected and deal quite a bit of damage to a tank. If you left quick, then you can throw a propane tank. Whilst the propane tank is in the air, try to shoot it so that it can deal its most effective damage.

Gas Can/Fireworks
The gas can works mostly the same way as the propane tank, besides the fact that it acts as a molotov when shot and doesn't change it's damage effectiveness when shot in the air. The gas can is best used against large numbers of horde in a corridor or "chokepoint"and very effective against a Tank.

Cola
Found in the 'Dead Center' campaign. Just some cola...
"Hey! can you keep it down?, i'm trying to masterbate up here!"
"What did he say coach?"
"He said he wants some good old fashioned cola"

Tips & Tricks
So you have now come to the page with my tips & tricks...
(For more specifics, check out the 'Melee Weapons' and 'The Infected' pages)

Teamwork

Sticking Together
Right, first of all I want to talk about the main factor that will help you and your team of survivors complete a campaign and a rule that everyone should always follow. This is the fact that you have to always stick together and work as a team no matter what. If a survivor is being pulled by a smoker, has been pounced on by a hunter or grappled by a charger, then you should set it as your top priority to save them. NEVER GO ALONE! this is because it only takes 1 special infected to incapitate you and ruin your day. (If it comes down to only two survivors, then you still have a chance due to the fact that you will always have someone to save you if a special gets you). This rule especially applies when you need to battle against endless hordes of infected to get to an objective, this is because most survivors will want to get to the objective as quick as possible...this is a big mistake. If you find yourself in this situation, then don't be tempted to run! you should help your teammates out even if they are falling behind...otherwise, "The game was rigged from the start".

Healing
This is another very important key to you and your teams survival,sexua-...healing. Whenever a teammate is low on health, firstly, encourage them to use painkillers or adrenaline (If they have any) before using ther health kit, this is because they will have a longer life span, won't be wasting time and a perfectly good health kit over a wound that could be healed partially by some adrenaline or pills temporarily. Also, if a teammate is low on health and doesn't have any healing items whilst you do, then you should heal them yourself (Hold Right-Click) or give them an item (Right Click). This is good because although it helps to keep your team alive, it may also encourage them to "repay the favour" and help you out more, this is even furtherly encouraged if your teammate is a Lannister!

Dealing with "Specials"
Now, in this section, I may repeat myself from 'The Infected' pages.

Why so Pushy?
First things first, I am going to tell you the best way to effectively and efficiently deal with them. So, a special infected is messing with another survivor, what do you do? Now, what you shouldn't do is automatically start firing your load all into the special because this can be a huge waste of ammo and will allow the special to deal quite a bit of damage to the survivor, although this method is most effective against some of the infected such as the Tank, Charger, Witch, Spitter and most of the time a Boomer. The method in which you should use, however, is pushing an infected from or off of a survivor (You can do this whilst holding a weapon and Right Clicking, when next to an infected). This is not only handy to cause an infected to hardly damage a survivor, save ammo and time, but also to untie a survivor from a smoker's grasp. Once you push an infected, they will become stunned for a short time and become hardly or not damaged at all so be prepared to finish them off. Another tip on pushing infected is that, if you push a hunter at the appropriate time whilst they are leaping, then you will not become leapt onto (Don't quote me on that though). Be warned however, pushing is ineffective against the Charger, Tank and Witch.
(Bonus Tip: you can shoot a smoker's tounge to let a survivor go

Items
Most of the time, the most effective items against the special infected are the molotovs and maybe the gas can if used correctly. This is because there is a high chance that you will be able to hit an infected and that if the infected decides to leg it, then it will still do damage to them even when not in sight (for a short period of time). They are most effective against a Tank, along with the propane tank.

Music and Sounds
Each special infected have their own unique sounds and music cues. My tip is to try and recognise each of the infected's music cues and sounds, this is because you will know what to look out for and to deal with before you even see it! (This works best to tell if a Tank is around). Recognising what music and sounds go with each infected should come naturally, but in case you want to listen... (Hint: For the sounds, look out for the key ones e.g Hunter's prowling growl and Hunter's leaping scream)

My Stats
This screenshot is just to prove that I use the tips that I have put in this guide.
BTW I played L4D2 for years on the xbox 360, so thats how I know what to use, just in case you were wondering why some of my stats have 0 kills and junk and is the reason why the percentages are high on some of the weapons that I don't use (e.g. the pistols)

As you can see I prefer shells over bullets, melee over pistols and I use my combo :D
Did you Know?
Did You Know?

  • All of the characters appearances in L4D are based off real people?

    L4D1

    L4D2

  • The voice actor for Coach is Ty-Rhys from The Walking Dead? (Chad Coleman)

  • There is some text that is written on the walls by Frank West from Deadrising in 'The Passing' and supposedly Francis in another campaign?

  • (slight spoiler) The reason why everyone the survivors meet turn into infected and why the survivors themselves don't get infected themselves is because they are carriers of the infection?
About Me
Well, you see, I am just going to come out and add a shameless advertisement to my youtube channel in this section because why not right? Don't get me wrong though, I don't advertise my channel in the youtube comments and in games so don't start kicking off of how much of a flippin' stupid butthole I am, it's just for you to check out what i'm like you know? Most of the junk on my channel is...well, junk, but that's the way I like it!

I am a welsh flippin' crippled ballsack and I am not a furry just in case you were wondering (not that I have anything against furries), It is meant to be more of a hotline miami, mascot thing, you know, disturbingly happy and "cute" but psychopathic, pretty dark but I think that it is flippin' epic.

I do act like a flippin' idiot and do some pretty messed up and crippled things now and again, but you know what?, thats just me. So why not give me a chance?

I am part of a group of buttholes called the TGC (The Gaming Crew) but we don't really do jack and we're not very flippin' professional at all. You can check out the group here:

P.s. If there are any spelling mistakes, then I can't be bothered to go back and change them, so yeah, try not to give too many ballsacks...

as far as i can tell, fire axe has the slowest swing speed and all melees deal a set 200 dmg. the katana i find is best because you dont have to be as precise as a knife but still have the fast swing speed. baton has a similar speed i think. im guessing either im an idiot or a lot has changed since 2014 i wouldnt be surprised either way

Agree for the most part but no, pistols are the only gun to use in L4D or L4D2. If you use primary for anything but tanks, you're a noob.
