  1. Installation/Setup
    • Install the BepInEx for Subnautica -> https://github.com/toebeann/BepInEx.Subnautica

    • Also make sure you don't have VREnhancements or the old Motion Controls Mod installed, since they aren't compatible.

    • Download the latest version of the mod SubmersedVR -> https://github.com/Okabintaro/SubmersedVR/releases
      Make sure to download the zip filed called SubmersedVR_VERSION.zip and not the Source Code.

    • Copy the whole contents of the zip file into your Subnautica folder e.g.
      {Your PATH}SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Subnautica
      You can find the location of your game in steam by right-clicking it, then -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse.

    • Start the game within SteamVR.

    Will this work with Below Zero?
    Yes! @jbusfield ported the mod to Below Zero and is working on a lot of other nice features.

  3. Credits/Thanks
    This mod began as modifications and fixes for the SN1MC Mod from ihatetn931 and later was mostly rewritten and cleaned up for this project. Lots of thanks to him opening up the source code for me to get into VR modding.
    Furthermore, there are some fixes and improvements cherry-picked from the Subnautica VR Enhancements Mod by IWhoI.
    Another thank goes to the great VR modding work from Raicuparta. I looked at their mods code quite often when I was stuck and probably will again in the future.

Also I should note that if I take off the WMR headset (e.g. in order to search something in the forum), WMR will shut down after like 10 minutes and Steam VR and Subnautica will get killed instantly without saving. So be sure to save before you put the game aside.

Works quite well with WMR and a HP Reverb G2 headset. There are a few things and minor limitations though:

-Press the right joystick button to select a pre-set tool. Assigning them by dragging them down in the inventory sometimes doesn't work. Then close the inventory and try again later. This whole process is slower than in the desktop version but I got used to it eventually.
- You cannot switch between the cameras - neither in the scanner room nor in the cyclops. Looks like no controller button was assinged to this.
- In order to interact with the cuddlefish you need to have the "cinematic animations" enabled in the Submersed VR settings. You might want to leave this option off until you really have hatched a cuddlefish, because the "going-to-sleep"/wakeup animations can cause motion sickness.
- Have not yet found a way to switch the HUD off for screenshots or do in-game screenshots. (Steam Screenshots work, though, but you cannot use these for image frames in bases.)

OK, so first day on subnautica - thanks to these instructions & community, could play with Valve Index on PC. Disappointed the devs couldn't just incorporate this to avoid all the hassle. No Mans Sky remarkably similar (same devs?) but much more polished for VR.

it would be really cool if they made the seamoth have a actual wheel that you use and the prawn suit your arms are the suits arms
